Christmas Plant: Poinsettia

I was happy to have my family and my little boy back home after being away for 2 weeks. I decided to go with Poinsettia since it's the holidays and I added few things here and there for a nicer arrangment. These poinsettias thrive really good outdoors and you see many houses have them outside already nowadays. I've seen many other colors but the red is always a favorite!

I purchased those already in bud. It's a great addition to my container garden since the weather is very cool and perfect for thses lilies. The smell is very strong. I've tried growing those from bulb but I only get few buds.

Double Bougainvillea Standard.

It's been a productive weekend at the garden! I've pruned many plants and trees, I re arranged all of the pots, I tried to get rid of the mealy bugs (white fluffy pests), there are many of them around my hibiscus and lantana plants. I used tissue paper to whipe them off the leaves and stems, I know they are coming back but this week I'll have the pest control guy to come and spray these little pests, also I've noticed my newly potted Marigold leaves are eaten.

This bougainvillea which I showed previuosly in many posts, bloomed again while having the older blooms on!! I'm amazed how these are in bloom for months now.

My miniture rose 2nd bloom cycle with many buds yet to open! thanks to the Rose food!

One of my few cactus around the garden. Small ones only!

The gladious are doing good!!

On the left, 2 Jasmine. I trained them against my living room window. I potted these last summer, it's amazing how they are growing fast. I put them on top of a container with new potting mix so the roots will have more room to grow. I need hight so they reach the window and they need more soil to continue to grow!

That's my torch glow bougainvillea, first of them all! the pot is so small that the roots tend to break the cement underneath. So I put them on top of another pot with new soil. The roots are out of the pot already so I'm afraid I'll disturb them, as they are so sensitive.

Summer is over but these Portulacas (Summer Jewels) are still in bloom.

When I got this miniture rose, the color was yellow. Now it has a different color. I really like it! very spicy!!

This rose is so beautiful in real life. The blooms are so huge but the plant size is not that big (it will not grow any bigger according to the garden center).

Orange Orchids

At the garden center. I'm never tempted now to try growing orchids. Some say it's easy (just leave the orchid alone). I tried many times at different locations, different temperatures, different types... doesn't seem to rebloom again. I do enjoy orchids in their pots more than the cut flowers and it's enough for me to see new colors and varieties at the garden centers!

Summer/Winter bulbs

If you came from the north side of this world.. you wouldn't expect to see summer bulbs in sale right now. Well, here in a warm/humid/dry climate you expect to see these this time of the year because summer bulbs i call them (winter bulbs) and our winter is more spring like weather is the perfect time to plant these and enjoy them till April.

Iast year i was successful to grow Dhalia with blooms, but also i failed to have two other varieties to bloom. So i hope this year i will have blooms.

I bought this variengated bougainvillea today. It came with the pot. We dont have many orange/yellow colors so i could'nt resist!

I'm still looking for the california orange king but no luck. I also got the doubled variety (will post pictures soon).
