I love this cover almost more than MILA 2.0. The red and oranges are just amazing!

LIKES:

The descriptiveness of this mini story is really great; you really get a sense of being there.

DISLIKES:

I had no clue what was going on or how this was relevant to MILA 2.0!

OVERALL:

Although I have a beautiful copy of MILA 2.0 sitting in my book bin I have yet to read it, sad I know. I think that the lack of reading MILA 2.0 may have been the cause of my confusion while reading MILA 0.5. I decided to read MILA 0.5 first because, well its 0.5 so reading it first should be fully acceptable right???I may have made a wrong turn on that decision, lol.

MILA 0.5 is a very short, about 15 pages of nonstop high impact what is going on words on pages. The story is one panic filled blur that MILA is feeling while being involved in what she thinks is a fire. Whether or not the fire is actually happening, we didn’t really find out. Is MILA asleep, is she seeing things, where are her parents, what’s going on? Although I was confused, I was still able to enjoy the story and it left me wanting more, it left me wanting to read MILA 2.0 much more than I did before.

I would recommend this short story to anyone who has ALREADY read MILA 2.0 as I think that it was meant to read after not before the first book. All and all it was a nice short story.

YAY, it's 2013! I can't believe 2012 is gone and 2013 is here! Like most of you guys I am super excited for all the new books coming out this year and a little saddened for the series that will be ending. I hope to blog more this year (don't we all) and to connect with all of my blogging friends in new and different ways !

LIKES:
The cover is absolutely gorgeous! Who doesn't love Pink and Black goth?

DISLIKES:
The story gets pretty predictable mid-way through.

OVERALL REVIEW:
Something Strange and Deadly had me at hello. The cover drew me in and I had to know more. I hate to admit it, but this book is my first ever Zombie read and yes I had my reservations about a Zombie story. Would it be cheesy night of the living dead rejects ...all the reasons why I had never read a Zombie story before? We would have to wait and see, so page one I jumped in with an open, but cautious mind.

Something Strange and Deadly focuses largely around Eleanor. Eleanor has a dead father, a missing brother, a broke family, and a marriage driven mother how much worse could Eleanors life get..... how about random zombie attacks?! Right there in Philadelphia zombies are running rampid killing everyone in site, but they also seem to be paying extra special attention to a particular group of somebodies.

Why are the zombies here? What and who do they want? And most importantly have they taken Eleanors brother? Eleanor, unlike other girls of her time isn't going to sit around sweating in her petty coat to find out, she heads right down to the museum in Philadelphia to try and get to the bottom of this whole zombie debacle by enlisting the help of zombie hunters.

While Eleanor thinks she has the answers she needs she soon realizes that the zombies are anything but coincidence and the reasons behind them being in Philadelphia are more terrifying than she would've ever imagined.

I rather enjoyed Something Strange and Deadly being that I live right over the bridge from Philadelphia in NJ I could easily visualize the old Philadelphia streets and museums. This novel is a perfect October read to help you get into the Halloween mood and I would recommend it to anyone who is just starting out with zombies, loves zombies or is looking for a fictional historical read.

LIKES:

Of course the cover is gorgeous!

DISLIKES:

Mid-way through you figure out the majority of the story, that was a bummer.

OVERALL REVIEW:

Glimmer has a beautiful cover and I was drawn in immediately, however the synopsis had me confused. Zombies? Angry Teen Mutants? Ghost? Who knew, I know I couldn't really tell where exactly Glimmer was going, but I wanted to find out.

From page 1 you are thrown in to a whirl wind of confusion right there along side the characters. Although at times I wished I knew what was happening the confusion did add to the the intensity and the connection between them and you. Together you, Elyse and Marshall try to figure what the heck is going on in this town, where the their memories went and why everything and everyone is so creepy around Summer Falls.

I quickly fell in love with the style of writing Kitanidis uses and the every other chapter different perspective technique. I can't say I fell in love with Elyse right away, but I loved Marshal from the very start.

The longer these two are together the more they discover how different they were before the day they woke up with no memory and how much they need each other now more than ever.Their developing interest in each other seems far fetched and much to quick until the full story unveils itself, once it does you see that this was long in the making, not just some fly by night romance. Does it have a love triangle? Well what good YA book these days doesn't! Could it have done without the triangle? I think so, but it was short lived so for the time it was there it was decent entertainment value.

