As women our emotions play a key role in our self-esteem and body image. Our moods can be ever-changing depending on our experiences, environments and hormones. Like our emotions, our body image can be shaped by the opinions of friends, family, culture and the media from the time we are young girls.

For many women, our body image has its ups and downs. If we are in our favorite little black dress with a fresh manicure, our outlook on the world is positive. We stand taller and speak with confidence. However, when it is swimsuit season, our body image and in-turn, self-esteem might hit rock bottom.

No matter how you feel about your body image, when the weather warms up and the swimsuits hit the stores, we all do a double-take to make sure we’re swimsuit ready. I personally stress over trying to find a swimsuit that will fit me right, keep me from having a Janet Jackson moment, and hide the parts I am not comfortable with yet. My slender girlfriends worry they aren’t shapely enough, while my curvy friends stress over too many curves. So why do we spend hours and hours each Spring shopping? Why do we all have so many different colors, styles and shapes of swimsuits if we don’t like wearing them?

This year, I’ve found something amazing that could be…dare I say it…life changing. Here is a really hard looking, but actually easy to do, glitter eye makeup tutorial from Beat Face Honey. She makes really good beauty tutorials on Youtube. This one is great because she doesn’t use that many eyeshadow colors and only a few glitter colors. She also breaks the steps down in an easy to comprehend way.

Also just wanted to let you know that I bought my mom this eyeshadow palette from Sephora that is too cute for words. We might have to share her Mother’s Day present.
