Facts About The Gadget Called Hoverboards

Hoverboards have been really a trending topic and gadget for the past year. These have been called for many names and many other similar variations. This needs to be clarified so that someone will not get confused as to what really is this gadget.

There are also several viral news also about explosions, fires and accidents caused by these devices. Many thinks that this is because of low quality batteries and chargers which brought most of these incidents.

The many different names of this gadget

As mentioned earlier, these devices are called by many names. Some of these names are hoverboards, hoverboard Segway, two-wheels self balancing electric scooters, Segway without a handle, hands-free Segways and smart balance wheels. These are very confusing to many especially those who haven't seen the gadget yet and doesn't know how it operates.

So what should be the name of this gadget?

The more suitable names are two-wheels self balancing electric scooters, handle free segways and an even cooler name could be smart balance wheels (although not descriptive enough).

What are the parts these gadgets?

These self balancing electric scooters are made up two standing platform connected at the middle. There are two wheels, two batteries and two motors. One battery and motors on each platform that is intended for one feet of the rider and to control each wheel.

The battery is a Lithium-ion battery which is the same as the kind of battery used in many electronic gadgets nowadays like in smartphones. Therefore, there is nothing to worry on the battery since this is not new. What we need to worry would be is the quality of the battery being used.

Fact #1: These gadgets are not really hoverboards.

Fact #2: There are already real floating hoverboards that are invented.

Fact #3: Battery is Lithium-ion which is the same with other electronic gadgets like Smartphones

These gadgets also have gyroscope which controls rotation (of the motor) of the wheel. The inclination of this part allows the driver to control whether to let one move forward or backward.

And there are all connected to a motherboard circuit per platform. The rider can control these gagets through his feet inclination.

Holding a government position in the Philippines requires one to have the eligibility for such positions under the jurisdiction of the Civil Service Commission.

A Filipino who has been an honor graduate (e.g. Cum Laude) or a passer of his profession's licensure examination (e.g. Registered Engineer, Licensed Teacher) are automatically granted the eligibility for government positions. But aside from that, one can also be eligible by passing the Career Service Examination of the Civil Service Commission which is done twice a year.

This is a guide for those who wanted to file their application for the Civil Service Examination.

Things to prepare before going to a Civil Service Commission office: Things To Bring For Civil Service Examination Application.

These are the steps in Exam application:

1. Fill-out the exam application form and glue 2 pictures in the picture boxes provided.
2. Present valid ID and its photocopy, 2 additional pictures and duly filled-up form to ESD action officer.
3. After initial evaluation, proceed to Cashier for payment of exam application fee.
4. Go back to ESD action officer and present the Official Receipt (OR) together with the application form.
5. Receive exam application receipt and OR from the ESD action officer.

Rain Or Shine In The PBA Finals

The Rain Or Shine Elasto Painters sets first Finals schedule in the current PLDT myDSL PBA Philippine Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum through eliminating Petron in a 97-88 friday night victory in the game 5 of their best-of-seven semifinal series. They won the series with four games againts a lone win from Petron Blaze Boosters.

Assistant Coach Caloy Garcia took over the drivers seat for the Painters as ROS' Headcoach Yeng Guiao was serving his one game suspension. Garcia said that them making into the finals in a game without coach Yeng is special and that the players really wanted to win the game.

Beau Belga and Jeff Chan lead the Painters with their almost double-double performance with 18 and 17 points respectively and 9 rebounds apiece. Chan lead the way for the Painters in the third quarter comeback by pumping in 7 of his 17 in that quarter and ROS erased a 12 point Petron lead and even leading going into the last period at 72-69.

Paul Lee pumped in 16 points off the bench and Ryan Arana added 10 points

On the other hand, Arwind Santos leads Petron scorers with his double-double performance of 20 points and 13 rebounds. Marcio Lassiter had 18 while June Mar Fajardo had an equal 16 points and 16 rebounds but their efforts weren't enough to extend the series.

Rain or Shine is in their second consecutive Finals appearance in the Philippine Cup after their Finals series with TalknText last season. The Painters are now waiting for the winners of San Mig Super Coffee Mixers against Bgry. Ginebra Gin Kings in the other semifinal matchup which is currently having 2 wins apiece.

