Welcome back myself! (monologue)

I have to admit that life at the 6th semester is much more complicated since we are faced with the up-coming & the-coming-soon BACHELOR THESIS. I'm pretty much occupied with this thing lately & now I know how it felt: it's exhausting even before it really begins. My lecturer always say that "you have to find the core problem & why do you claim that as a problem". Geez, my life is already filled with bunch of problems & now we have to find another one? Please. *forgive the cynical tone*. Although I have some affection in writing papers & stuff, still, doing this is not as simple as that.

Well, enough with the depressing-bachelor-thesis stuff. How about discussing this outfit?

Recently I observe that statement-word T-shirts are kinda ubiquitous. From the world top fashion bloggers, to the teenage street style, even to some random guy on the public transportation, statement or a "speaking" t-shirt is on its hype. I'm not a huge fan of this statement t-shirt especially if the words are attention-seekers like: "I only date rockstars" or "Single and available" etc. Until I found this t-shirt clothing line, called YOUTHiNK. YOUTHiNK is a clothing line specialized in premium quality t-shirt: not just for its garment, but also for the 'content' itself. The words depicted on the t-shirt are not trivial - it's a deep quotes from philosophers or theologian. Note that this t-shirt clothing line is created & managed by Christians, so you'll find Christian-based quotes. The name itself explain everything. YOUTHiNK consists of "YOU" & "THINK": it means that the words make you think about it. But also consists of "YOUTH" & "INK": it means that it is generated from a youthful mind. I found the concept of this clothing line is brilliant: mixing the latest trend of statement t-shirt & greatest quotes as the content. So the statement aren't just a statement - it's a very much thoughtful content that makes YOU-THINK.

The t-shirt I'm wearing quotes: "The tyrant dies his rule is over; the martyr dies his rule begins" by a Danish philosopher, Søren Kierkegaard. For you who learn a bit about philosophy, this name should be familiar to you. Søren Kierkegaard is a philosopher who regarded as "The Father of Existentialism" beside Friedrich Nietzsche. While Nietzsche is from the Atheist-wing (remember his famous quote "Gott is tot" - God is dead?) & Kierkegaard is from the Christian/Theist-wing. I'm not trying to give you a philosophical course. But for those who are Christian, try to think more about this quote:

"THE TYRANT DIES HIS RULE IS OVER; THE MARTYR DIES HIS RULE BEGINS" and compare it with Matthew 20:25-28. And also compare this quote with the history of the persecution of Christians by Roman Empire in the Bible & also in history books (e.g: Persecution of Christians by Nero that produce lots of martyrs).

Finally, I came back after more than 1 month hiatus!

February was such a busy month and I was just too tired to do all the blogging thingy.

Back with a casual look, with camel skirt & white trim-shirt with white sandals.

Everything that I wear here is all "new" - actually the only thing that is really new is the sandals, I bought them in Sogo Department Store. Both the shirt & skirt are my mom's. Those aren't new, and yet new for me since I just found them nowadays in my mom's closet. Too be honest, the size of this camel pleated skirt is actually much more longer. I folded the skirt too make them shorter hehe. And about the trim-shirt, I love the trimming detail with a touch of animal print pattern; plus, the shirt and the belt is a already one package. The pattern matches each other, doesn't it? I just have no idea where did my mom buy this one, a very unique piece indeed! In other pics I added my camel oversize blazer to create an almost-monochromatic look.

I can say that this style kinda represent my idea of combining the vintage with the modern & sleek. The shirt & skirt both are vintage, mixed with the minimalistic & sleek white sandal which is pretty happening nowadays. I mean, you don't have to try too hard to look uber-stylish by wearing all-the-up-to-date pieces in one outfit. What's the point of wearing all the coolest stuff together and yet actually it doesn't suit your very personal style? My motto is, follow the trend and yet keep your inner personality there.

Guard Dog Sweater and Galaxy Legging

Back with a new look!

My days seems to be idle lately, especially since there was a big flood here in Jakarta, I spent my days mostly at home - and mostly, sleeping. Thank God we don't have any problem with the flood at my place, but mostly the flood afflicted the norther part of Jakarta like in Pluit and stuff. Let's hope that the flood will soon recedes and the help from local government will come in time. I also feel terribly sorry for the victim of 'tsunami' in UOB Building's basement, deep condolence for the family's loss.

