Every year, tech lovers gather for the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), and CES 2018 did not disappoint! Held from January 9–12 in Las Vegas, CES 2018 showcased an incredible lineup of innovative gadgets and forward-looking technology that promise to shape the next wave of consumer electronics. With thousands of exhibitors from all over the world, CES offered a look at everything from high-end TVs to self-driving cars and even smarter home appliances. Here are some of the highlights and most talked-about announcements from CES 2018 that you need to know about:

LG’s Rollable OLED TV: The Future of Home Entertainment

One of the most mind-blowing reveals was LG’s rollable OLED TV, which marks a serious leap forward in display technology. Imagine a 65-inch TV that can roll up into a compact box, saving space and transforming your living room at the touch of a button! This stunning prototype uses flexible OLED technology, allowing the display to seamlessly retract into its base.

This development could mean the end of large, immovable TVs taking up space in our homes. The rollable TV not only changes how we interact with screens in our living spaces, but it could pave the way for the next era of television innovation.

NVIDIA’s DRIVE Platform: Bringing Us Closer to Autonomous Cars

Self-driving cars have been a CES staple over the past few years, but this year, NVIDIA took it to a new level by unveiling its NVIDIA DRIVE platform. This comprehensive AI-powered solution is designed to help manufacturers build fully autonomous vehicles, with real-time processing power and safety at the forefront. By integrating the DRIVE system, cars can “learn” as they drive, processing information quickly and navigating complex environments with ease.

NVIDIA’s approach to autonomous vehicles focuses heavily on safety, with built-in redundancies to prevent accidents. This technology isn’t just about convenience; it’s about creating a future where driving is safer, greener, and more accessible to everyone. NVIDIA’s DRIVE platform shows us that the future of mobility is just around the corner.

Sony’s Aibo: A Robotic Dog with Personality

One of the more nostalgic moments of CES 2018 was Sony’s revival of Aibo, the robotic dog that first captured hearts in the early 2000s. This new Aibo, however, is equipped with modern AI, enhanced mobility, and the ability to form “emotional bonds” with its owners. Aibo recognizes faces, responds to voice commands, and even “learns” your preferences over time, making it an adorable and highly interactive companion.

Priced at around $1,800, Aibo might not be for everyone, but it certainly wowed CES attendees with its charm and technological sophistication. Sony’s Aibo highlights the potential of AI-powered robotics in bringing us closer to lifelike, emotionally aware companions.

Smart Home Innovations: Making Everyday Life Easier

CES 2018 saw a huge wave of advancements in smart home technology. From voice-activated mirrors to refrigerators that can place orders for you, our homes are getting smarter in ways that are increasingly practical. Highlights included:

Kohler’s Voice-Activated Mirror: Kohler’s smart mirror integrates with Amazon’s Alexa, letting you adjust lighting, play music, and get weather updates as you get ready for the day.

Samsung’s Smart Refrigerator: Samsung’s latest fridge features an internal camera that tracks food inventory, expiration dates, and can even recommend recipes.

These smart home gadgets are more than just novelties; they’re practical tools that show how tech is making daily tasks simpler and more efficient.

Lenovo’s Mirage Solo: A New Era for Standalone VR

Virtual reality continues to captivate audiences, and Lenovo’s Mirage Solo was one of the hottest VR devices at CES. As a standalone VR headset powered by Google’s Daydream platform, the Mirage Solo provides an immersive experience without needing a connected smartphone or PC. With 6DoF (six degrees of freedom) tracking, users have more movement options, creating a more interactive and lifelike VR experience.

Priced competitively and requiring no external setup, the Mirage Solo offers a new level of convenience and accessibility in VR. It’s perfect for those who want a high-quality VR experience without the complexity or high cost.

Wrapping Up CES 2018

CES 2018 gave us a thrilling look into the future, with groundbreaking innovations in areas like display technology, artificial intelligence, home automation, and VR. Each year, CES reminds us just how rapidly technology is evolving, and this year’s show was no exception. LG’s rollable OLED TV, NVIDIA’s DRIVE platform, Sony’s Aibo, and Lenovo’s Mirage Solo were just a few of the showstoppers that gave us a glimpse of what’s to come.

