The economy.

So many experts were commenting about the ailing economy months back, some even cited the worst is over, it's time to invest again.

But, U.S just announced that it's in a recession. Very official already.

So it's the beginning lah and not "the worst is over", the worst has yet to come in fact. These experts are surely a bunch of positive self-talkers.

So no Christmas shopping for me then. My torn Goldlion wallet is getting slimmer, no money to buy a St Dupont brand. Cannot go on a shopping spree now. I just went to the tailor for new clothings so no budget now, I got to save some money for stormy days.

So it's also the beginning for me. My budget will go on a diet for a long time before the economy recovers.

Hopefully, no more bad news until the economy recovers.

Keeping my fingers crossed.

We are not safe

I tried to write light-hearted stuff for my blog but I can't help but to pen my thoughts on the tragedy. You know what I meant "The act of terrorism which killed a Singaporean in Mumbai"

Never will anyone expects a Singaporean to be a victim of terrorism. Singaporeans seem to be the blessed lot, what worst could have come to us? No war, no treason, no civil war etc....

We are still under threats.

But terrorism is minimal here, I could only recall 3 incidents:

SIA plane hijack, but hijackers were killed by our Commandos.
Attempt bombing of MRT, was foiled by ISD
Attempt to hijack a plane and crash into Changi Airport, but was foiled.

1 more incident happened before I was born (I think), an attempt to bomb Shell (Am I right?)

We are safe-guard by an efficient police force but when we step out of the country we are just as vulnerable like everyone else. We are still not safe.

I have never expected a Singaporean to be a victim of terrorism. But the truth is cruel, one of us was killed, in Mumbai, somewhere near us.

It can happen to anyone not limiting to Americans and Britons. Be on guard, I say. We are not safe from terrorism.

Not limiting to the Middle East or Mumbai, the danger lurks in every corners of the world.

Attempts have already been made in the past to kill our people but failed. Mas Selamat is still at large (erm...missing for a long time already), we can't find him.

Singaporeans being kiasi will always avoid dangerous places but who knows when danger will find us.

Just be on guard even when we are here in Singapore. Let's not be complacent since we cannot afford to have one attack on our land.

That terrible migraine and neckache

Horrible day. My usual torment is back last night, migraine and neckache which tortured me till this morning at around what time I don't know.

Everytime I have a migraine, the back of my neck become stiff, sometimes it got so bad that I have to turn my head like an aligator.

The migraine was unbearable this morning and shook me up before the dawn and only subsided when I popped 2 panadols.

I think I need more rest and minus the wee hours reading.

If this still doesn't work, I, most probably will have to see a specialist soon.

It's an unfortunate event, never expect India, the next rising power to sink into this horrible mess. Terrorism is deeply rooted and I don't think any victory of the India government will cease attacks in India.

Big fuss over Rottweiler insurance

$100,000 coverage is what you need to pay if you are an owner of Rottweiler.

The Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority (AVA) told The New Paper that new rules were being considered following reports of vicious attacks by rottweilers on people and other dogs locally and in other countries.

One such attack happened on 26 Nov last year, when Madam Satpal Kaur's five rottweilers attacked a smaller terrier in Lengkong Tiga, Kembangan.

She was fined $6,000 for letting her dogs out unleashed and unmuzzled, and had compensated the other dog's owner.

The AVA had said it was thinking of creating a new category of dangerous dogs, with the rottweiler and its cross-breeds being included in this group.

Owners of such dogs would have to take up a $100,000 insurance policy and a banker's guarantee of $2,000.

The guarantee would be forfeited if the dog strays, bites someone or is reported lost.

Newly licensed dogs must also undergo obedience training.

Why kick a fuss? If you can own a Rotty, you most probably live in a land estate, can’t you afford a small premium for your dog’s insurance?

Rotty’s owners always claim that their dogs are friendly, well train, non-aggressive even their kids play with the dogs. But! This is one family: the dogs, the kids, the owners, the dogs don’t attack them but what happen if the dogs go out in the public where everyone out there is a total stranger to the dogs?

Don’t dog owners realise that?

I like Rotties, they look masculine and tough but I don’t have a big apartment to house them, at the same time, I think they are potentially dangerous is un-train and un-man. Owners should take out a insurance to cover any potential damages Rotties may caused. I don’t think it’s unfair, there are other breed in the watch list too.

I will pay for the insurance if I own a Rotty.