For 3-4 days, there was heavy rain and the weather was so cold. Yet, from Saturday until today, the weather was surprisingly warm and dry - there is no rain at all (at least at my place). It was the most perfect time to take photos outdoor, to get the sunlight. I realized that the pictures from my previous post were so good, because there was no sunshine that day, poor lighting we can say.

About the outfit, both the sweater & the legging are already worn from my previous posts. Yet I just came up with the idea of combining vintage stuff and futuristic vibe which represent these two items. A secondhand vintage sweater combined with a futuristic galaxy legging. There's a paradox in it or should we say dialectics? Vintage sweater (thesis) - Galaxy Legging (antithesis) --> create a new style (synthesis). Oh damn, please stop this philosophy shits! Who cares anyway....

It's been so long since my last post, isn't it?

I shall not make any explanation about this, because it will eventually bores you all. The point is, I've been neglecting my "blogging duty" for more than a month.

So, this is the very first post in 2013, eh? To pass 2012 and come into 2013 is actually a blessing indeed. Many people didn't survive 2012 and don't have a slightest chance to see 2013. We all shall be grateful for this of course.

About the outfit, it's more casual and simpler than any of my previous look. I'm not in the mood for a girly-fancy-too decorative outfit. This year, I'm planning to post a more mature, simpler, & wearable looks - and perhaps less color. A not-so-WOW looks - I try not to please everyone, I just wear what I want to wear.

In this super-freezin'-cold-non stop rainy days recently, it is pretty wise to wear a warm cozy sweater, no? I found this grey aztec (or tribal, whatever) sweater in Endorse Shop Tebet last year. I love the aztec pattern accent on the top & the camel patch on the elbow. I mixed this with my asymmetrical-pleats black skirt from Mango, which I bought on sale for only IDR 199.000 (wohoo!).

(A Very Late) B'Day Outfit // Liebster Award

Hi everyone!

I was wearing this outfit on my birthday, which is actually held on November 18th last month. Sadly I had no time to post this outfit that day, so I have to postpone this birthday outfit until today. I must say that this is one of my favorite outfit. I found this abstract-painting-look alike skirt from my grandma's treasury & I modified this skirt at a tailor to cut down the size. I was mesmerize with the pattern & color as well, and this skirt is that typical item which isn't easily mixed with other item. The most safe mixture is black, but I refuse to wear black. One day, I tried this skirt with this magenta top - and the color mix turned out to be so interesting.

My favorite book is Momo written by Michael Ende. I also love Sophie's World by Jostein Gaardner eventhough I haven't finished reading it haha.

2) What movie that makes you cry?

The very first movie that made me cry was Titanic. I know, very cliche. Basically I always cry when the leading role tragically die: Cold Mountain, The Painted Veil, etc. I also cried when seeing injustice such as in My Name is Khan & North Country.

3) Describe yourself in three words

Describe-it-yourself. I sometime confuse with myself, how can I describe such a confusing being?

4) Have you ever googled yourself and been surprised at what you've found?

Yes I have. I was surprised once because I found another person who has the same name as myself (Izzaura). I thought I was the only one HAHA.

5) Favorite designer?

Haider Ackermman: very distinguishable. Karl Lagerfeld: a legend. Alexander McQueen: a genius who is totally out-of-this-world. (and Sarah Burton too).

Oh, and I love other British designers such as Mary Katrantzou, Peter Pillotto, & Christopher Kane.

6) What is your favorite TV shows?

None. I rarely watch TV.

7) What is your all time favorite movie?

Oh man, this is tough. LOTR, Shawshank Redemption, King Speech, Inception, ah so many! Couldn't pick one!!

Unbranded. I don't attach myself to one brand because in fashion I'm a "free-thinker". I never put any kinds of brand as my "religion" and stick to it. I prefer a cheap, thrifted, unplanned shopping.