There is a specific point in the book when I feel the author reveals a bit to much, a simple story, to me reveals far to much and I was able to pretty much guess what was going to happen and what had previously happened to cause all this mayhem from that page forward. This was a little disappointing, but the rest of the book did fill in the minor details of some who's and some hows.

Overall, Glimmer was a really good quick read that will make you not want to put it down until u have finished it.

The cover is amazing! And hello it's the sequel to Delirium!

DISLIKES:
The beginning of the book titled"NOW".

OVERALL REVIEW:
OK, so see how confused you were after reading the "dislikes" about this book? I mean where was I going with that comment, what did I mean? Welcome to my world! Chapter 1 in Pandemonium is set in "NOW", which as you guessed is Lena's present. Pandemonium is told in alternating Now and Then chapters. A few chapters in it starts to make sense and I really started to like it, but when you first open the book the story just takes off like a bullet train and you have no clue where it's going, where it's been or where the heck you are.Don't worry reading the end of Delirium one last time will not help you, as Pandemonium does not flow seamlessly from Delirium.Bare with Pandemonium and by chapter 3 you should be okay.
Lena has completely grown up since we last saw her in Delirium. No longer is she a naive young girl scared of the world outside her fences. Where that girl used to be now stands a courageous, callused girl who is ready to tackle the day before her come hell or high water....and believe me both hell and high water come rushing in soon enough.
Pandemonium does not suffer from the sequel blues and I actually thought it was better than Delirium.Olivers writing has more depth and the characters are well rounded in Pandemonium. Lena really comes into her own and becomes a force to be reckoned with.
So, I bet your wondering what happened to Alex right? Well, you'll just have to read the book, however from some of the goodreads predictions many of you are on the right track. I can say that I had my mouth hanging wide open by the time I got to the major cliff hanger at the end!
You will not be dissapointed in Pandemonium and believe me you will be salivating for book three as soon as you turn the last page!

I loved the original story line and the development of the characters.
DISLIKES:
The ending was a bit of a disappointment.
OVERALL REVIEW:
Number one, who doesn't love this cover?! The cover of Incarnate is not only gorgeous, but it's intriguing at the same time. When I received Incarnate for review I beyond excited. With a slew of Angels, Demons,Faeries,Witches,Vampires and Werewolves a novel that has nothing to do with any of them was an appreciated relief. Don't get me wrong I love my Faery books, but anytime a new concept comes along I can appreciate it!
Incarnate particularly spoke to me because it addressed contemporary views of god or a god and also eastern views of the same god. Being someone who believes in reincarnation I was automatically drawn to Ana and her dilemmas.
In our world new lives are born every second, new eyes will see the world for the first time. New ears will hear your voice for the first time. New hearts will fall in love for the first time. In Ana's world new lives stopped being born thousands of years ago.....that was until she came along.
In a world where your father can be your mother in the next life and your sister can be your grandmother in the life after that, the most fascinating thing that happens is wondering when a person will be reborn and what body they will come back in.
Imagine going outside and being fatally hit by a car...your family would shed no tears, no hearts would be broken, because although it may take a year, five years, or ten years you will be reborn and they will see you again. If you knew you would be reborn would you still cherish life? Would you live each day to it's fullest or would you squander the days away knowing that what you don't accomplish in this life, you can in the next?
When Ana is born she throws a wrench into a perfectly built system, you die-you come back, rinse and repeat.But what if you died and Ana was born in your place?
Ana is considered a NOSOUL, someone who has never been reincarnated and will just become part of the earth when she dies. I can only imagine waiting for my sister to be reborn only to discover that a new soul/no soul has been born instead. I would be sad, mad, and heartbroken. I would resent Ana for taking my sisters place and not allowing her to return to me. That is exactly what the city of Heart does to Ana, for 18 years she is resented, hidden away and feared. If one NOSOUL could be born, could others? And if others were born how would they know whose place they would take and who would not be reincarnated?
My heart broke for the way Ana was treated throughout most of the book, an outcast among her own people all she longs for is the answer to why she was born.There are plenty of Dragons and Sylphs to add color to the story and there is no shortage of excitement, drama, and enchantment in Incarnate. From begining to end you watch Ana grow as she come to terms with who she is and who she will never be.
Although I loved 99.9% of Incarnate, the one major problem I had was as I read page after page my mind set up an Asian scenery, from the names to the descriptions of the land and the buildings I created the characters in an Asian culture. However, the cover shows a Caucasian looking girl and at one point in the story refers to her father as looking just like her, so i was confused as to whether Ana was of a mixed heritage or if those where just details that got their wires crossed?
I loved the "love story" and I use that term in a non Twilight way, between Ana and Sam , it felt real and unplanned. Incarnate has more twist and turns than a roller coaster and the layer of mystery surrounding the who,what,where's and whys are never fully lifted.
The ending to Incarnate,although there was a point left unresolved, felt largely like a complete resolution. I actually had to get on Goodreads just to reconfirm that it was in fact part of a series, because I felt it read as if it could be a stand alone.
I'm excited to read book two mainly because I want to see how they unwrap Ana's story and see what magic Jodi is able to work. I would recommend Incarnate to anyone who is looking for a break from the usual, a real page turner(I was up until 3am),and a beautifully written world that whisks you away until you want to immerse yourself in all Ana has to show you!

