Timepiece that Counts Distance and Laps for Swimmers

The famous developer of swimwear and swim-related accessories Speedo has launched its own timepiece watch called the Speedo Aquacoatch. The watch utilizes a technology developed by Swimovate, a company based in the United Kingdom and founded in 2007 by thriathletes, to estimate the distance, speed, number of strokes and even calories that the swimmer has burned.

The device is 100 meters (328 feet) water-resistant and works in any swimming pools over 15 meters (49 feet) long. It can collect data of up to 50 swim sessions, which allows swimmers to compare their time and strive to beat their own records.

With the help of an accelerometer mixed with custom algorithms, the watch can count individual strokes. Because it can detect the pauses made between strokes (when the swimmer changes direction) the timepiece is also able to count the number of laps.

It is worth mentioning that the Speedo Aquacoach was built as a result of a four-year agreement with Swimovate that is responsible for the development of the technology.

• You open up Google Images and demand, “John, think of something.”

• Your friend John says “I think of a yellow house.”

• You type “What is it that John thinks of?” into Google Images, hit return, and boom – there are yellow houses in the results!

How It Really Works

Of course, neither Google nor you can predict the future or read your friend’s mind (I assume!). So what’s really happening? Just how can Google display yellow houses?

Because you told it to! The trick is incredibly simple: start by going to the fake Google homepage (www.55fun.com/52). Now though it appears as if you are typing “What is it ...,” you actually type a slash “/” first. This starts hiding what you really type and replaces it with “What is it ...”. So now, you type yellow house or whatever it is your friend mentioned.

Finally, hit the slash key again and you can continue to type normally to enter the name of your friend or something similar. Before you perform this trick in front of friends, make sure you practice it a little. If you do, your friends will not suspect a thing.

Note that if your friends are very tech-savvy or easy to get suspicious, you should replace the browser address – which reveals it’s not the real Google – with the actual Google Images URL (without hitting return in the address bar, of course, because you don’t want to leave the trick

Here’s what to do. Pick any English text you like. Now paste it into the Google translator. Choose to translate it from English to French. Now copy the French translation into the box, and translate it back to English. Repeat for another round, and check what you’ve got.

Acer Launches Liquid E Plus Smartphone In India

Acer has announced the availability of its new Liquid E Plus smartphone in the Indian market. The successor to the limited edition Liquid E Ferrari, the smartphone houses almost similar hardware configuration but comes at a much lower price point. This is why the new Liquid E plus device is being projected as an entry-level device for the Indian market.

According to a report by The Mobile Indian, "Acer Liquid E Plus is available for Rs 12,250 across several cities in India."

It comes pre-installed with the Android 2.2 Froyo (Frozen Yoghurt). There is no information about this device getting the Gingerbread upgrade.

It will be featuring the same configuration as its predecessor. It includes an under clocked Qualcomm snapdragon processor running at 786 MHz along with a dedicated Adreno 200 graphics processor.

Vodafone To Launch Facebook Phone In India This Month

Vodafone has plans to launch its Facebook phone in India this August. The device is named 555 Blue. Vodafone has already launched the phone in the UK.

According to a report by The Mobile Indian, a spokesperson of Vodafone confirmed that the telco is all set to launch 555 Blue in India. He did not divulge any details about the launch date and price of the phone.

It will have a locked SIM. It will be a prepaid phone, which is obviously targeted at prepaid users. 555 Blue promises to offer a customised Facebook experience to people who love social networking and messaging.

The phone is not 3G enabled and will instead use Edge network. It is worth mentioning here that Edge enjoys far greater coverage than 3G does. The new offering from Vodafone will sport a 6.1-cm (2.4-inch) display and a Qwerty keyboard, which has been designed to make it easy to chat, e-mail and send texts using the device.

555 Blue has a 2-megapixel camera with instant upload capability, a microSD slot, and a music player with FM radio.

A dedicated Facebook 'F' button is yet another striking feature of the phone. This button is customisable in terms of assigning tasks. Users can instantly post a status update with photos or with links from the browser. Automatic Facebook updates every 20 minutes is also a special feature of 555 Blue, although this can be customised.

Desai says, “In the game, players earn goodwill and karma points. It allows players to donate points earned by them to charities. Technologically, we have put in several other unique features as well. Unlike any other game, there is a day-night cycle. We aim at raising the bar when it comes to social games.”

Aaron Mathew, one of the main developers of the game, said that users can also send their feedback and suggestions about the game, but this is a gradual process.

Mathew says, “In this way, we can discover how users find our game and we can develop our game and make it smoother.”

How to move your mouse cursor/pointer without a mouse.

You can control your mouse pointer with help of keyboard keys in all windows versions. When your mouse stops working, you can enable this keyboard feature to complete your important work. This keyboard mouse can performs all tasks same like a normal mouse.

Follow the given steps to activate the keyboard mouse:

1. To edit this feature, first you should log onto your computer with administrative rights.

2. To Activate this feature, press Alt+Shift+NumLock keys at once and you will receive a small MouseKey box.

To keep MouseKeys on, click on Ok button or click on cancel button to cancel MouseKeys box.

3. Click on Settings button, if you want to adjust the mouse cursor detail settings.

Here a new dialog box will appear with the title Settings for MouseKeys, now you can manage all mouse settings for example mouse cursor speed, acceleration and some other features.

Now using Numeric keypad, you can move your mouse pointer.

The controls are:

* 1,2,3,4,6,7,8 and 9 keys are used to move the mouse cursor into different directions.

* Key 5 is used as mouse click button.

* Insert key used to hold down mouse button.

* + Sign used to double click on any object.

* Delete button used to release the mouse.

Click NumLock button to disable this keyboard mouse feature.