Comedian Tado Among Killed in Bontoc Bus Accident

Arvin Jimenez, known as comedian "Tado", is among those 14 who were killed when a passenger bus fell off a ravine friday morning, February 7, in Bontoc, Mountain Province.

According to Police Provincial Director Oliver Enmodias, the Florida bus with plate no. TXT 872 fell off the 500 meter deep ravine in Sitio Pagpag, Barangay Tabulin in Bontoc around 7:20 am friday morning. Arvin Jimenez, among the 45 passengers of the bus, was among those who died.

On February 6, Tado shared a photo in instagram of a bus headed to Bontoc, captioned: "Long trip, as in trip trip."

The reason why Tado is going to Bontoc was for a project "40 Mountains Project" as seen in his photo posted in instagram below. The title seems to be an irony of this tragic accident.

Fans of the comedian showed their grief with this heartbreaking and sudden death of an idol and an inspiration, a source of joy and laughter for many of the Filipinos.

Rain Or Shines' 4Q Rain Puts Off Petron's Blaze For A 2-0 Lead

Rain or Shine Elasto Painters truly shined once again against Petron taking a 2-0 lead in their best-of-seven semifinal series in the 2014 PLDT MyDSL Philippine Cup at the Mall of Asia Arena. The win placed ROS halfway into their quest for entering the Finals.

Petron was up 11 points at 67-78 coming into the last quarter but ROS outscored Petron in the final quarter to a 103-94 win. It rained points for ROS in the last period as they made 36 points compared to Petron's 16. In the payoff period, Jeff Chan poured in 9 of his 20 while rookie and fomer Letran Knights, Raymond Almazan contributed big with 10 points in that period from his total of 15. Lee also had 15 points in the game along with Belga and Norwood with 11 apiece.

Meanwhile, Fajardo lead the way for the Boosters with 20 points, 9 rebounds and 2 blocks only to lose to the Painters. Playmaker Alex Cabagnot also chipped in 17 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist and 3 steals but it was not enough to hold off ROS.

The Game 3 will on Saturday, February 1, at 3pm in the Mall of Asia Arena.

Pacquiao's Challenge to Mayweather - "Let's Fight For Charity, Fans"

This time, the 8 Division Boxing World Champion, Manny Pacquiao throws a unique but big challenge to the undefeated Boxing Champion, Floyd Mayweather - to have their fight for charity and above all to make their fans happy. Mayweather's latest statements includes Pacquiao wanting the fight against him because of Manny's tax problems. But Pacquiao wanted to prove in this challenge that he doesn't go for the money from the fight but to make the boxing fans all over the world happy. He said it was the boxing fans that wanted this fight all along.

In a phone interview with Inquirer, Pacquiao said, "I’m not desperate to fight him just for the sake of money or material things. I’m not the one seeking this fight; rather it’s the boxing fans all over the world". The Filipino boxer and Congressman even said, "I am ready to submit myself to any kind of stringent drug testing".

To show that he doesn't want to fight Mayweather just because of money, He revealed his unique challenge that, "Above all, I challenge him to include in our fight contract that both of us will not receive anything out of this fight. We will donate all the proceeds from the fight—guaranteed prize, should there be any, gate receipts, pay-per-view and endorsements—to charities around the world."

He added that if that Floyd is not afraid with him, then Mayweather should agree.

Furthermore, he said he has nothing more to prove in boxing and that he has carved his own niche in the annals of boxing. "There’s no reason why I should be desperate to fight him. But since boxing fans worldwide are seeking and demanding a Pacquiao-Mayweather fight, I don’t want to disappoint them.", Manny said.

Regarding his tax problems, Manny answered, "As to my tax problem, my lawyers are fixing it already". "I’m paying my taxes religiously. It is just a matter of reconciling our records with the tax agencies both here and abroad. Should there be any discrepancy, rest assured, I will settle it. I’m a lawmaker and I’m a law-abiding citizen."

Pacquiao said that Mayweather's plan of retiring in 2015 was a move to avoid fighting him in the ring and that the only way Floyd can avoid in facing Pacquiao is to retire from boxing as the public's desire for their fight is becoming stronger.

