Status Update, Ya’ll

So I know a lot of ya’ll have been wondering what the heck happened to The Fingerbucket Report!

Well, basically, we went on an unintentional and sudden hiatus following our last aired episode in March due to a variety of reasons:

First and foremost, our producer Jen was battling cancer. The course of treatment was pretty rough, and she found it almost impossible to work. She’s doing much better now, and is eagerly working with our writer/voice-talent to build up a number of new ideas for future episodes of The Report. Yes, there will *definitely* be new episodes. More on that in a moment.

Additionally, our fabulously talented writer/voice-talent Byron found himself doing what he does best: being fabulously talented! A number of projects he’d been working on on the side, suddenly found themselves front and center and he was whisked away all-over the country (from LA to Chicago) to help develop them for full production! Of course, the down-side of being “whisked away” is that he was unable to put any studio time in for Fingerbucket. No studio time = no episodes being recorded. Also, we just found out, that Byron has been cast as Tevya in a Las Vegas summer stock production of “Fiddler on the Roof”! So, his July and August suddenly became fully booked. Finally, and most cool, is that we are currently working with an animator to potentially turn The Fingerbucket Report into an animated web series! That’s right! Animated! This is just in early stages right now, and we’ve got a ways to go yet before it can be fully realized, but we are very excited about this possibility and will continue to keep you updated as it moves forward.

So, what does this mean for the future of The Fingerbucket Report Podcast? Well, as mentioned earlier, there absolutely will be new episodes. When? We’re aiming for Fall 2011. No “official” air date yet. We will make this available as soon as we can settle on something we’re all comfortable with.

So mark your calendars for this Fall 2011 and the triumphant return of The Fingerbucket Report!

Life imitates art – seriously

In Episode 1.10, Phil dealt with far away tech support, with the repeated refrain “uninstall, reinstall, reboot.” As I prepared for the new episode – I save as I go along – my computer suddenly developed an auto-immune disorder. It interpreted any new data as an attack. I could not save locally. I tried to circumvent by saving to web storage. But my security program identified that as a threat and would not allow me to save. The same thing occurred when I tried to print. OMG.

I did the old uninstall, reinstall, reboot of my security software. This did not repair. All the problems I started with were still there. Uninstalling the software allowed me to get on the web and contact the security software tech support. Unfortunately, when I did the reboot, I lost the entire episode 1.11 script. Ah, well. What did the tech tell me to do? “Uninstall, reinstall, reboot.” I felt exactly like Phil Hoganbeck.

Six hours later, a tech support manager admitted this is a known bug caused by an automatic update. He linked me to a previous version containing a patch to prevent the bad update from downloading.

The new episode will be up Thursday.

Unless my computer attacks.

Howdy Ya’ll,

You may have noticed by now that the latest Report has yet to be posted, and I know that this is one quite a few of you were interested in, because it covers our recent Holiday Parade.

Well, Elmo Dinwiddie imbibed a little too much Egg Nog at the parade after party, and let’s just say I’m contemplating taking away his keys to the studio here above Hiram’s Feed and Seed, because he managed to get in and, well, blew chunks of holiday “cheer” all over the equipment.

This has caused a delay in us getting the most recent report uploaded here to the inter-webs, but as soon as I finish getting this mess cleaned up, and the computer running again, we’ll have the latest report up and running for ya’ll in no time.
