After a 10 year break, the band returned to touring in late 2010. “After 30 years I would never thought I would be playing in Big Country again,” says guitarist Bruce Watson, “A band Stuart and I started last millenium in the hope of carrying on his dreams from his days in the Skids. We hope to do him proud.” Drummer Mark Brzezicki adds, “As Big Country continue to evolve, the journey continues. I am looking forward to expanding the journey into new territories and continuing our unfinished business across the world.”

Following the departure of Tony Butler in 2012, Big Country now features former Simple Minds bassist Derek Forbes alongside founder members Bruce Watson (guitar) and Mark Brzezicki (drums), singer Mike Peters (The Alarm) and guitarist Jamie Watson.

Formed in Dunfermline in 1981, Big Country went on to become one of the most celebrated British rock bands. Selling more than 10 million albums worldwide the band toured with such luminaries as The Rolling Stones, David Bowie and Queen. The band stopped touring in 2000 and then came the death of Stuart Adamson in 2001. Apart from a 25th anniversary celebration in 2007 the band remained dormant until the end of 2010 when they toured again with Mike Peters of The Alarm. In 2013, 30 years after the release of Big Country’s debut album The Crossing – an album described as a “classic” by MOJO – the band’s new tour will feature their greatest hits and tracks from their forthcoming new album.

Lovebox and Red Bull Music Academy are upping the ante with an event headlined by Chic featuring Nile Rodgers who are widely credited with pioneering the R&B and disco scene in the 70’s and responsible for some immortal classics from the era, including “Le Freak”, “Dance Dance Dance”, “I Want Your Love” and “Good Times” with Rodgers also producing albums for artists such as Madonna, David Bowie, Sister Sledge and Diana Ross.

Still selling out arenas worldwide, front man Nile Rodgers returns to London hot on the heels of his Classic Album Sundays x Red Bull Music Academy appearance in New York. The party doesn’t stop there however, with Rodgers curating a roll call of top drawer DJ talent to make sure the celebrations continue until the early hours.  There will be sets from DJ Pierre, Derrick Carter, Seth Troxler (Disco Set), Derrick May, Horsemeat Disco, and RBMA Alumni Rebel Rebel.

DJ Pierre, one of the originators of the Acid House movement, will usher forth the sounds of underground Chicago during the mid 1980’s Acid House explosion, while Derrick Carter will no doubt deliver a rare disco set before Prince of the new school and fourth wave Detroit star Seth Troxler (Disco Set) completes the journey from vintage vogue to contemporary cool.  Also perk your ears up for support act Nicky Siano, past resident at the legendary Studio 54 and renowned pioneer of the New York disco scene.

There’s no better way to warm up for Lovebox Festival, set to be one of the hottest events of the summer.

The Breeders are playing live together for the first time in nearly 20 years and will be coming to the UK for three special shows this June.

Kim Deal, Kelley Deal, Josephine Wiggs, and Jim Macpherson played their first show together on Friday June 19, 1992, in a snooker hall behind Warrington Rugby Club in the north of England, near Manchester. Two days later they supported Nirvana in Dublin and Belfast, and then played at Glastonbury. Back in the US, after playing 27 sold-out shows that fall, they made their way to San Francisco to record Last Splash.

Released August 30, 1993, reviewers described Last Splash as ”effervescent,” “blistering,” “incoherent.” At its center is the infectiously appealing, instantly recognizable “Cannonball.” Propelled in part by the video directed by Kim Gordon and Spike Jonze, the song was voted Single of the Year by the NME. After more than two years of touring, they played their last show on September 5th, 1994, at Lollapalooza in Los Angeles.

In 2013 they will play together again for the first time and to celebrate this April 4AD will release LSXX, a Deluxe Anniversary Edition of Last Splash. June will also see The Breeders performing at ALL TOMORROW’s PARTIES.

BEERS, CHEERS & TEARS AS BOWLING FOR SOUP WAVE GOODBYE

Bitter sweet will sum up the announcement that this autumn’s BOWLING FOR SOUP shows will be their ‘Goodbye’ to the country that, for well over a decade, has been their adopted home. The BOWLING FOR SOUP BIDS FAREWELL TOUR will be their final shows on UK soil, but don’t for a second think you’re getting rid of them that easily!

BFS frontman Jaret Reddick is quick to assure fans that this is not the end. “We’re all excited about the future and what’s next. Honestly, it opens up the whole world for us! If you’re a fan of Bowling For Soup, this really is better news than it seems. You may not be seeing us in person as much, but you’re definitely gonna have more new songs.”

With almost twenty years as a band, the past fifteen constantly on tour, life on the road has begun to hit hard on the Texan Power Pop maestros, who will be celebrating their 20th Anniversary next summer.

