Living in Las Vegas for about four years, I am used to dealing with the overbearing summer heat of Sin City. Temperatures at night can still be in the 100s. Now that's hot!!

What type of night fragrance you should wear during hot summer nights? You should be daring. Wear a beautiful spicy or floral fragrance if you want to get notice. You should remember, however, that fragrances can last longer in the summer. So, you will need to wear your colognes or perfumes lightly. I'm back!! I know I suppose to go away indefinitely, but the call to write and my love for fragrances would not let me go away forever. Plus, I miss all of you, the community of fragrance enthusiasts. However, I am coming back with a new vision of the scented world. My articles will be more holistic. I will not just give you my opinions about my favorite perfumes and colognes, but I will write about how they influence the world around them and how their outside environments affect their creations. So, my articles will touch on art, fashion, food, interior design, etc. Of course, the focus of all of these articles will be scents. In addition, my new blog design represents my new vision. It is fluid and upscale with a touch of masculinity just like a good designer cologne. Well, my friends, enjoy my new blog and let us discuss scents. Ciao.

I just came out of Bloomies dear readers and I decided to smell two colognes from Annick Goutal. You might ask which ones, but the smell of these fragrances offended me so much that if I remember their names I will die. I know many of my French readers love fragrances from this house. My American nose, however, cannot deal with Annick Goutal's colognes. They smelled too old for me.

10: La Roue La Fortune: A wonderful sweet unisex.

6: L'Amourex: It smells citrus and floral like. It is a strange mixture yet it works.

3: L'Imperatrice: I think I smell hints of violet and another wonderful floral. I like it.

18: La Lune: This one I think is a light oriental. The hint of jasmine comes through. It deserves a place in my collection. It also makes a wonderful evening fragrance.

I'm currently at Sephora in San Diego; I needed to buy Tend Skin. This wonderful product erases my razor bumps; so, I'm in love with it! Well, since I'm here I had to smell their huge collection of fragrances. One particular group of frangrances that I'm sampling is from D&G. This group is the fashion houses newest fragrances. Well, I thought of these three perfumes and colognes:

Angel for women and men -- this fragrance is sweet and from another world. It is almost sacred.

Black Orchid -- this fragrance is opposite of angelic. It is sinful and maybe a little demonic. You can get laid with this scent for men and women.

Element -- this fragrance for men is like brahmin, the essense of existance according to Hinduism. It smells sacred and very airy.

The smells of old Catholic churches always make my eyes teary. Those scents remind me of my childhood religious rituals: first communion, first confession and confirmation. They also bring up scents of my childhood church -- old dark woods, musty, floral, burning candles, incense and crowds of ethnic folks. When I first smelled Holy Smoke by Demeter, those same feelings suddenly arose in me; I felt that I was in my old church.

Even though Holy Smoke can evoke very powerful sacred memories, this fragrance is not meant to be used daily. In fact, I believe for most people, including myself, this fragrance is just too niche to wear. If you want to wear it for a sacred ceremony or want to feel "holier-than-thou," it is the perfect scent. If you wear it at the office or at a party, you will get strange looks from your officemates and fellow partygoers. I personally used the fragrance as an air freshener. It seems to exorcise demonic smells, such as nasty bathroom scents, from my home.

Since Demeter is known to use very few notes in its fragrances, it makes sense that the the only notes in Holy Smoke are incense and smoke. It is available as a 1 oz spray for $20.00 and a 3.4 oz spray for $39.50. It is also available in other bottle sizes, as a room refresher and as body products. D&G Fragrance Anthology: Fragrance Advertisment

D&G launched the Anthology collection this past summer. Inspired by Tarot Cards, the collection consists of Le Bateleur 1, L'Imperatrice 3, L'Amoureaux 6, La Roue de la Fortune 10 and La Lune 18. Each perfume is made for both genders and any age group would love them. According to Osmoz, "the line was conceived ‘the image of the famous, mysterious deck of Marseillais tarot cards, with each bottle bearing the name and number of the figure from the deck that inspired it’."