Casual // Minty Snoopy and Coral Pants

It's been 20 days since my last post. Yup, life is getting crazier each day whether it's from the campus or from the church. Beside papers and more papers, I've been occupied with Christmas preparation at my church. And the other crazy thing is, we have entered rainy season. Why it is crazy? Because in Jakarta, rain means a curse. Rain equals to A HELL-ISH TRAFFIC JAM & flood. Where in other place rain is a blessing, in Jakarta (and also Depok) RAIN IS A CURSE.

Since it is a rainy season which create a chill and cold temperature, it seems to be the best time to wear SWEATERS (or jumper, whatever you like to call it)! I bought this vivid mint (or turquoise? Up to you) Snoopy jumper at Passer Baroe for IDR 30000, a thrifted one of course. I match this mint jumper with my Forever 21 Coral Pants - a color combination that I have worn in my previous post. And I put the peterpan-collar tosca blouse underneath. Finally, I can wear a layered pieces without suffering from heat! Rainy season isn't always a curse anyway :)

Anyway, actually last Sunday (November 18th) was my 21st birthday but since life was so hectic, I have no time to post any birthday outfit or even to celebrate it. I'll post some birthday outfit next week!

Ah, I can finally breath a little while & blogging again.

I have just finished with the super-sucks Mid-Term Test (which is actually haven't really finished yet, there are still more papers to come, ergh). Well, everybody needs some "me-time" right? Apparently blogging is one of my favorite thing to do for "me-time" activity - beside watching movies & eating some good food.

After a more "gloomy" & futuristic style from the previous look, the mood switched to a more vintage preppy look. Yup I like changing my style but there's only one thing that doesn't change: I (almost) always wear thrifted stuff.

Back again with some autumnal outfit! Like I said before, we can create the autumnal atmosphere here. I think autumn is the most interesting season from all for its warm, earthly color tones. Burgundy, camel, & brown: autumn enough, don't they? (Anyway, I prefer using "autumn" than "fall" - I don't have any particular reason, I just love the word)

By the way about the floral brownie shirt, it is thrifted and I feel so delightful for finding this vintage floral shirt. Usually, floral pattern is much more likely to be associated with spring/summer season. But this? A very autumnal floral, we can say - and I love it. To complete the vintage preppy look, I added this vintage brown bag that I bought in Bugis Market, Singapore last year. And perhaps some of you are familiar with this camel blazer I'm wearing? Yes, I already wear this blazer in my previous outfit and I still adore this blazer a lot. It has perfect length to cover up my big butt & thigh. I have this major problem every time I wear this burgundy pants: since it is so tight, my butt & thigh looks sooo fat. Thanks to this long blazer, they got cover up.

Oh, I just realized we're already in November! (Time flies too fast, eh?) My favorite month, indeed :D

Dystopia // Army Bomber Jacket

Hello guys!

This time I'm in the mood for a more boyish yet a futuristic style.

I bought this army bomber jacket (thrifted) a long time ago and I almost never wear it - I simply have no idea how should I mix this jacket with. So I take a look inside my closet and then found this Hardware abstract legging (which I already wore in my previous post) - here comes the idea of mix & match. At last I mix this army bomber jacket & the abstract legging to create a boyish, anti-beauty, & futuristic style. I'm so aware that this style is far from the word "pretty, gorgeous, chic, cute" or whatsoever. In fact, this outfit & the photo overall show a more murky and bleak mood with a stark contrasts. This entire mood composition reminds me of a concept: "dystopia".

What is dystopia? Dystopia is the opposite of utopia: a society which is characterized by human misery, over-crowd population, oppression, disease, and other bad stuff. Sometimes, I always wondering what will this earth and our society looks like in the future? There are two stand regarding this: the optimists and the pessimist. Which one are you? In my opinion, if we as a citizen of this world don't care about our nature, if we don't have a will to change the society, if we keep construct buildings instead of preserving the naturals, if we keep wasting the source energy (such as fuel and electricity), if we keep doing what we are doing right now: I believe the future will be more likely to be a dystopia. Because our lifestyle right now will determine what our life will be in the future. Of course we don't want to leave this earth in a horrible condition for the next generation, right?

This post was highly influence by a dystopian-futuristic movie,"The Book of Eli" (2010), starring Denzel Washington (who wore an army jacket there) & Mila Kunis.

Hello!