Like many writers, I’ve always wanted to do this professionally. You know, after I decided against being an astronaut.

Unlike many writers, I didn’t skip straight from picture books to adult novels. I have fond memories of going to Bookstop every month for the latest Baby-Sitters Club (which I kept reading, even after I realized they were never going to let the paranormal elements be real), and even fonder memories of hanging out in my middle school library. The librarians probably knew exactly what they were doing when they suggested book after book and discussed them with me at length. I, of course, had no clue they were turning me into a book addict, but it worked out for the best. Once I found the books where magic and other fantastic elements were real, I was hooked.

When I was twenty, I met a boy, moved 1,500 miles, and married him all within six months. I now realize that was crazy and dangerous, but it seemed natural at the time and, again, worked out for the best. Not only did we stay madly in love, he worked full time at a hard job so I could stay home to write books and, hopefully, one day get published.

The other crazy thing we did was fall in love with ferrets. They have their own bedroom.

My hobbies, aside from spending all my money on books and Kippy/ferret treats, revolve around yarn. I love crocheting, knitting, and spinning. In addition to several handspindles, I share my living room with a spinning wheel named Bob.

FIRST IMPRESSION:

I really loved the green dress on the cover, simplistic and intriguing, the .99 cent price tag didn't hurt either!

LIKES:

The moral of the story is two fold: 1. The world doesn't revolve around you, other people have problems. 2. The things that seem catastrophic now, will reveal themselves to be insignificant as you mature.

DISLIKES:

The main character drove me crazy, that was her role, but man she was annoying!

OVERALL REVIEW:

To be honest I had never even heard of Rachel Vail or Lucky until I was web browsing on Barnes and Noble looking for reasonably priced nook books to purchase. The price and the cover are what drew me to purchase Lucky and I have to say I'm glad I did. Lucky is a contemporary novel that is a few years old, published in 2008, however the story is one that will resonate with readers through the years.

Phoebe is Luckys main character and boy is she a handful! Phoebe is everything you complain about in a tween/teen girl. She is obnoxious, self centered, spoiled, and only thinks about me me me. Phoebe has always had a great life, when she was younger her parents moved to a premier community on a premier street and into a fabulous house with a fabulous school. Through the years Phoebe made friends with girls who were exactly like her, spoiled and that's the way she liked it....until her world came crashing down!

Phoebe and her group of girlfriends had been planning a lavish graduation party all year and things were right on track until Phoebe realizes that a family secret threatens to take all of it away. Throughout Lucky you see Phoebes relationship with her sisters evolve from annoying little sister to a some what trusted confidant. Her and her mother go from two peas in a pod, to two ships passing in the night, to phoebe being the shoulder her mother leans on.

Phoebe a once spoiled, living in her own reality girl is painfully forced to grow up and see that nothing is as she thought it was. Her friendships are not what they seem or what she has made them out to be, her world is not as unbreakable as she once thought it was, and that sometimes sacrificing ones self and wants are for the better good of anothers actual needs.

Bonds are broken and repaired, tears are shed and harsh words are spoken, but through it all Phoebe is able to show her self that true to her mothers words the Avery women are Valkyrie! Watching Phoebe grow up was painful at times, but Lucky was a very real book, with a very real world situations. Vail was able to create a world that hits close to home and reads like a more raw version of a Brady Bunch Episode.

