In sales, there’s an old formula/adage called “ABC” it means, “Always Be Closing.” I’ve adapted it to Social Media (which is what you’re essentially engaging in). I’ve changed it to “Always Be Connecting.”

So think in those terms when you write. Think: how can I elicit a reaction or response that leads to a connection. Passionate topics that hit close to people’s feelings (such as your topic here) will always be a good way to do that. I’m not saying you should be sensationalistic in your journalism, but definitely write on things that you are passionate about. Chances are, that whatever is on your mind and in your heart is in your audiences too.

Don’t be afraid to be polarizing. If you have a position take it. Encourage feedback, and even argument. Just don’t watch the unsubscribes. many make this mistake and then change their style to try and please the broader audience. Don’t do it. Staying on your hill and daring to be knocked off of it promotes loyalty and weeds out those that were probably never really “with you” anyway.

The Great Joe Vitale and Carl Davison

As many of you know, I am a huge fan of Dr. Joe Vitale. I first learned about Joe because he was in the massive underground hit movie “The Secret” that broke wide open the now infamous Law of Attraction (also abbreviated: LOA).

For those that do not know anything about the LOA, I highly recommend watching The Secret and getting Joe’s book: “The Attractor Factor”; or any of his books (you can find them HERE). Interestingly, that book is almost as famous as the movie for really taking what the movie did and expanding on it. The Secret is a great broad stroke/big picture introduction to the LOA. Where the movie gives you the big picture and the main philosophy, Joe’s books and products take you to the next level and focus in on the nuts and bolts and the action portion.

Really, all you need do to learn and apply the LOA is to watch that movie and follow Joe. he really has the most comprehensive collection of products: CD’s, DVD’s Books, Courses and he’s also been in several other movies since The Secret. Joe is also a famous copywriter as well as marketing and business guru. The Attractor Factor actually started out as an ebook called “Spiritual Marketing” and has since grown to encompass much more than just the spiritual aspect of marketing and combining marketing with the LOA. So it is appealing to a broader audience now. But that old ebook is pretty much a cult classic among Internet Marketers.

Joe has either directly or indirectly created millionaires (probably numbering in the hundreds of millionaires, actually) by now because of his works. And yes, I’m trying to become one of them. Joe lives in beautiful Texas Hill Country village of Wimberly, Texas. I could say a lot about Wimberly, but to see some of it’s natural wonders- click HERE.

So what’s all of this about a bench press?

Joe is a man of many exquisite tastes and like many of us is into cool cars, good cigars, great guitars as well as one of my interests: classic bodybuilding and oldtime strongman stuff. The 50’s, 60’s and 70’s were the golden era of bodybuilding. Back then, the emphasis was on symmetry, posing, statuesque looks and health and fitenss through bodybuilding and not just the pure overgrown mass (often obtained by steriod and growth hormone abuse, especially within the Olympic class competitors) like today. Names like Arnold Schwarzenegger, Dave Draper, Franco Columbu, Frank Zane, Sergio Oliva, Serge Nubret, Reg Park, Larry Scott (the world’s first Mr. Olympia), Danny Padilla, Ed Corney, Mike Katz, Bill Pearl and other bodybuilders became legendary during this era.

Well, Joe has built himself his own personal gym on his Texas Estate out in Wimberly and has quite the collection of equipment there. He even has a Frank Zane Leg Blaster that he got from Frank himself when he went out to Frank’s place for a while. Pretty cool that he got to work out with the legend himself! Another legend (who has now passed) was Steve Reeves. Steve was one of the very first to make the crossover to the silver screen from bodybuilding. Joe is a big fan of his and not only does he own Steve’s old Jaguar:

…he recently bought Steve’s Personal Universal Gym…the same one that Joe told me the legend used for something like 30 years! The addition of this massive piece of equipment made Joe have to liquidate much of his current setup due space limitations, which I saw him Twitter about. His Twitter was basically offering to give away his P500 Home Gym:

Well, I waited a while and finally decided that if it was worth that much, maybe I could find somewhere for it. By the time I got around to Twittering him, it was already gone. But he said he had a piece left that he also wanted to get rid of.

Well, of course I was interested…and since I live just down the road in San Antonio, it was nothing but a 30-40 minute drive out to Wimberly. Joe ultimately decided to keep his Zane Blaster, and I ended up with a very nice Powertec Leverage Bench Press with an adjustable bench (you can make it an incline as well as flat bench). I am very grateful to Joe, not only as a chosen lifetime mentor, but he’s quite simply just an all-around genuinely nice fellow who knows the power of giving.

So what’s the lesson about the Law of Attraction in this?

Lesson #1 is: Give

If you never give, you’ll not get. As Joe says, “money loves to circulate.” I’ll go one better and say “things like to circulate.” Things, just like money are units of energy transfer. They have value (energy) attached to them. So basically, money only has the value we give it; just as things do. Some people pack-rat things their whole lives and never get rid of or give away any of their stuff, even when they know they are never going to use it. Why is this?

The answer is LACK MENTALITY. Which leads to a HORDE MENTALITY.