What was your favorite gadget from CES 2018? Let us know in the comments! And stay tuned for more CES coverage as we follow the latest in cutting-edge technology.

There have been several statements made by the United States Federal Trade Commission against Qualcomm, the mobile chip giant. The FTC revealed that Qualcomm coerced Apple into exclusively using its chips in exchange for reduced licensing fees for pushing the competitors out of the market. All the aforementioned facts were revealed by the federal agency in a latest unsealed antitrust suit against the mobile chip manufacturer.

Talking about Qualcomm, it is the most dominant supplier in the modem chip market which enables the smartphones to connect with the cellular networks, but for people looking to improve their cellular signal, there are services online that allow this, you can read more here about this. However, the chipmaker obtains a licensing fee for almost every latest phone across the globe. The FTC filed a complaint against Qualcomm in the US District Court which is located in the Northern California District. FTC revealed that the chipmaker based in San Diego had misused its dominant position for maintaining an illegal monopoly on its phone making partner companies such as Apple. The FTC further added that Qualcomm has even established signed an exclusivity trade agreement with Apple for the period from 2011 to 2016.

The chipmaker issued billions of dollars as rebate to the niche phone manufacturer for the arrangement. In case, Apple purchased modem chips from any other chip supplier during the aforementioned time frame, Apple would have been subjected to huge penalties by losing the rebate payments made by Qualcomm, revealed FTC. The chipmaker’s principal aim was to keep its competitors away from the iPhones. The FTC further revealed that the company recognised that any of its competitors that cracked a deal with Apple would become bigger and stronger. Thus, Qualcomm made use of the exclusivity agreement with Apple for stop it to work with as well as improve the effectiveness of the chipmaker’s competitors.

The exclusivity agreement concluded in September 2016. As per the reports and lawsuits, it seems that the phone maker has already started to break free off Qualcomm’s bindings. In other news, there were some versions of iPhone 7 that were released back in September 2016 that packed in chips from Intel, Qualcomm’s arch rival. As per the suit, the exclusivity deal dates back to the launch days of the pioneer iPhone back in 2007. Qualcomm had agreed to pay rebate in exchange for phone maker’s non-inclusion of the 4G cellular networks which was named WiMax back in the day. Intel was championing WiMax during that time. However, the WiMax quality gradually withered away.

FTC also said that Qualcomm used another strategy for keeping Apple from straying away to other chipmakers. Qualcomm threatened Apple to limit the iPhone’s access to the cellular chips apart from hiking the royalty payments. FTC has even requested a court order for preventing Qualcomm from anti-rival behaviour. Qualcomm in response has issued a statement. As per the statement, the chipmaker believes that the complaint is found on flawed legal speculation, a lack of economic support as well as vital misconceptions related to the mobile technology industry. The complaint only wants to promote the bargaining power and interests of the companies that have derived huge profits because of innovative cellular technologies developed by Qualcomm.

The Asus ZenFone 3 Deluxe is a 5.7 inch phone coupled with smart engineering for hiding the antenna lines. As a result of the aforementioned camouflage, the phone is a neat looking metal gadget. The phone boasts of a vibrant and bright display, courtesy to the 368ppi along with the 1,920×1,080 pixels of resolution. However, lots of pre-installed applications can make the phone’s everyday functioning laggy and slow.

With dimensions of 6.16×3.05×0.3 inches, the Asus ZenFone 3 Deluxe weighs only 170 grams. The phone runs on the Android 6.0 Marshmallow and is powered by 2.15 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. People can choose from two of the Qualcomm Snapdragon variants that are available for the aforementioned phone. The phone comes with an 8 MP front camera for all the selfie addicts while the rear camera is a 23 MP version. The rear camera’s default auto mode keeps the shutter open for long for a brighter picture. But, in case the image’s subjects are on constant move then, all one gets is a bright blurry shot for a picture. The phone comes packed with a powerful 3,000mAh battery that lasts close to 14 hours on a single charge. The non-removable battery can easily last more than an entire’s day usage.

