Atonement and 500 Days of Summer stills via here and here

Two of the stills from this post both included some pretty noticeable (and gorgeous) wallpaper, so I decided to use those as the basis for today's entry. While floral and toile paper are fairly easy to come by in the world of wall coverings, the vintage-inspired designs above are stand-outs, in my eyes.

Recommence.

After a long absence from The Fake House, I'm finally back. Good things are coming soon! In the meantime, here are a few screenshots that have been providing inspiration...

I positively cannot wait for this:

The whole trailer is amazing (and gets bonus points for starring Shosanna from Inglourious Basterds), but the sets seem particularly charming. The film is still only in limited release, so there is quite a lack of screenshots, as of yet. However, I did come across one from a clip in the trailer and I am now desperately wanting to get a hold of the horseshoe chair on the left:

This option from 1st Dibs is currently priced at $875 (for ONE chair):

Oh, but one can dream.

...I thought I'd honor the great Tina Fey today by doing a little "Ode to 30 Rock".

Many of Jonathan Adler's designs are as cheeky as they come, so it seemed appropriate to juxtapose some of his products with shots from one of funniest, quirkiest shows on TV.

Oh, True Grit, you kill me. You, with your Coen Brother-y goodness and your containment of Jeff Bridges, are pretty fantastic. Unfortunately, your lack of desirable indoor sets is causing this to be more of an "inspired by" post, rather than one that "re-creates".

I Love You, "I Love You, Man" House

By far, some of the best examples of modern mid century style can be be seen in the I Love You, Man sets. The film's main house (shared by on-screen couple Rashida Jones and Paul Rudd) is almost too perfect, but it gets a pass due to Jones' character portraying an interior designer.

...for obvious reasons, on this day of April the 29th, I wanted to showcase a little of the set design from Notting Hill. Although the Hugh Grant/Julia Roberts flick isn't one of my all-time favorites, the sets are absolutely fantastic and oh-so-very-English.

Bueller...

So, Ferris Bueller's Day Off is one of my all-time favorite movies and, although Mr. Broderick's character is generally the most loved, his house in the movie can't hold a candle to Cameron's. In 2009, the iconic home, located in Highland Park, Illinois, sold for $2.3 million.

A Little Movie Inspiration

I loved this film, not only for the incredible story (and Colin Firth), but also for the gorgeous set and costume design. I just found out that some of the production design team from Mad Men actually worked on A Single Man, which explains a lot of the awesomeness in the 1960s decor.