My grandmother would do this. She just couldn’t let go of stuff because she feared she might need them again if conditions became worse (such as a loss of a job). When she died a couple of years ago, she had so much junk it took my mom and my aunt weeks to clean her house out. You literally could not walk in there. She had little paths to get from living room to bathroom and so on. All her life she worried about having a job and being able to find steady work. All she ever knew was to work and she worked well past the normal retirement age of 65. She was a waitress for most of her life. Having been born in Hemphill and having grown up in East Texas (mostly Lufkin area) she never knew anything but hard work all her life. As far as I know, she never struck out to try and become an entrepreneur or anything. It’s a shame, because she hand-made really awesome quilts that could have brought her a nice income. I loved my grandmother, and her life has been a lesson to me. She taught me some valuable things, obviously to have a good work ethic. But hers went so far as to be a form of self-slavery because she always put up with waaaay too much BS at her jobs and allowed herself to be disrespected and wronged out of fear of job loss. I myself have felt those same fears and have gone through that very thing. It’s not fun. Nobody should have to put up with that. And that is why I’m working towards making a better life for myself and my family. Please, if you are reading this and you are feeling what I am saying…realize that your situation can change. You can succeed at making a new life.

Lesson #2: ASK

If you don’t ever ask, you can’t ever receive. Asking for things is something some people never do. Not asking usually comes from a feeling of undeserving. If you thought you could, you would. Why don’t more people follow that adage: “It never hurts to ask”? But actually, it does hurt some people. Usually, those same people who are afraid to ask are also afraid to receive. They simply don’t have the self-image where they see things coming to them freely. This same line of mental programming causes them to shy away from receiving (even after they have given something) and they often say things like: “Oh I couldn’t take that” or try to make you keep your money or whatever it is you are giving them. Notice the speech pattern, the language they use…especially the ones who say “I could NEVER take that…” Remember that little circulation thing? Doing that stops the flow. You are training the universal forces on how you want to be treated. When I gave Joe Vitale a 50 year old book on writing business letters, a card and a box of La Gloria Cubana Serie R Belicoso cigars, he thanked me and took them without any of that “I couldn’t possibly take those” nonsense. When people want to give, don’t deny them that pleasure. They are actually living according to The Law of Attraction and by your cooperation and non-resistance, you will be too.

Be open to giving, to asking and to trusting that by doing so, you are freeing up the flow of energy in your life as well as others. Allow others to be in the flow. Be in the flow yourself. Stop resisting! The Universe wants to bless you. It is you who prevents it. Thus, by resisting, you perpetuate. This is why I love the concept and philosophy behind the Martial Art called Aikido:

Whether or not the possibility that those principles and ideas are being incorrectly conveyed by the mis-use of our Military by our political leaders is (or isn’t) true is not the point of Memorial Day. Neither is the fact that some in our Military have not lived or do not live with honor and integrity is also not the point. The point is that the vast majority of those who take the oath of service are generally speaking good humans and Americans (we all have our faults) and those that have believe and lived by the oath (especially those who were KIA or POW) should be respected, supported, thanked and remembered.

Anyways, I was sent this and I think it is something very worthy of passing on to you as we begin the new week.

Question: What is the definition of “inspired”?

Answer: To be “in spirit” or “of spirit”

It is my hope that you will read and be ‘inspired’ to follow the directions within the excerpt below which is taken from Author max Lucado’s book entitled: “On The Anvil”.

“Today I Will Make A Difference”

Today I will make a difference. I will begin by controlling my thoughts. A person is the product of their thoughts. I want to be happy and hopeful. In our free book on the nature of your own power we already indicated how you literally create your own reality based on the belief systems ingrained in your consciousness. A great deal of the information that enters your eyes is ‘edited’ by your brain based on these conditioned belief systems to create in image that matches your ingrained worldview.

Consider this, for example. Your eyes have a blind spot where the optic nerve connects to the eye in the middle of the retina. You can’t see anything with that part of your eye. Still, your brain manages to weave a picture together from the information it receives and fills the gap by making assumptions based on what it expects from its conditioned belief systems.

Another example is the condition that is commonly referred to as the ‘phantom limb syndrome’. People dealing with phantom limb syndrome experience the sensations of having a limb that was actually amputated or lost to still be attached to the body and still actually feeling the limb. The five senses still seem to react to the brain’s conditioned sense of reality.

Even more astonishing examples can be seen in the field of hypnosis. Everyone knows about the experiences in stage shows, in which people are made to believe they are seeing the audience naked, or they run around like a chicken and things like that.

Another common example is that the hypnotist makes the subjects believe they are eating onions while thinking they’re eating apples. As an observer you can clearly see that the person is eating an onion, usually expressing clear signs of disgust at the mere thought of it. However, to the person that is hypnotized, the onion actually tastes like an apple.

What happens is that the hypnotist implants a new belief that changes the experience of the person being hypnotized. A new ‘hypnotic reality’ is created based on a new belief system, namely that an onion tastes like an apple. To the person that is being hypnotized, this reality is just as ‘real’ as the one in his or her ‘awakened state’.