After a vintage vibe from my previous look, now here comes a more modernist-approach style. Kinda minimalist with a touch of silvery accessories to add the futuristic mood. I'm so into color-blocking as always and now I'm combining tangerine with one of my favorite color, royal blue. I found this exquisite jacket at Magnolia Store in PIM 2 which is pretty affordable for a proletarian like. I don't visit this store so often since it doesn't represent my personal style a lot, but IDK why that day I stumbled upon this store and found this jacket - FOR SALE (yup, that's the most important thing in shopping law).

I was filled with joyous feeling after buying this jacket, yet, when I got home I just realize one thing: this jacket's fabric is so damn thick. And you don't wear thick fabric clothes a lot here in Jakarta, in this kind of weather. So I wear this jacket rarely. Thank God I have a blog so that I can manifest my desire to wear this jacket in virtual world.

To be honest, my style in the blogosphere vs. in the real world is different from each other, most of the time. Why? Because in real life I have so many constraints to show my real personal style, it can be because of lack of confidence, my mother's opinion, and the "common fashion norms" in the society (and the weather too). Therefore the presence of Blog is very beneficial for someone like me - a person who is sometime too ashamed to express her genuine personality and fashion preferences to the real world. Well, you can say that this blog is actually my alter-ego, perhaps?

Autumnal // All Hail Vintage!

Greetings to you all!

Again, there has been lack of post. Please do excuse me.

My body condition has been decreasing lately, even today actually I have a lil' fever and sore throat. Furthermore, campus life is creating a time-starved lifestyle and also I've been occupied with Christmas preparation at church. Lack of sleep also contributes to this decreasing body condition.

Anyway, this is a debut post using my new SLR camera. I'm using Nikon D3000, which is good for an amateur like me. Fine quality pictures with such a low price - since I have this major budget constraint.

About the outfit.

I titled this post "All Hail Vintage!". Why? Because I wear almost anything vintage here: the vintage pattern blazer, the white detailed collar shirt, & thrifted denim shorts. And why autumnal? Because the color & the pattern of this vintage blazer characterize autumnal atmosphere. Well, there's no autumn season here in Indonesia obviously. But at least we can create the "atmosphere" right?

Err, too much color saturation here.

I personally love the detail on the collar.

Hello everyone!

I don't have much to say, since I've been chased by time (I'm blogging in the car), I just want to say: Happy 1st Anniversary of The Fad Madness!! (29/09/2011 - 29/09/2012)

Yes, time flies so fast, this blog has reached its first year. I know I'm not a super fabulous blogger or what, but I'm pretty grateful about what I have been done. And to all of you who has been following this unworthy blog since its first launching, I thank you! To all of you who has been this blog follower or reader, I also thank you for all the lovely support! I adore all of you!!

I realized that my blogging quality has been decreasing in the past few weeks/months and I promise myself to be more thoughtful and creative henceforward. Yet, I'm not so ambitious in this fashion blogging world, because I know there will be one day that I may not continue this activity - this is just a hobby, not a permanent career. But at least I have planned to maintain and developing this blog (and also re-branding this blog) for the next 3-4 years. I want this blog to be consistent to its name. FAD stands for Fashion-Art-Design, so I will post anything that relate to it.

This is just a quick post, since I couldn't do any proper photo shoot. Please do forgive, this campus life and stuffs are just so damn hegemonic until I almost can't breathe: more and more assignments each week. The 5th semester is like a glimpse of hell; though it sounds exaggerating.

This photos were taken last week, just right before Communication Research Methods class: such an lethal subject for this semester. I always feel this kind of "gloomy" feeling everytime I enter this class. It explains why I chose a vivid, bright color-block outfit. That day I chose to wear my turquoise cotton shirt with the peach skinny pants with some silver accessories to boost up my mood, to brighten up the gloomy day. Actually, it helped (or it was just merely a suggestion?). If you don't feel like studying or even too lazy to go to campus, try wearing and combining bright colors. Perhaps it can be your mood booster.

And FYI, these photos were taken by Putche's iPad. Yes, I'm a gadget-less blogger. I don't even have my own SLR camera. Why? Because in my dad's eyes, I'm such an untrustworthy person. I have lost my cellphone 3 times: yes, I'm a careless, absent-minded, & clumsy human being. But thank God, I have successfully persuaded my dad to buy a SLR camera (after all this time, finally!). Well, let's hope I won't be such a fool to lose it.

