Temporary Agencies Draining The US

It is sad enough that a nation that once was exuding wealth and jobs is now plummeting, but the fact that nobody has commented on temporary agencies and how they are manipulating the working class citizens is beyond comprehension.

I have worked for temp. agencies. They use terms like "pain in the ass employees are always giving a sob story" and "we work for the companies not the employees".

I heard it first hand. No shit!

It has became cool and acceptable to be cold at heart for the sake of a supposed profit.

The fact is temporary agencies consider the company they are hiring for "their customer" and "their customer" is always right.

They consider the employee just that ... an employee of the temporary agency. Not a potential "customer's" employee. Meaning they have no intention of getting you a full time position with a company because they would lose a reliable employee themselves then they would be stuck with the many of unreliables that walk in their door daily.

I understand that they have to deal with all sorts of people who are not all worthy of a good job or dependable. BUT! If everyone in the world started, or should I say keeps on, judging the next person by previous bad experiences we are all going to look like total assholes.

It is great to learn and be aware from previous bad events but don't be tainted.

The government should really take a hard look at who is controlling the jobs in this country. I grew up thinking the government was formed to protect the people. Now that I am older I think the government protects corporations more than the people working for them.

PDF Files - The Right Way

Before we had PDFs we could only see a file if we installed a program that would work with that file type. PDFs made life easier. We can now view files that you could normally not see without having the program.

I would say Acrobat has created one of the best programs you can have - a must have at that.

But, as with any program, it is only as good as the one who utilizes it.

For instance, when creating a PDF to proof images made you must flatten the image. This will keep your text format the way you see them on your screen. If you do not do this you will see a Curlz font that you used on your screen and the recipient could see a basic Arial font because it will default to the font of the recipient despite the fact you actually designed it with the Curlz font.

PDF creations are seriously lacking when sending documents as a form. If you or your company scans forms to send to clients then you are expecting your clients/customers to have a printer and a scanner. I never assume anything.

ASSUME - It makes an ASS out of U & ME!

Rather than assuming your client has this equipment ready at their fingertips and the knowledge on how to use it - CREATE AN INTERACTIVE FORM.

Forms are so great and much more professional than a blurry scanned PDF.
The recipient can type in the information quickly using the tab button to navigate to each entry box. They CAN electronically sign a form and it will stand up in a court of law with the right jargon. And, best of all, they still have the option of printing the form out if they prefer to stay old school.

Every company needs to be as professional as possible. Even the smallest companies. So impress everyone with your PDF creation skills.

The Whole Truth & Nothing But

The truth is so much easier to come up with than a lie. Sometimes it is harder to say but in the end it always makes life easier if you tell the truth.

Why is this so hard for many people to do today?
I have seen many people tell a lie while looking you straight in the eye.
Then, if confronted with the truth, they get defensive. Why lie to begin with?

There are other ways to tell lies without literally telling a lie. This is the most deceptive way to manipulate the truth. For instance, if you know the truth is that you upset a person and you let that person think it was someone else then you might as well be telling a lie.

Omitting information you know is sought is also telling a lie.
I once had a boss that would sell customized clothing to people. He promised to meet deadlines, he promised the clothes were made of great material, he would pretend to look out for the customer's welfare. It all was a lie.

Sometimes he knew he could not meet deadlines so he would up the price of the sale. Then after the customer paid more he would not meet their deadline. He knew he could get the material they wanted but he wanted to save a penny so he bought cheaper material while explaining to the customer it was "just as good". It wasn't.

The worst thing is he would act as if his items were made at his location. People in that area took great pride in getting items made from their same area. They wanted to support their community. When, in fact, he would have them made elsewhere and shipped to his location.

Some would call this business. I call it lies and manipulation. If you cannot fathom a way to conduct honest business then you are not intelligent enough to be a business person.

Telling lies, in my opinion, is nothing more than being to lazy to tell the truth.

Craigslist Ups & Downs

Craigslist Ups & Downs

I have used Craigslist.org for over 5 years now. It has helped me throughout my travels.

You never know what are the major newspapers when you are moving between cities. Using Craigslist has eliminated the need to buy 5 papers to get the best classifieds. This is great except for the fact that everyone is not computer literate. So, I still could have missed out on many career opportunities if I would have not also bought the local publications.

The best thing about Craigslist is that it is free. That really gives no one room to complain about the services. Yet, this is a free digital world and I will cry if I want to.

One thing that drives me crazy is the amount of spam on CL. I flag spam regularly and still the same jackass posts the same ad 20 minutes later. They should really invest on blocking an IP address or e-mail address once that person is reported and the reports have been confirmed. At least make them work to spread the spam funk.

I appreciate the complete lack of popup ads and advertising. This really makes a viewer feel like they are at the right place for the right reason. Not just someone lured onto yet another site to increase the revenue of pay per click employees.

Craigslist reminds me of my grandfather. They built something great but they do not want to change a thing because they feel like it could ruin what they have. If I could give them advice it would be not to let the times pass you by. You could get left behind in a nursing home waiting for your final demise.

This is the first day of the rest of my public life.

I intend to blog about anything and everything in the perspective of a woman. Mainly, in my own way.

For men, this could be a portal into how a woman thinks or just something more to complain about.

For other women, this could be a way to relate to someone or maybe just another opportunity to scratch at my opinions while making yourself feel better.

Either way, feel free to scratch or complain.
I am sure there is medication for each.

I will start by revealing a little about my past.
There is no need to go into great detail.

I have lived in many U.S. states ranging from Alaska to Florida. I have worked for many small business owners and some major corporations like Toyota.
I am a 30 something year old woman. (Low thirties mind you.)

I am married but have no children. I have fostered children and I have cared for many children that were, of course, not my own.
I have helped a couple of people get off drugs though I have never been an avid drug user myself. I am not saying I have not smoked a joint. I am saying I have not indulged in chronic chemical drug use.

With that said - I will begin this blog. I will define random things that cross my path or mind with my opinion. Feel free to share you opinion.