Finally, Pacquiao's challenge to Mayweather: "Floyd, if you’re a real man, fight me. Let’s do it for the love of boxing and for the fans. Let’s do it not for the sake of money. Let’s make the boxing fans happy."

Sinag Pilipinas, the Philippines' Men National Basketball Team in SEA Games 2013, masterfully defeated the host Myanmar with a huge 75 points margin in a 118-43 victory
on Thursday night at the Zayar Thiri Indoor Stadium A of Nay Pyi Taw, the capital city of Myanmar.

Sinag stays unbeaten after a hard-earned first win (88-75) against the tough Singaporean Team and then crushing Cambodia in their second game in a 107-55 victory. Ronald Pascual posted a game-high 20 points and with Mac Belo, Ferrer, Lanete and Parks also in double figures with 17, 13, 10, 10 points respectively.

Sinag controlled the game from the first quarter with a 34 points against Myanmar's 15. From then on, the Philippine team cruised for a huge win. Sinag shot a field percentage of 68% hitting 47 out of 69 of their shots with 9 triples on a 50% (9/18) shooting beyong the arc. Recently, Philippines has truly suffered from different calamities and national problems which includes the floods that disturbed Luzon, the 7.2 magnitude Earthquake that shook the Central Visayas, the wrath of Super typhoon Yolanda, the terrorism in Mindanao especially in Zamboanga City. Not to mention the political problems like rivalry and the Pork Barrel scam. It has been a difficult time as a nation. But we saw how our fellow Filipinos has moved and helped strengthen each other. And the international community has been responding incredibly and heartily to help us heal these sufferings, giving the Filipino people more hope and inspiration to go on living their life.

At this moment, let us take a little time singing together the song of our motherland. The symbol of our strength and courage as Filipino people. Philippines' First Two Gold Medals in SEA Games 2013

Team Philippines got its first Gold medal on Wushu in the current 27th SEA Games hosted in Myanmar.
It was on Wushu also that Philippines got its first medal which is a silver. Jessie Aligaga and Dembert Arcita bagged two gold medals for Philippines in their Wushu events. Jessie Aligaga triumphed against Dasmantua Simbolon of Indonesia in the 48 kilogram weight class of Wushu Sanshou. Dembert Arcita defeated Phithak Paorkrathok of Thailand in the 52 kilogram weight class of Wushu.

Meanwhile, Francisco Solis got a bronze medal in the Wushu men 56 kg weight category. In the Wushu women, Divine Wally and Evita Elise Zamora both got Silver medals in the 48 kg and 52 kg weight categories.

The 27th Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) is hosted by Myanmar which is from December 11-22, 2013. The SEA Games 2013 will be held at the following venues: Capital Naypyitaw, Yangon, Mandalay and Ngwe Saung Beach. Naypyitaw, the new state capital of Myanmar, will be the main venue of the event which includes the opening and closing ceremonies.

The SEA Games is held once every 2 years between the Southeast Asian countries. This year's participants are Myanmar (host), Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste, Vietnam.

16,319 Pass October 2013 Civil Service Exams

A total of 16,319 takers pass the Civil Service Examinations for Professional and Sub-Professional level conducted last October 13, 2013. The Civil Service Commission released the news that 13,958 passed the Professional level from a total number of 118,896 examinee which resulted in a passing rate of 11.74%. In Sub-Professional level, out of 20,278 who took the exam, 2,361 passed it resulting in a rate of 11.64%.

A total of 139,174 took the examinations out of 160,860 who registered, for a turn-out rate of 86.25%.

The passers will be conferred with the Career Service Professional and Sub Professional eligibilities which is one of the basic requirements for a permanent appointment to technical and clerical positions in the Philippine government.

Philippines Braces For A Strong Typhoon

Philippines is preparing for a strong typhoon with an international name of "Haiyan". It will be given a local name of "Yolanda" once it will enter the PAR (Philippine Area of Responsibility).

PAG-ASA, (Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Association), said “This weather disturbance is expected to enter the Philippine area of responsibility on Thursday morning. It will not affect any part of the country within the next 36 hours."

