Mercury and Venus are the only two planets in our solar system that do not have any moons.

We are aware of only 14 black holes in space.

The hottest planet in our solar system is Venus. Most people often think that it would be Mercury, as it's the closest planet to the sun. This is because Venus has a lot of gasses in it's atmosphere, which causes the "Greenhouse Effect".

Most eaten garlic in one minute was 4 whole cloves! This was set by Alastia Galpin in 2006.

Peter Dowdeswell holds the world record for the fastest time to drink two pints of milk. He managed it in just 3.2 seconds!

The world record for eating jelly with a chopstick in one min goes to Damien Fletcher, who managed a whopping 180g of it.

Fastest time to drink a 396g (14oz) bottle of ketchup though a straw was Dustin Phillips of America. He managed in just 33 seconds.

The most amount of grapes eaten in 3 minutes is 133. This record was set in 2001 by Mat Hand, from the UK.

The belief in reincarnation dates back to around the 6th century BC, and first appears in primitive Indian religions. Reincarnation is the belief that the mans soul is reborn time and time again after the body has died.

Most Western religious denominations believe that they person who dies retains their individuality after death, whereas the Eastern religions often believe in the possibility of returning as an animal or a plant.

According to Buddhism and Hinduism, the man or woman is reborn in accordance with how they lived their previous life. This is commonly referred to as Karma. There are some sects of Hinduism that hold the belief that reincarnation does not necessarily mean that they will be reborn as another human. If the person has lived a bad life of crime, then it is possible that they could be reborn as a lizard, worm, or even a cactus!

Origins Of The Yeti

Belief in the existance of the Yeti dates back thousands of years... but did they ever really exist? One of the most popular explanations of the origins of the Yeti is that it is a descendant from the giant ape, Gigantopithecus.

Fossil remains of the Gigantopithecus have been found in India and China, and they date back from 3,000 years to 12 million years ago. During this period, the Himalayas were rising by as much as 2500/3000 meters. Because of this increase in height, many species of animals, including the Yeti's ancestor may have become isolated.

Based on the fossile remains, scientists are able to give a good estimate on how the giant ape would have looked. They believe that the ape would have stood about 3 meters (About 9.8 ft) tall, and with an arm span of over 3.6 meters (12 ft)!

Chance of a Coin Landing on Heads?

It is not a 50 percent chance a coin will land on heads. If the coin is heads up at the start, it is more likely to land on heads. Students at Stanford University recorded thousands of coin tosses with high speed cameras and discovered the chances are a 51% chance it will land on heads.

There are many conditions which affect the outcome of a coin flip, these conditions are the force, the speed and angle of spin, height of the coin from the ground and which side of the coin is facing up to start with. These changes are significant enough to prevent a fifty-fifty probability.

The researchers showed that coin tossing isn't random; it's a measurable event that obeys the laws of physics just like everything else. If each coin has exactly the same initial conditions and exactly the same force then its spin will produce an even outcome of landing on heads or tails.

I wonder what the chance of a coin landing on it's side is? It can't be impossible, can it?

There's always been a number of tales and myths surrounding Magpies... but what started them all of? Have magpies always been seen as an omen of bad luck? And where did the famous Magpie Rhyme come from?

The Magpie used to be seen as a very important and an interesting mythological bird in history, before the Christians came on the scene. It was said that at the Magpie represent the Devil, as when Jesus was crucified on the cross, both a Dove and a Magpie came to sit on the cross. The Dove caught the tears of Christ, where as the Magpie didn't. The Church also started the famous roumor that the tongue of a Magpie contained a drop of blood from the devil. From this romour came the idea of cutting the tongue of a Magpie off, to release the drop of the devils blood. It was then said that the Magpie would then be capable of Human speech.

One of the most famous things about Magpies is the rhyme that records the myth that seeing magpies predicts the future. It is not clear whether this myth was actually believed or not. There are many different variations of the rhyme, but the most common version, and the version that I grew up with, is below:

One for Sorrow,
Two for joy,
Three for a girl,
Four for a boy,
Five for silver,
Six for gold,
Seven for a secret never to be told.
Eight for a wish,
Nine for a kiss,
Ten a surprise you should be careful not to miss.

A "Mormon" is the name given to a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Often just abbreviated to just the LDS Church).

There are a number of different splinter groups of the LDS church, such as the Community of Christ, which are often mistakenly called Mormons too.

The LDS church was founded on the 6th April, 1830 by Joseph Smith, who after praying to God to see which was the correct church to join, was told none were, and that he were to start his own church, and become a prophet of God.

After numerous visits from an angel called Moroni, Joseph Smith started translating the Book of Mormon from ancient golden plates, which were revealed to him to be hidden on the top of Hill Cumorah.

Despite what many people believe, Mormons do not practice in polygamy. There are however a handful of splinter groups that still believe in, and practice it.

Joseph Smith and his brother Hyrum (One of the 8 witnesses) were murdered by a mob whilst they were held in jail at Carthage, near Nauvoo, on the 27th June, 1844.

Just before the death of Joseph Smith, he passed on the authority to become the prophet of the church to a man called Brigham Young. There are a number of towns and universities named after him; the most popular being the Brigham Young University in Salt Lake City, Utah.
