help but notice that Fast Company has a slew of interesting articles going on right now.

For instance, check out this article on planes powered by algae. Or the U.S. as the greatest innovator.

This one on wireless electricity stands out the most:

But strap on your rubber boots; Tesla's dream has come true. After more than 100 years of dashed hopes, several companies are coming to market with technologies that can safely transmit power through the air -- a breakthrough that portends the literal and figurative untethering of our electronic age. Until this development, after all, the phrase "mobile electronics" has been a lie: How portable is your laptop if it has to feed every four hours, like an embryo, through a cord? How mobile is your phone if it shuts down after too long away from a plug? And how flexible is your business if your production area can't shift because you can't move the ceiling lights?

Yeah. Everything is too fractionated to have that type of all engrossing, hypnotic, musical hold over the majority of a national or global audience--but that doesn't mean that there isn't music happening. These three artists are moving music forward. No doubt.

We live in a disposal culture, true. Yet innovation still exists.

Michael Franti (Spearhead) @ Indie 103.1 FM

Performing Yell Fire and Bomb the World.

'...they telling you to never worry about the fewture...'

Cadillac Records

the Fewture loves the blues, so Cadillac Records is a welcome look at 1950s blues culture.

According to Philly.com's Carrie Rickey:

In 1950, as the blues, gospel and jazz cross-pollinated but before Detroit's Motown, before Memphis' Sun and Stax - and well before Philadelphia International Records - there was Chicago's Chess label. Those of a certain age fondly remember its logo, a silhouette of a king chess piece flanked by those of bishop and knight.
Cadillac Records, Darnell Martin's boisterous, if not always factual, account of the house that Muddy Waters, Howling Wolf, Chuck Berry and Etta James built, is a variety show of the personalities and music that spawned the urbanization of the blues and midwifed the birth of rock-and-roll.

The cast includes Columbus Short, Mos Def, Tammy Blanchard, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Adrien Brody, Gabrielle Union, Jeffrey Wright, Beyoncé Knowles, Cedric the Entertainer, and Norman Reedus.

A Moron Makes My Day

Thanks to mruttan.

808 and Heartbreak

d says they've been calling it his Nebraska. I can see why.

Kanye West's new album, 808 and Heartbreak, along with Q-Tip's The Renaissance are probably the most artistic hiphop albums we've seen in the last five years.

Since Black Starr.

Aside from maybe the Roots, of course.

But honestly, Kanye may have just redefined hiphop. So that's Katy Perry.

My lovely woman has been walking around singing 'I Kissed a Girl' for months. From what she says, she likes the beat and finds it catchy.

I'm actually not all that into the song. I have nothing against it. But I just find the rhythm to be somewhat of a trainwreck. Sorry, that's me.

But, anyone who knows me, knows that MGMT's Electric Feel is one of my favorite songs. And that I love every single remix/version I hear of it cause it adds just one more flavor to it.

So, one of my favorite versions, besides the Justice remix, is by this chick with this awesome voice. It's live, super smooth and chill but captures MGMT's funk feel to it.

Yeah. So I just Googled Katy Perry and thought I'd find some little known singer.

Hey. I never claimed to follow Pop trends in music.

Katy Perry - Electric Feel (MGMT Cover)

Morihei Ueshiba Aikido Video

Via the Learn Aikido blog.

Japan Airline's CEO Haruka Nishimatsu Cuts his Salary

And his perks.