The eye of the Typhoon ("HAIYAN") over the Pacific Ocean was located at 1,411 km East of Mindanao (7.4°N 139.1°E) with maximum sustained winds of 150 kph and gustiness of up to 185 kph. It is forecast to move West Northwest at 30 kph. This weather disturbance is expected to enter The Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) tomorrow early morning (November 7). It is expected to make landfall over Samar-Leyte Provinces by Friday (Between 11am-1pm, November 8) and to exit The Philippine Area of Responsibility by Sunday Early Morning (November 10).

The next update on this weather disturbance will be incorporated on the regular issuance of public weather forecast at 5:00 pm today. "

The San Mig Coffee Mixers is the champion of the 2013 PBA Governor's Cup sponsored by PLDT Telpad. The Mixers defeated the Petron Blaze Boosters 87-77 in Game 7 of their exciting championship series.

Marc Pingris was recognized as the Best Player of the Game with 19 points and 17 rebounds and 5 blocks. He was also awarded as the 2013 PBA Governor's Cup Finals MVP. Coach Tim Cone tied the record with Dalupan having 15 championships.

Petron Blaze denied Rain or Shine of a Finals seat in the Game 4 of their best-of-five semifinal showdown with the score 110-89.

Petron import Elijah Millsap led their team scorers with 34 points together with his 8 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 steal. Millsap started slow with just 5 points in the first quarters.

However, it was Marcio Lasssiter who blazed with his career high 7 out of 10 three pointers with 27 points in all for the game. Lassiter referred to his performance as, “It was just one of those nights,”, He added, “I just felt it.”

Cabagnot was also a key in their victory against the Elasto Painters with 23 points and made 4 treys. Millsap, Lassiter and Cabagnot combined for 84 points for Petron.

For Rain or Shine, import Arizona Reid led all the game scorers with 41 big points together with 16 rebounds but it was enough to lift his team as no other locals scored double digit except Belga with 10 points. Elasto Painter gunner Chan was scoreless in the game.

With the win, the Petron Blaze Boosters will face sister-team San Mig Coffee Mixers in the PBA Governor's Cup Finals which will start on Friday, October 11 at the Mall of Asia Arena.

San Mig Coffee Goes Back To PBA Governor's Cup Finals

The San Mig Coffee Mixers eliminated Meralco Bolts in Game 4 of their Semifinal series with 3-1 record to go back to the PBA Governor's Cup Finals. San Mig Coffee defeated Meralco with the final score of 79-73 in the game 4 of their best-of-five semifinal series at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Sunday night of Oct 6. San Mig is back again for second straight PBA Governor's Cup Finals.

Blakely led the way for the Mixers with 23 points, 19 rebounds, 5 steals, 2 assists and 1 block and made an all around performance especially in the end game. James Yap also had a great game with 19 points with 8/14 shooting.

Meralco did not start well with no basket in the first 4 minutes of the game. San Mig lead all the way but Meralco came close with 73-75 in the end game. However, Blakely dissed off a pass to Barroca to make it 77-73 with 23.3 seconds left in the game. The final blow was the 2 free throws made by Blakely after a huge offensive rebound.

San Mig Coffee will play the winner of the Petron Blaze Booster - Rain or Shine semifinal series. The finals will start on Friday, October 11 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

The Proclamation No. 658 declares October 15, 2013 as a regular holiday throughout the Philippines for the observance of EIDUL ADHA (FEAST OF SACRIFICE). The proclamation is released on Oct. 3, 2013 in Manila City. Eidul Adha is one of the two greatest feasts of Islam.

The declaration of a regular holiday for Eidul Adha is in accordance with Republic Act No 9849 which provides that Eidul Adha shall be celebrated as a regular holiday.

The date of festival is based on the declaration made by the highest religious body of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the date of October 15 as the observance of Eidul Adha was recommended by the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF).

Megan Young of the Philippines, a 23 year old actress, was crowned as Miss World 2013 on September 28 night at Bali, Indonesia. Megan Young bested other 126 beautiful candidates from all over the world. The crowd favorite to win the Miss World 2013 was also the winner of the Top Model competition of the pre-pageant challenges. In other pre-pageant competition, she also ranked 4th in Multimedia Contest and 5th in Beach Fashion Tilt.

Megan Young is the successor of Wenxia Yu of China. The Miss World 2012 bestowed the crown to Megan Young in the culminating ceremony at the Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center in Bali, Indonesia.