The Asus ZenFone 3 Deluxe comes with an internal memory of 64 GB or 256 GB which can be extended upto 2TB. The fingerprint sensor is located on the back cover while it makes use of the USB-C connector. Some of the Asus ZenFone 3 Deluxe’s special features include metal-chassis sans the antenna lines and dual-SIM. The Taiwanese company has worked well on the overall hardware but misses some of the vital points with its software designing.

The Asus ZenFone 3 Deluxe comes with a price tag of AU$375 or $500 or £450 but is not yet available in the United Kingdom markets. The aforementioned reasonable pricing is because of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor. There is also a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor variant available for the phone. But it is priced at $800 or AU$1,085 or £660. The 821 variant isn’t available for the markets in Australia and UK.

The positive things about Asus ZenFone 3 Deluxe include its premium looking all metal body apart from it being sleekly designed. The phone comes with a massive 6GB of RAM. The phone also packs in a fantastic battery life. The negative things about the aforementioned phone include the sluggish rear camera performance in low light settings. The overall performance of the Asus ZenFone 3 Deluxe has the potential to be laggy. On the other hand, the cluttered Bloatware and user interface of the phone can make the phone’s usage a pain.

Thus, all in all, the Asus ZenFone 3 Deluxe boasts of a luxurious built but has been highly overshadowed by its poor performance abilities and Bloatware. Experts suggest that people considering buying the aforementioned phone should think of getting a cheaper ZenFone 3 or the OnePlus 3T.

Among the most considerable reason for the aforementioned unbaked-ness is the lack of accessibility. I am not sure they have heard of cryptocurrencies as well. There are so many ways to get passive income, and trading Bitcoins in one of them. Check out crypto-trader.info if you do not want to miss an opportunity to earn some money. Particularly in developing countries, the lower income groups are often left out of the fold as they lack the access to the primary banking facilities. But now, as the basic services such as mobile banking have manifested to benefit people to come out of poverty in Africa, several organizations are seen beginning to focus on the economic inclusion of the neglected communities. A mobile payment solution, 2Kuze from Mastercard Labs is among one such scheme designed for the farmers in Kenya.

As far as the name of the initiative is concerned, 2Kuze translates to “let’s grow together” in the Swahili language. The aforementioned mobile payment solution is nothing but a digital platform which establishes a connection between the farmers and the agents as well as buyers for the procession of cashless transactions. The system generates a text message by tapping into the farmer’s community when a buyer submits an online query. It is totally the farmer’s choice whether to respond to the inquiry or not with an offer for providing the produce demanded or to pitch in the amount available at the given time. The Mastercard Labs’ agents will then go on to verify the offer made as well as negotiate the cost with the farmer.

Conventionally, the farmers have had to undertake journeys of several miles for the purposes of buying and selling or making and receiving payments. But with the availability of 2Kuze, more the Kenyan farmers can establish connection with each and every critical position of the marketplace. At present, the aforementioned digital platform is being used by over 2,000 farmers in Kenya.

2Kuze is backed by $11 million funding by Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and has been in the making since the year 2015 in a program to combat student loans. Mastercard Labs conducted a brainstorming session for Financial Inclusion in Nairobi, Kenya which brought together developers and designers apart from the local non-trading partners under the same roof for finding a solution for the lower income farming communities. The aforementioned communities form a substantial part of the 8 million Kenyan farmers that solely rely on their produce for supporting their families. However, over the years, with several economic and climatic changes, the smallholders continue their cultivation on small land stretches for low output. This has held them back in the vicious cycle of poverty.

Thus, the availability of 2Kuze for the small scale farmers with less than two acres of land is a big opportunity. The small scale farmer’s community consists of 80% of the African farmers. By including the lower income farmer’s into the digital financial services’ fold has garnered importance in the recent times. But the entire East Africa and especially in Kenya, the mobile banking facility via M-Pesa has been a huge hit in the last ten years. 2Kuze on the other hand, focuses on creating a platform on the existing mobile framework for making the financial services more accessible to the lower income farmers.