“The UK has given this band everything, so I’m being honest about our reasons. We still love being Bowling For Soup but touring really does begin to take its toll on both you and your family after a while.” reveals Reddick. “We want to go out on top! We have seen too many bands on our level run it all into the ground. I can’t do that to BFS, to my friends, or to the fans.” he continues truthfully.

Those fans have been the life blood to the band, whose infectious radio friendly hits ‘Girl All The Bad Guys Want’, ‘1985’ and ‘High School Never Ends’ have become the benchmark for rock music video channels. Even in a climate when many bands struggled in an unpredictable music industry, Bowling For Soup effortlessly toured and recorded with success thanks to a loyal fanbase who continue to support them year after year – this tour is all about them.

“We want this final tour to be a celebration of what we’ve achieved in the UK for the past thirteen years. There’s no way I would have believed we’d have been able to do this for so long. This band, and everything we’ve accomplished, is so important to us, that we never wanna look back on it and think we took it too far.”, Jaret admits.

With a brand new, fan funded album set for release in September; this will be just the start of a whole host of Bowling For Soup productivity. Next year the band aim to release a re-recorded Greatest Hits along with an album of covers to celebrate their landmark 20th Anniversary in June 2014.

Unlike previous BFS tours there will only be one opening band, to be announced in late April, so fans can expect the biggest Bowling For Soup live set EVER! Alongside the bands hit filled catalogue they promise a whole host of songs not heard for sometime. If there was ever a Rock Show not to miss, this is the one!

Reddick finds it easy to sum up what the most important thing he’s taken from a career of performing in the UK “It’s the easiest answer and the most truthful thing. Following their incredible two night residency at The Roundhouse in December, the legendary ‘Madchester’ band the Happy Mondays return to London for a special performance at The Forum.

In 2012 The Happy Mondays announced a return to the live stage, reuniting the full original line up for the first time in over 19 years. Following two sold out nights at the Brixton Academy, they followed these shows up with a visit to the Roundhouse courtesy of CME welcoming the acid house pioneers 808 State along for the ride.

In 1985 the Happy Mondays fused a sound that owed as much to northern soul and funk as it did rock and psychedelia. It was however the influence of the house music records beaming in from Chicago that had the most profound effect on the band. In 1990 they released the ‘Pills ‘n’ Thrills and Bellyaches’ album which collided with the acid house and rave movement that had swept the UK, firmly putting The Happy Mondays on the map as one of the most inspiring bands to come out of England in the early 1990s. The rest as they say, is history.

With the classic cuts ‘Step On’, ‘Kinky Afro’, ‘Hallelujah’ and of course the track mirrored by a film of the same name ‘24 Hour Party People’ cementing the bands reputation as one of the most advantageous and colorful of the last 20 years, June 29th will no doubt be one show not to be missed!

Without a ‘genre’ audience, and never having had a Top 20 hit single in any country, New Model Army still have album sales in the millions, have attracted some of the biggest producers on the planet (Glyn Johns, Tom Dowd, Andy Wallace, Bob Clearmountain) and have built up an almost religious devotion amongst fans.

Since marking their 30th anniversary at the end of 2010 with multiple retrospective releases and an ambitious series of two-night stands in cities across four continents, the band have endured a series of misfortunes including the loss of almost all their equipment and archives in a studio fire at the end of 2011. But this autumn they begin a full Worldwide tour with shows across Europe to promote an ambitious new studio album (their twelfth), quite different from its predecessors.

Self-produced but mixed by another A-lister, Joe Barresi (best known for extensive work with Tool, Queens Of The Stoneage, Bad Religion and Soundgarden), the new album is filled with multi-layered drums and atmospheric musical textures while sacrificing none of the band’s famous passion and song-writing skills. A full-length film documentary on the history of the band is being finished to co-incide with its release.

Originally formed as a three piece, the current five piece features Michael Dean on drums, Dean White on keyboards, Marshall Gill on guitar and their latest addition, Ceri Monger on bass (although all members are multi-instrumentalists). This is a remarkable band – as hungry and focused as ever, with a continually regenerating audience and insatiable creative ambition.

GREATEST HITS LIVE – CHRISTMAS 2013

Shed Seven have announced their first full UK tour in two years. The acclaimed five piece and live favourites will be performing their greatest hits and a selection of fan favourites this December including the ever popular hit singles ‘Going For Gold’, ‘Disco Down” and ‘Chasing Rainbows’.

Shed Seven have achieved great success since forming in 1990. They’ve released four albums, had 14 Top 40 singles and to celebrate the 15th anniversary of landmark album ‘A Maximum High’ in 2011 the band released a collector’s edition EP which featured brand new versions of some of the hit tracks from the album.

Since getting back together in 2007 for a massive 20 date tour, Shed Seven have continued to sell out shows across the UK.  This new December tour follows last year’s appearances at T in the Park and V festival plus a selection of intimate live dates. Frontman Rick Witter said:

 “The Sheds are pleased to announce that we will be touring again this year in the run up to the Christmas holidays.
