I am so pleased my 7 year old is already making college plans, I am even more thrilled that the life she is living on the farm has made such a positive impact on her short life.

It was only a few years ago that we made the move to the farm. But, it has just been during the past year that we have all began to truly enjoy the life we have chosen. Busy careers kept us from really being able to show the girls how much fun the farm could be and all the life lessons that could be gained. Our kids were used to living in a rural development where they seldom left the house and Nickelodeon on TV.

We are now experimenting with various ways we can share our farm and the possibilities it holds with others. The girls planted their first patch of sweet corn and got to spend time selling it in their roadside stand. They have named their venture Charging Skunk Farms. They are using their imaginations to come up with fun ways to market their products even holding secret sister meetings to discuss their next steps and dividing up the roles needed to run their venture.

I am excited about the opportunities our 3 girls are being given by being active farm kids. My goal is to teach them they don't have to settle for just being the farmer's daughters, they can also be the farmers.
