Training your dog to walk on a leash without pulling can take some time. One thing to remember is you do not want to have a tight leash. If you have a tight leash, you are training your dog to pull.

Some tips to help you train your dog to walk on a leash:

Pratice indoors first.
Try dropping a treat behind you and then walking ahead.
If your dog pulls: stop and wait for him to come to you or wait for slack in the leash.
If he pulls on the leash: turn around and go the other way.
Pratice walking back and forth in front of your house or somewhere outdoors.

Remember when teaching your dog to heel and walk on a leash is it important to always maintain eye contact.