Yes, yes I know that Spring 2013 Show is still going. Everyone seem wants to be as up-to-date as possible, posting Spring 2013 Shows in her blog. But, why so hurry? This is still September, dude, relax. And we sometimes forget that many good things come from Resort Show - many trends from Resort are being repeated in Spring show. For me, Resort is like the prequel of Spring Show - or a teaser you can say. So, this post is dedicated to the almost-forgotten Resort 2013 Shows. How? By wearing a trimmed-shirt mixed with either a pleats or A-line skirt. And the skirts aren't mini. An instant lady like!

Campus Outfit // Pink Blazer

Back on with casual style: now it's time for campus outfit post!

This photos were actually taken last week, when I was taking photos for Putche's blog. Don't expect for a super-wow look, because this is just a campus outfit, just an everyday outfit. The only special thing that I wore is just this vintage pink blazer.

Wearing a vintage tailored blazer to campus is actually a troublesome. Why? Because the heat and temperature here are just intolerable: if you want a natural tan, just go here, in Depok. It's almost like there are two suns here. Yet I still wore it, for the sake of personal style. I like wearing tailored blazer, plus, it's a pastel pink blazer. Anyway, beauty is pain, right? Sometime there is some "sacrifice" to look good.

Casual // Tosca-Pink Vintage Shirt

Another treasure being found from my mother's closet: this tosca & pink vintage loose shirt.

It's such a eye-popping stuff, with a contrasting colors on one shirt. I kinda believe this is my mother's from the 80s. I mean, loose - baggy shirt, with vivid colors, it's so 80's. This contrasting colors kinda represents my inner self. I have this contradictory personality: I can be very secretive & anti-social, but I also can be a witty, goofy, and laughable person.

Anyway, I "tamed" down this shirt with a acid washed vintage denim short which is from Pasar Baru in only IDR 25000. I actually feel kinda reluctant wearing shorts like this, since I have this huge-enormous-fatty thighs, but I started to accept the way I am, include my body shape. If you guys notice, I almost never wear minis or shorts, actually because I feel insecure with my body shape. I have this pear body shape: small on the upper part and big on the lower part. I have this huge and fatty butt and thighs which makes me feel not confident to wear minis. Until I say to myself: "Who cares? Just wear what you want to wear!" This is one of the key to be confident: self-acceptance.

Hello guys!

Here's another look with the signature BLANCTERIA Ghost Shirt that I already wore in the previous look. I never regret buying this shirt: it can be mixed and matched with many style! You can pull this shirt in casual, preppy, tomboy, even feminine style. So I decided to wear this multi-function shirt with my vintage yellow polkadot pleats skirt - which was owned by my grandma. But since this skirt is a lil bit oversized, so I put a little belt to accentuate the waist. The skirt with the belt creates a vintage-preppy-feminine style to the shirt. And, I still can mixed this Ghost shirt with other stuff to create a totally different style! Nice job, BLANCTERIA!!

My Favorite Looks from NYFW So Far

New York Fashion Week is getting interesting each day. Here's some of my favorite looks which I think pretty much wearable - some pieces that you actually want to wear. I personally love Helmut Lang and 3.1 Phillip Lim, at least until now.

(Left) I just adore the matching tank with blazer and the sporty pastel pants: it's all perfectly together. Love the structure.

(Right) Nice easy-breezy feel with light fabric sweater & semi sheer white 3/4 pants.

(Left) I just looove the pattern textured jacket with neon orange shirt & black skinny pants. This is very wearable!

(Right) Brilliant layering consists of a white tees & peek-a-boo oversize crochet sweater, mixed with pattern pants. Adorable.

(Left) The pattern clash is breathtaking. Love every piece of this combination, and the mismatch patterns even make this looks better.

(Right) Mix mix and match! Great fuchsia jacket with graphic tees underneath & floral pants.

(Left) When a grunge style looks sophisticated. Love the idea of leopard arm on the sweater & the jeans is a major coolness.