The German wireless audio gear company, Bragi made news made quite news on Kickstarter. Bragi made the announcement the follow-up for its feature enriched activity tracker Dash wireless earbuds way back in the September of 2016. The company named the product, Headphone. Supposedly, the Headphone was slated to be shipped in the November of 2016 but because of a small hold-up, the product is no finally accessible to the public. The latest set of wireless earbuds by Bragi come with a price tag of $149. However, the aforementioned pair of in-ear headphones come sans the hand gestures and tracking capabilities when compared to Dash, its $300 elder sibling. Dash also featured on-board storage for playing music sans any sort of phone pairing. But the consumers shouldn’t be fooled by the lack of features of the Headphone. The aforementioned pocket-friendly, inexpensive bluetooth earbuds are still a sturdy set of earbuds to own and to gift. Most of all, you can rest assured that, with that many positive reviews, your purchase is safe.

Talking about the affordability, Bragi’s Headphone is only $10 cheaper when compared to the Apple’s AirPods apart from offering an additional hour of audio. The latter set of earbuds also faced a shipping delay before finally hitting the markets in the month of December. People don’t need to feel something sticking out of their ears when they use Bragi’s audio attachment. The Headphone boasts of on-board controls for volume adjustment which in turn enables transparent audio for hearing the outside world without having to take off the earbuds. People can easily trigger voice commands as well as take calls with the Headphone. However, there can be times when the Headphone might start to feel real uncomfortable when one tries to push some buttons which in turn pushes the earbuds inside the ears. The Headphone isn’t waterproof and the carrying case lacks battery. In other words, people have to do with whatever charge the earbuds have before leaving their house.

The Headphone comes with remedied connectivity issues which were prevalent in Bragi’s Dash. The Headphone which is the more economical version comes sans any dropouts. But most importantly, the Headphone had their connection intact all along when they were being tested. The aforementioned earbuds come with upgraded battery life that lasts upto 6 hours on single charge. The aforementioned battery improvement is the courtesy of Bragi’s nixing of some of the smart features. The Headphone can easily connect to any Bluetooth device for belting out uninterrupted music.

Since the earbuds sans any cords are becoming more and more common, there are several options for the consumers to choose from. Bragi’s Headphone can be a tough competition for the Apple’s AirPods. This is because the former packs in certain features that even the AirPods doesn’t have. Thus, all in all, Bragi’s Headphone is definitely worth considering. Interested customers can order their in-ear headphones from Bragi’s official website. The Headphone is currently being shipped in over 30 countries which include New Zealand, Australia, Hong Kong as well as Europe and North America. Bragi offered a warranty extension to the users because of the shipping delay to the pre-ordering customers alongside an apology card.

Till now self-driving cars by Google has no commercial use for them. But it can change if the Silicon Valley giant develops an autonomous ride sharing network to compete with Lyft and Uber. Google recently filed a patent application. This application was noticed first earlier this month. Google said that it wants to operate fully self-driving vehicles with wireless charging vehicle dock. The passengers have to provide some information like pick up or destination location and the car maneuvers to that location. All locations are not safe or accessible for the autonomous cars, because many of them are precarious and have steep edges and curves. Setting loose such cars into such locations can land them up in an auto repair service store earlier than expected. Infrastructures such as car lifts are a perfect rest stop to these self-driven cars as they are highly secure. These vehicles may not be able to drive everywhere a human driven car can. Such as lanes or construction zones for emergency cars. Anyway, this new technology can cause extra tension on the roads. Learn about Hornsby, Watson & Hornsby firm if you have some unresolved personal injury issues, as their car accident attorneys can have everything covered. If you are really into cars then you need to check out Car Bibles, it has a lot of information on different cars.

Google mainly addresses this challenge in the patent application. It said that a centralized dispatching system will provide a set of suggested locations for drop-offs, waiting or safe pick-ups. The patented technology will increase the safety, usefulness and availability of the autonomous vehicles services. Uber directs the passengers to convenient pick-up locations through carpooling features and transit focused products. This is not the first time Google filed a patent application.

