o With several quick start apps, you can receive the latest local news, weather, traffic, stocks or see the latest sport scores – all customized based on your zip code.
o Or, you can select from thousands of information choices through FrameChannel to add to your slideshow of customized content on your TiVo homepage.

Internally, we often discuss the “sweet spot” for the FrameChannel service. Wikipedia defines a sweet spot as a place where a combination of factors suggest a particularly suitable solution. FrameChannel has been very successful with a variety of connected screens in partnerships with companies such as Sony, Viewsonic, Roku, Toshiba, Samsung, Philips, Kodak, and Motorola. But FrameChannel’s “sweet spot” may soon be defined with Apple’s likely centerpiece announcement this week of their highly anticipated Apple Tablet.

Tablets, Slate PCs and Media Players all the rage at CES

You couldn’t walk very far at CES this year without seeing a product or prototype in the Tablet, Slate PC or Media Player space. With the anticipation of the Apple Tablet announcement later this month, many CE companies were trying to beat Steve to the punch by showing off their newest Slate PC. All great news for FrameChannel users as FrameChannel will be available on many of these devices in both a screensaver mode, turning your idle tablet into a decorative and informative connected screen while also offering an interactive mode, one click access to the content that matters to you most.

And for every tablet announced, it seemed there was a media player announced from Boxee to Roku to Popbox, many CE companies are getting in the space of allowing over the top access to internet content on your TV, bypassing the cable companies. FrameChannel is already available on many of these devices and others are lining up.

Based on the activity at CES, looks like a huge year for the FrameChannel service!

iSlate or iPad or iTablet - the most anticipated information appliance of 2010

As noted on WirelessPictureFrame, this Apple Tablet is the most talked about device that has never been officially announced. Just as Apple reset the bar for the mobile phone industry, we are excited that they will do the same for connected screens as the opportunity for a FrameChannel interactive screensaver on a large touch screen device is something we’ve been talking about since FrameChannel was first dreamed up.

When this Apple Tablet hits the market, I’m sure we’ll all be blown away as we always are with new Apple innovations. We don’t know for sure what it will be called (iSlate and iPad are the rumors), we don’t know what cool new features it will have but one thing we do know is that an internet connected screen like this will need something cool to run when its in “passive” mode. FrameChannel is the perfect screensaver app for this new device. It let’s you pick and choose the content that matters to you most, from your photos on your favorite photosharing sites and social networks and mix that with updates from your favorite news sources, blogs, RSS feeds, weather reports, sports scores and more. We can’t wait for this new device to launch as it should be a superb FrameChannel experience. Stay tuned, Apple has a big event in late January which could make for a very Happy New Year for all of us.

Popcorn Hour player adds FrameChannel support

In partnership with www.vframe.net, there is now an iPhone app available in the app store that runs your FrameChannel content. I’m running it right now as I type this in my charging cradle so its a wireless picture frame that I can take with me anywhere with all my favorite FrameChannel content.

It lets you stream movies and TV shows instantly from Netflix and Amazon but now with the FrameChannel integration you can turn your big screen TV into a giant information appliance showing pictures from Facebook, Photobucket, Picasa, etc. along with 1000+ channels of content including news, weather, sports scores, stock quotes, RSS feeds and more.

I’ll be giving a Roku this year for sure and at this price, its one of the best items out there this holiday season now that it runs FrameChannel
