Kevin Harvick won the Sprint Cup Series race at Richmond and that was awesome. Although I was super sad for Juan Pablo Montoya because he was SO close to winning on an oval. Fox showed his crew chief, Chris Heroy, and talked about how it would have been his first win ever as a chief and that made me want them to win all the more because I’m a sucker for a 1st time winner.

So when something like that happens it feels like your heart is actually breaking. Like, it’s just dying. The realistic side of me knew that I would get through it. I just had to let those feelings happen and run their course. And they did and I got on with life. Now I’m dealing with “What do I do now??”

Let me tell you that this is not fun. I’m 32, single and childless. I want to be 32, married and pregnant. Why tiptoe around that? That’s what I want, it’s the truth. But before anyone starts talking about desperation, I’m not going to run into the arms of ANY dude that comes along. I can’t fake things, especially not my emotions. (Although, if Bradley Cooper would like to “take me away from all this” I’d go gladly, no questions asked.)

Anyone who knows me, knows that I have a terrible poker face. I dumped the guy I was going to go to my junior prom with a week before the dance because I felt more like his therapist than his girlfriend. Going to the dance alone was not at ALL what I wanted to do — and it sucked — but I couldn’t stay with him because it just wasn’t the right thing for either of us, even if the timing was terrible.

So with that said I’m obviously looking for something real, something substantial. I know that I don’t NEED a man, but I WANT one.

But let’s just face it. I’m tired. I’m like Charlotte from the Sex and the City where she gets so frustrated and just yells “I’ve been dating since I was 15! I’m exhausted! Where is he???”

That’s EXACTLY where I am right now. Like, I have no desire to put forth ANY effort whatsoever to land a dude. I just want him to show up and MAKE AN EFFORT to get to know me and ask me out. I’m always the one who puts forth effort, for once I want to be pursued.

The thought, just the mere idea, of going back to match.com or eHarmony makes me want to vomit. I don’t know if I can do that again — sift through profiles and then wait for someone to write back and then have that first phone call and hope that goes well enough to want to meet them for coffee. And then have to go to that coffee shop and PRAY that they’re great enough to want to go on another date. There are so many mini milestones that you have to hope to get through just to get to the point that you have someone good enough to eat dinner with.

I’m at the point in my life where I really want to have a baby. While my experience with my father makes the idea of purposely being a single mother not at all appealing to me, I’m starting to feel like time really isn’t on my side. I’m losing more viable eggs as I type this sentence. I don’t want to wait for “the right time” because what if there isn’t one?? And people always tell me that there never really is a “right time” anyway. I can do what I can to make sure I’m in a good place financially but there isn’t a whole lot I can do to control whether or not the right guy, THE guy, is there to marry me.

So I have no idea what’s next, or rather WHO’S next, but I know that I won’t settle and I won’t let a lack of a love life stop me from experiencing motherhood.

So Kevin Harvick was pissed at Brian Vickers for holding him up and after the race he showed his displeasure by hitting the back of his car, prompting Vickers to spin out. That was the most perfect punting of another car that I’ve seen in quite some time. I loved it and every time they showed it it cracked me up.

Also, how ridiculously adorable is it when they show little Keelan Harvick sitting in his dad’s racecar before each race? He’s too cute! I love that he reaches for the wheel instinctively whenever he’s in the seat. It’s too much cuteness. I’ve decided I’m just going to have a baby on my own, right now, I don’t care. My ovaries are pissed I waited this long. (Calm down, I’m kidding, sort of.)

The plot is this:

In the competitive world of modern agriculture, ambitious HENRY WHIPPLE (Dennis Quaid) wants his rebellious son DEAN (Zac Efron) to help expand his family’s farming empire. However, Dean has his sights set on becoming a professional race car driver. When a high-stakes investigation into their business is exposed, father and son are pushed into an unexpected crisis that threatens the family’s entire livelihood.

I’m intrigued and not just because it has a racing plot point but mostly because it looks interesting. I don’t know much about how the world of farming has changed and I’m curious how the “unexpected crisis” unfolds, PLUS Roger Ebert gave it a good review. I trust that man.

Anyway, the super bright spot was that my friend Heather from the O.C. went as a representative of The Fast and the Fabulous and she took a bunch of awesome photos. Here are my random thoughts about Sunday’s events:

– Tony Stewart is a truly creative man. I loved how he was able to use such a wide variety of curse words in his post-race interview with FOX. I also found it funny that even though they bleeped all of them I knew exactly what he said.

– Joey Logano didn’t do anything wrong. Denny Hamlin didn’t do anything wrong. They were racing and they put on a show and I love them for it.

– I’m glad Denny Hamlin is OK in the overall sense, but definitely also hope that the compression fracture in his lower back doesn’t hinder his long-term career.

– The racing at Fontana just keeps getting better. The finish on Sunday was right up there with the one from a couple years ago when Kevin Harvick beat Jimmie Johnson for the win. I give that one extra points because I was right there watching it from pit road, so it seemed even MORE amazing.

– Dale Earnhardt Jr. is leading the points standings in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. Hell yes.

Confident, maybe? Assertive? It made him seem even more attractive to me. I know, you’d think that wouldn’t be possible for the guy that’s won the Hottest Driver Tournament for the past two years but apparently it is!

While I loved Denny Hamlin walking out to “Big Poppa” with his itty bitty baby daughter, Taylor strapped to his chest — she’s such a cutie — I wasn’t ask thrilled with his incident with Joey Logano during the race. I guess I’m not on anyone’s side I just thought the back & forth between the two on Twitter was weird. Not bad or silly, just weird. Why not just talk about it in person? Why didn’t Denny just get out of his car and talk about it with Joey? It’s weird especially since they used to be teammates.

Although, is it really? I have co-workers I’d rather not talk to and we’re all on the same side in terms of a “team” but still if I left and we had a argument I probably wouldn’t be calling them to work it out. So maybe I do get it after all, even if I think it’s strange to be sending silly high school-style messages over Twitter.

In other news…

So it turns out that I’m NOT going to Auto Club Speedway this week like I’d planned. It sucks big time, but there’s just nothing I can do about it. Que sera, sera!

19-year-old Alex Bowman is running full-time in the Nationwide Series for RAB Racing with Brack Maggard. He’s a rookie this year but he’s got a veteran on his side in the form of Daymond John, CEO and Founder of FUBU, a $6 billion global fashion brand. Daymond’s team at Shark Branding has taken on Alex to help him secure sponsorship opportunities.

As a young dude who’s passionate about things like EDM (Electronic Dance Music) and technology, Shark Branding & Daymond John see him as the perfect driver to bring in new types of sponsors to NASCAR. I found this partnership interesting in that the focus is on building sponsors around Alex, brands and sponsors that are authentic to who Alex is on and off the track. It’s an intriguing angle, one that makes sense considering that all sponsors — whether it’s a personal contract or a sponsorship of an entire race team — are investing in a person and their personality. I just think it’s cool that they’re starting out on the personal side first.

I had the opportunity to speak with both Daymond and Alex and I can say that they’re both excited about working together. Alex is focused on having a successful year on the track, as that is always priority #1, he’s currently 10th in the points standings heading into Auto Club Speedway.

And as it turns out, Daymond John will also be on hand for the Royal Purple 300 in Fontana this weekend, he will serve as Honorary Starter for the race.