The technology company called Torc Robotics last year was granted a patent for unique solutions. In order to reduce the injuries when a self driving car strikes a pedestrian. It described that an adhesive layer is positioned at the front end of the car. The pedestrians will stick to it during the collision. The self driving fleet of Google, which is operated under the Waymo brand, is in the testing phase. The company has announced to deploy the self driving Chrysler Pacifica minivans at the end of January in Mountain View. Chrysler and Waymo will launch its own autonomous ride sharing service in order to compete with Lyft and Uber. Most likely by utilizing mapping service and Waze traffic data of Google. If you want this car, remember that you can get it with 6 month lease and nothing down.

John Krafcik is the CEO of Waymo. Last week at the Detroit Auto Show he said that the company was targeting on few products. It includes last mile solutions, personal transportation and ride hailing and logistics. So Google plans to start small by deploying multi sized autonomous fleet in the confined areas. For example, military bases, corporate office parks, and college campuses. This will help Google to get some additional miles before rolling out self driving vehicles into the city streets.

Uber has its smaller fleet of self driving vehicles. It is used to drop off and pick up selected groups of passengers in Pittsburgh. It tried to start a second test fleet in San Francisco. But it was asked to cancel when it refused to apply for an autonomous driving permit from the state. So these cars were shifted to Arizona and there they will offer rides soon. Lyft is working on the self driving ride hailing service as well in partnership with the investor General Motors. Uber and Google might be in direct competition in the ride hailing market. But right now the Silicon Valley giants are just finding its way to collaborate. Google last week announced that the new version of Google Maps is available on iOS and Android. It allows the users to request a ride from Uber.

A secret filling was made to the Federal Communications Commission by none other than Amazon. Amazon intends to run some experiment on certain frequency bands. Since, the American e-shopping giant have already started working on drone; there is a good chance that the frequency bands are connected to delivery drones. The test will be conducted in rural Washington (to be more specific Kennewick) and at their Seattle headquarters. The application to the FCC disclosed the fact that they are asking for the permission of five months on selected frequencies.

On these selected frequencies, the equipment and software will be tasted. The aforementioned software will possess innovative functionalities and communication. For this test, wireless units and three fixed and low-power transmitter will be installed at the mentioned locations. An evaluating antenna might be incorporated according to the filed application. A customer service outlet is also present in the mall at Kennewick.

According to the Amazon filed application, the first test run will be conducted at headquarter in Seattle. There is good chance that it might expand for outdoor test at the Kennewick site. Amazon also asked for the permission to install equipment which will have a coverage radius of 120 kilometres along the Kennewick site. It is meant for flexibility purpose but would limit the test within the five kilometres range of the said facility.

In the application there is a contact given for Neil Woodward. Neil is a former NASA astronaut who currently works as Senior Manager at Amazon Prime Air for flight test and certification. This contact confirms the fact that the test is connected with the delivery drones. Google and Facebook has also ran similar successful test. Amazon has already delivery packages via drones in UK, but not in their home country. This is because of stringent regulations by the Federal Aviation Administration. Earlier they have patented collective UAV. In simpler terms, it means that in future Amazon may use multiple delivery drones to delivering heavier objects.

The Nintendo Switch is of $300 and it is a unique device and nothing like you have held it before. It has a 6.2 inch 720p capacitive touchscreen and speakers in the lower corners. It is thick, but it is not so heavy. It is well balanced and is very comfortable to hold. If you compared the Nintendo Switch to other tablets it looks rich, bright and sharp. There are proprietary game cards at the top. It also has a recessed power button, two volume keys and a headphone jack. It has a USB Type C charging port and a microSD card slot below. It has a sturdy kickstand around the back. It is used to rest the tablet on the table. If you’re planning on switching to PC gaming, you can head over to 25pc.com for their guides on the best gaming PC builds for any budget.

