“Having spoken to a number of people we have drawn that process to a close and myself and the board are unanimous that Terry is the right man to lead the club for the remainder of the season,”

“This is a decisive step, which creates certainty, and the players are fully behind it,”

Man City vs Porto Preview: Manchester City have the advantage of away goals in the first leg and are willing to cruise through the last 32-round at Etihad Stadium.

However, is the light fixture as much of a foregone bottom line as some have claimed?
Porto are the ruling winners in the rivalry having triumphed in Dublin under Andre Villas-Boas last season against Sporting Braga and, as our infographic indicates, have a far excellent record with regards to awards won throughout their record.

In a less aggressive Colonial group, they have gathered a award selection that Town could only fantasy of, yet their record in Western countries is also extremely respectable.

They have won the Western Cup twice, the second time under Jose Mourinho in 2004, and Europe’s additional cup rivalry twice as well.
City, though, feature far higher money thanks to the golf club’s modification under Sheikh Mansour and that may well tell on the message.

Man City Vs Porto should be a thrilling contest and City are strong Favourite for getting through while Portuguese side will give them a hard time.

John Terry is looked to be sidelined for two months and will miss the Chelsea’s crucial champions league tie in Naples.

Chelsea skipper is in Naples with his squad for the Champions league clash but the Englishman is ruled out of the clash. Terry has already missed the four crucial games for the Blues and still looked to miss another two months.

Former England skipper will now also miss the international friendly against Netherlands. Chelsea will now lack the leadership of influential skipper and Andre Villas-Boas have to choose partnership of Gary Cahill and David Luiz.

Chelsea boss last night talked about John Terry and said: “He’s a player of great importance. I will leave it as late as possible and make a decision on him after the training of the team in Naples,”

“The team is more important than any individual, but what we are trying to do with John is to respect his importance for the team. We will try to give him a late fitness test to give him every chance,”

“There are enough characters to lead on the emotional sense. Of course JT is a great leader, gives you an extra emotional push, but at the moment, we’ve had to do without him,”

“I think there is still enough emotion without him. If he misses out on Tuesday then we will miss a top, top player and a player who gives us great defensive stability. It would be a massive loss for us, that’s for sure.”

Barcelona Vs Valencia review: Lionel Messi scored four goals on his 200th Barcelona appearance as the Catalan giants crushed Valencia.

Argentinian star scored twice in each half as defending champions tried to keep the title hopes alive. Xavi scored the fifth goal in the last minute of the game. Piatti did provide the perfect start for the away side but his effort proved the only consolation goal. Barcelona are still 10 points behind the league leaders and it will be very hard to find the way up for Barca. Lionel Messi is closing in on top goal scoring spot of La Liga as he already scored 43 goals in all competitions.

Liverpool had the control of the game throughout the 90 minutes. Agger’s own goal gives the Toons good start despite the shaky start but former Newcastle player Craig Bellamy scored the equalizer. Bellamy again scored in the 67th minute and gave Liverpool lead. Liverpool’s third goal gives the KOP fans a huge New Year gift as returning skipper Steven Gerrard scored.