In his book The Holographic Universe, the late Michael Talbot describes another experience with hypnosis. He recalls a gathering with a group of friends, and for entertainment purposes his father hired a professional hypnotist. One of the friends was called Tom, and Tom was the lucky guy to get hypnotized.

The hypnotist made Tom believe that there was a giraffe in the room, and the story with the onion tasting like an apple was used as well (except for the onion being a raw potato this time). But then came an even more interesting part.

During his trance state, the hypnotist told Tom that when he would awake, he would not be able to see his daughter Laura. Next, he brought Tom back to ‘waking’ consciousness and asked Laura to stand in front of her father. When he asked Tom if he could see his daughter, he replied that he couldn’t. Laura laughed about it, and even that didn’t make Tom realize his daughter was right in front of him.

After that, the hypnotist stood behind Laura and hid something for Tom by holding it against her back. So to see what he was holding, Tom would have to be able to look through his daughter. When the hypnotist asked Tom what he was holding in his hand, Tom leaned forward to take a good look and answered: “A watch”.

Tom was right. After that, the hypnotist asked Tom if he could read the inscription on the watch. Tom had to take a good look, but he actually managed to read the inscription, while his daughter was standing between him and the watch.

So what happened? Tom had in fact been programmed to believe he couldn’t see his daughter, so he didn’t. Such is the power of your mind.

Another example is proved by Charles T. Tart, who was a professor of Psychology at the University of California (Davis Campus). In his book ‘Altered States of Consciousness’ he describes how he had two skilled hypnotists called Anne and Bill hypnotize each other.

What he was trying to do was to synchronize their two hypnotic realities. And that’s what they managed to do. The two found themselves experiencing the same place, which was a beautiful beach. They swam together in the ocean and studied the crystalline rocks. They even reported talking to each other, even though they were not speaking ‘physically’ in the ‘reality’ from where Tart was observing them.

From their experience the ‘hypnotic reality’ was every bit as ‘real’ as their ‘awakened state’. They had ‘regular’ five-sense-like sensations. Still, they recalled that during their hypnotic experience they often forgot to manifest their bodies and were floating around as just heads and faces. At one point, Bill asked Anne to take his hand, but she first had to ‘think her hand into existence’ before she was able to do this.

These examples of hypnosis give some indications of how ‘reality’ is created ‘in here’, and not ‘out there’, as most of us are conditioned to believe. They show how your whole life experience changes once you change your most basic assumptions about reality.

This is not to say that you should go about getting hypnotized into another reality right away (although in some cases hypnosis can be useful for de-programming purposes). The key is to realize that you may be ‘hypnotized’ right now into a programmed sense of reality that may or may not fit your bill.

The solution then is not to hypnotize yourself into another limited sense of reality. That would be akin to accepting that you have the power to create anything you want and the infinite possibility that comes with it, but still choosing limitation. Besides, in that regard many people are often inclined to choose a reality that they only think they want, because that fits the artificially imposed measures of ‘success’ (see our previous post on this).

But that would never bring you the sense of freedom and happiness that you really seek. The keys to that are ‘self-realization’ and ‘self-fulfillment’. When you realize what you really want, and start pursuing that, you will find that the path to get there will be almost laid-out for you.

All you need to do is to act on the inspirations that you get. These actions will get you there. It’s a guidance by a deeper, subconscious level of yourself, which is beyond the limited perspective of your conscious mind (more about this in a future article).

The problem is that most people have a severely limited perspective of who they are and what they are capable of. And another problem is, that the way ‘society’ is set up, does not stimulate those levels of yourself that can get the game of what we tend to call ‘attraction’ in true motion.

We are constantly being programmed into accepting certain realities, because that’s what makes those realities manifest. In the movie ‘The Matrix’ (the first one), the woman known as the ‘Oracle’ tells the main character called Neo not to worry about the vase. “What vase?”, he asks. And as he asks this question, a vase falls on the floor and shatters into pieces next to him. He apologizes for breaking it, but the Oracle replies:

“What’s really going to cook your noodle is would it have happened if I hadn’t said anything?”

Think about that for a second…

Anyway, we’ll give some more examples of how this is done in future articles. But for now, try to understand that all our lives, our belief systems are conditioned with the limited views that prevail our societies. The true knowledge about who we really are and what we’re capable of were suppressed or even lost, or have at least been given far from sufficient attention. But you can change your belief systems, and thus your reality. And the knowledge is at your fingertips!

But once again, that doesn’t mean you should program yourself into a new reality of ‘limitation’. The real solution is to awaken from your hypnotized state and realize that you control your reality, and that you co-create our collective reality on this plane of existence with each and everybody else. The real solution is to realize who you are, and act according to that ‘instinct’. Once you accept who you are, the walls of limitation will start to crumble immediately.

You don’t have to ‘seek enlightenment’ or anything like that. It’s already knocking on your door. You just need to open it up and let it in.

However, what most of us do is like sticking our heads in the ground with our bums up the air.

“No, no, I can’t do that… What will the neighbours think?”

“Oh no, I can’t do that, I didn’t get good marks in school.”

Acknowledge who you are and what you really want, and the walls of limitation tumble down almost automatically. Then you choose what you experience, from a de-programmed, de-hypnotized state.

Freedom at last!