Who hasn't vote? I am not surprise if YOU who want a stronger opposition, cry everyday, complained each time the cost of living goes up, is too comfortable to make changes. Like the comments I have left on Jaywalk, in my personal opinion, Singaporeans want changes, cry for changes but do not take the first step. We are always waiting for someone else to do it for us.

We just sit and wait, wait and see, but no action. If anyone doubts the Bradley effect, you are wrong, in Singaporeans you will find the best evidence of Bradley effect.

Complain here, complain there, in the end, guess where the votes go to?

We cannot force anyone to change their political inclinations but don't complain if you have given your vote to your favourite party. You chose it.

I still like PAP, I voted for them because I think they did a good job and have good visions and a pool of promising youngster to take over the baton. But we need a strong opposition too.

We need an active voice.

To think I am still awake at this hour, kind of tired but I still have energy to last me for another 3 hours. I have just finished all the feeds I subcribed to.

Got to read them everyday now instead of doing it once a week. 4 hours straight, my bones are breaking.

You see, I have this obsession for information (kind of addicted), I must take as much information as I could in a day. Not including the 100 books in a year resolution- my new goal. Previously the target was 50 and I did it. I am serously addicted but I really have to say that digesting information is very enjoyable.

I better get some sleep now.

Nothing new if you have been to foodcourts especially in the CBD area. With tissue paper reservations endorsed by diners as the right of way to reserve seats, I am not surprised that I couldn't find a seat during my lunch hour AGAIN.

Should I join the crowd? Take a pack of tissue paper and dump it on the table and say "This seat is taken, it belongs to me". I will get my seat specially reserved for me.................But forget it. This is too ungracious for me.

I thought this is a norm in the CBD but I was wrong, my seat was snatched even in the heartland. I caught a glimpse of an empty seat somewhere, fantastic I thought before roaming the foodcourt for food but when I was back with my food, the seat was still empty BUT there's a pack of tissue paper there. According to the unspoken rule: THIS SEAT IS TAKEN.

I know it's stereotype to generalise every Chinese but....I have yet seen one who proves me wrong. Poor tax payers....

The FTs look at Singapore like a goldmine where they could come plunder and leave. This FT took the tax money and benefitted himself without making contributions to our society.

Why waste the tax payers' money? There are so many ways to spend our money, investing in FTs is a waste of time and money. They are not going to be loyal to us (they shouldn't, they are not citizens). Spend it on the people who will stay and defend this land.

I sound like a soldier already (always will be the obedient soldier).

Sometimes the Chinese just irks me

I used to have very good impression of the Mainland Chinese, they were like hardworking, hungry for success, blah blah blah.

My contacts with the Chinese have increased tremendously given their presence in Singapore, I mean: they are everywhere!

On one occasion, I was in a bus towards Suntec City, a Chinese national was stand next to me near the door, when the bus stopped to pick up passenger, the back door was opened and this China man conveniently SPAT out of the bus, one mouthful of “it”. I was standing next to him.

Next, I was strolling down Waterloo Street one day, I dropped by one of the stalls which I always patronize for my drinks. I was charged $1.20 per drink by the Singapore boss usually, it must have been an unlucky day for me, that boss wasn’t around when I was there. A Chinese lady served me a drink and charged me $1.80 for it. The price really fluctuates so fast within weeks. I was really thirsty that moment so I have choice but to pay her. The price was reverted to $1.20 few weeks later when the Singapore boss served me.

My guess: dishonesty in play. Chopping me like a carrot.

There are too many for me list, like...talking loudly on the phone, squatting in the train, cutting corners....

I don’t think that’s discrimination. Simply wrote what I have experienced.

Town councils lost money in Lehman

SNGAPORE : Several Singapore town councils may have lost a small part of their sinking funds through exposure to failed Lehman Brothers-linked investment products.

Even our town councils have faith in Lehman Brothers. Really have to thank The Straits Times for digging news, though I don't really trust what papers reported. Continue digging....

I thought the ordinary folks who bought Lehman bonds are bad with their finances, even the Town Councils are not good at it (erm...with tax payers money).

I only trust myself where money is concern. Never made a single profit, not even a single digit profit when I bought recommended investments. My scorecard is better when I pick those investments myself.

She looks Taiwanese to me. Do Singapore girls look like that? I have seen other photos of this girl and the interior of the house doesn't look like a Singapore apartment at all.