I would recommend this to any teen and to anyone looking for a really great contemporary story that warms your heart, steps on your last nerve, and somehow pulls you though the other side better than when you went in.

I enjoyed the premise of the story...time travel...secrets...love!

The story did not live up to its potential.

OVERALL REVIEW:

When i decided to read the Tempest by Julie Cross I was excited because the premise seemed new and refreshing. From page one I was confused, the story just started and it took a couple of pages for me to get in rhythm with where the story was at, who the characters where and what exactly was going on.

I felt like the main character Jackson was more in love with his geeky best friend than his girlfriend Holly! I never truly felt a complete love connection between Jackson and Holly and their relationship felt more like a friendship where one person likes the other, but never says it so there is a lot of "awkward" space and time.

Once Jackson gets stuck in 2007 after a jump gone wrong( not a spoiler, is in the synopsis) the story just kind of flat lined for me. The Enemies of Time, Secrets about his father, Trying to find a way to get back to 2009 to save Holly all these things should've made for a great action/adventure/mystery, but it ended up being a bad episode of Quantum Leap. Unfortunately, this book was not for me and although I would not recommend it to everyone, I do encourage anyone who likes time travel books to give it a go and let me know how you did or didn't enjoy it.

Unfortunatley, most everything else that didn't have to do with the cover.

OVERALL REVIEW:
Hmmmm.... where to start. First things first, the cover is stunning! When I first read Fury, way back in September, I wasn't sure how to write this review. I am not into author bashing, however Fury was by far not the book for me. I have seen some really great ratings and reviews on Fury and I think that I may be the minority on this one, but nothing about this book worked for me.

At first glance Fury had all the makings of a book that would be at the top of my " Glad I Read List." The synopsis was filled with mystery and lies. I was excited that it was part of a trilogy because I just knew that book 1 would be filled with juicyness in order to make you want to read book two.

For me the problems started almost immediatley. No matter how hard I tried I could never fully connect with Em, Chase, or any of the characters for that matter, they seemed a little flat and one demensional to me. The Furies should have been badass, but to me just ended up being mean girls gone terribly wrong.

I felt like it was pretty easy to pick out who the furies were and that just kind of made me want to stop reading it....so I did. Then, not wanting to leave a book unfinished, I eventually picked Fury back up. The reason the Furies are there in the first place is somewhat lame to me. I don't want to give it away for those who haven't read it, but it reminded me of a cheesey romance novel your mom keeps in a wicker basket.

After reading Josephine Angelinis Starcrossed, my expectation for Furies was set high and the ones in Fury fell all to short for me.

Unfortunetly, I will not be continuing this trilogy and I would not reccomend it to anyone, however if you do decide to read Fury and have a differant opinion than me. Please feel free to comment back and let me know your thoughts!

OVERALL REVIEW:
When I found Unveiled I couldn't wait to read it. I knew of author Trisha Wolfe from YA Bound, a YA Book Review/ Book Tour Hosting blog and in my wait and anticipation for her debut novel Destiny's Fire I decided to read Unveiled to hold me over.
When I purchased Unveiled from B&N, it said it was a Novel, I thought "hmmm...ok this is weird, but I'll go with it." Nope it's a novelette not a novel! I was so disappointed, I really wanted it to be longer because it was so good!
Wolfe builds a world set in a post apocalyptic world, ruled by a secretive dictator and forced to live in the past...like the serious past, in order to try to preserve what world is left within the gates of Karm.
Believe me when I say whatever you think the story is about form looking at the cover, you are only about half right! I expected a Cinderella type world, with some distressed damsel, Fallon is no damsel.
I don't want to ruin the story, but lets just say there is more than meets the eye with Fallon and she is more than capable of taking care of herself! A beautiful connection is built between Fallon and an unlikely male counter part, and it really shows her vulnerable side and brings to light how her whole world has been based on secrets and lies.
I would love to see this develop into a full novel because the story is just that great and from the time I finished Unveiled I have been thinking about what happened to the characters. I will definitely be picking up Wolfes debut novel, if it's as great as her novelette I know I'll be in instant book love!
I'd recommend this to anyone looking for a quick read that leaves you wanting more and more.