(Right) What can be better and cooler than denim patch shirt? And mixed with blue leopard pants? You have my heart.

If only I can have every pieces of these looks~

Hanging Out @Kota Kasablanka // Blancteria

Hello everyone!

I personally think that malls in Jakarta are already too much, and yet there are still new malls being built. Now there are at least 2 brand new malls that I know: Kuningan City and Kota Kasablanka. Both of them are still in the same territory. I thought "What the hell? Another mall? Isn't there enough consumerism in our society?" But although I dislike it, yet I still cannot find a good place for hanging out besides malls. Sad isn't it?

Well, last Sunday I went to Kota Kasablanka and it turned out that this mall isn't that bad. It's spacious and strategic. There I met Putche and we were hanging out + taking pictures (and we were anxious with the security because we took pictures in public places).

I wore the unbranded bowler hat and gold necklace, Rubi leopard tote bag (that I bought in Singapore for only 5 SGD!), New Look black skinny pants, unbranded brown wedges lace-up boots, & BLANCTERIA GHOST SHIRT. This Ghost Shirt is from BLANCTERIA's prior collection.

Galaxy Legging // Red Oxford

I know, I know, the galaxy legging trend now is fading away. I remember in the past few months galaxy was so "in" and it is perceived as "hipster". Furthermore, lately I observed that the denim shirt (with all buttoned) is everywhere and I subconsciously categorized this as hipster style. So, galaxy legging + buttoned denim shirt (plus an oxford shoes) = hipster enough?

Btw, don't ever think I bought this galaxy legging at Romwe or Topshop, I bought this at a random shop in Skywalk PIM 2, with only IDR 130000. The denim shirt? It's my dad's. The red lil belt is only IDR 15000. The most expensive item is the red oxford which is from VNC.

Dreamcatcher necklace is so happening. I didn't put so much interest on them until I found this dreamcatcher - look alike necklace with colorful feathers. Wear a simple basic clothes - either white or black - and add some "spice" with a colorful accessories. Simply twisted!

Finally a full body outfit post.

Yeah I have managed to take this pictures at my dad's karaoke room because it has a pretty good lighting. Anyway please do forgive the not-so-HD pics, I have this ancient camera with low resolution - that's why I edit a lot.

Around one month ago I went to a thrift store in Juanda Street (Ciputat) and found this tribal tank - which is not a secondhand piece - for IDR 45000. And when I see the label, it is from an Indonesian ethnic brand. I'm not into tribal pattern so much, but due to my impulsive shopping behavior, I finally bought it. Although I'm not a fan of ethnic style, yet when I scrutinized the tribal pattern from this tank, I kinda adore it - and it matches well with my old burgundy pants. The outerwear that I'm wearing is actually a blazer, a collarless blazer to be precise. I found it in my mother's closet.

Right now tribalism is on the way up, it becomes one of the latest fashion trend. While in real life, a "tribalism" behavior is condemned.

Btw I actually feel that this style isn't really "me", I'm actually more into preppy vintage look with collars or oxford shoes. But it's okay to be different sometimes right?

Pay Attention to Details! - CARVEN FALL 2012 SHOW

I was checking on some Resort 2013 Shows and stumbled upon this designer: Carven. Then I also explored Carven Fall 2012 Show and my eyes was absorbed to the details. A true love of first sight!

In general, Carven Fall 2012 reminds me of the Medieval Era where the church was still reigning, Gothic Cathedral with the colorful stained glass, Medieval tapestry and also paintings. The theme was interesting and Carven had successfully put the Medieval touch in a very youthful style. How brilliant!

Still with a simple easy post: now it's time for polkadot collar. Collar is one of my favorite trend, for it creates an instant preppy, prim, yet edgy look at the same time. I bought this black sheer shirt with polkadot in Yellow Line store, PIM.

Vintage Military (Back on Track!)

Back on blogging track!

During this 2 months of vacuum state, I've been contemplating & have some reflexive moment (despite of my hectic campus life lately).

IDK why, but perhaps due to some critical exposure derived from my campus subjects, I've been in the state where I lost my interest in fashion blogging. It doesn't mean that I'm going to stop my fashion blogging activity, but I will change my blogging style. What kind of change? You'll see in my post after this.