The biggest selling points of this Nintendo Switch are the hybrid nature. This is a tablet and it is fully portable. It has a home console, which connects it to your television. The most awesome thing it is incredibly flexible and has functional new controllers which is called Joy-Con. It is the glue which holds the whole Switch concept together. It allows you to play all kinds of games in different configurations and it doesn’t need a bunch of expensive add-ons. It switches from one mode to another and it is the best part of it. Each switch has two tiny controllers. They are dubbed as Joy-Con (R) and Joy-Con (L). Both include different joysticks, buttons, vibration feedback and both motion control. They can be used in a number of configurations. When you attach the Joy-Con the Switch will turn into a giant gamepad along with similar dimensions to the Wii U, if you are a truly gamer we suggest to buy osrs accounts here.

The analog sticks are laid asymmetrically unlike the Wii U. It gives the controller a feel closer to the Xbox pad than the 4’s PlayStation DualShock. The analog clickable sticks are better than the Wii U’s. There might a problem as they are smaller. But they are also more rigid and lower than any sticks Nintendo has build ever. Above the analog stick the right sided Joy-Con has traditional A, B, X, Y face buttons and a circular home key below. There is a similar + button in the left of the pad. In the left Joy-Con it has analog up top, circular directional buttons below and also a capture key button at the bottom. This capture button will be used like the Share key on the DualShock. It can take a screen shot instantly to post for you.

Nintendo said that it is almost like the Sony’s setup. Eventually, it will also capture video. It may look little confusing with multiple configuration that offers multiple ways to play games. But it is most likely the most impressive part of the Nintendo Switch. All the options that are available come packed in the box. You can use the same controller that you play Zelda on TV, a motion controlled boxing game that is considered the best gaming under $100, as well as Mario Kart with a friend.

The CES 2017 in Las Vegas was one hell of a show with some amazing concepts and products on display for the public. Almost everything at the CES was about long hours of wait and longer queues. But there was an exception with respect to the battery life of the products that the attendees were glued to. The attendees were not banking on a cheap power bank bought impulsively from a cash register for keeping the tablets and smartphones charged during the course of the show. This was because myCHARGE was requesting everyone for more than a fair trade. The myCHARGE event took place in North Hall.

The myCHARGE event created quite a stir among the attendees as it summoned them for a BYOC or Bring Your Own Charger to their booth. The charger in question could be of any model, make and age as well as any condition. The campaign of myCHARGE had an exchange happy hour for upgrading the attendees’ old charger with one of their best powerbanks. The company claims that their power accessories have the ability to outlast as well as outperform several inferior brands because of the performance and safety designs inculcated into each and every charger that they produce.

All the products by myCHARGE operate at more than 90% efficiency rate, and are manufactured with the best rigid flex circuit boards. Intelligent, integrated and highly efficient circuits exceed the competitors in terms of efficiency conversion rate of 70%. The myCHARGE SmartSenseTM recognizes the connected gadget’s electronic signal for exactly knowing the maximum power that needs to be delivered all along eliminating the probable battery overload or the slow charging speeds. In addition, there are several other films of SafeCellTM protection that includes the Level 1 Active Protection Controller, NTC thermometer, Level 2 Active Protection Controller along with the PTC. All of the aforementioned protection layers make the portable chargers by myCHARGE among the safest options available. The SafeCellTM ensures the device against overcharge, undercharge, short-circuit and over current apart from preventing the battery from causing a fire and overheating.

Each and every myCHARGE products come with complied certificates of UL safety degrees for the wall prong combination and lithium ion battery power banks or packs. The Lighting tips products by myCHARGE are all certified. For people who are still not convinced for trading their old charger for a myCHARGE because of safety reasons then the Power-Stay technology should be able to change their minds as it guarantees the retention of battery power for at least a year.

Marketing VP of myCHARGE, Julie Pickens was available for comment on the exchange campaign of the company. She said there are several people who think that all the portable chargers are created in the same way and the buying decision is made based on low price, size and colour. She further added that the aforementioned though process isn’t the reality of the power bank manufacturers. The latest exchange program by myCHARGE focuses on the elimination of all the excuses that might be holding back people from getting rid of their inferior quality, cheap power banks by providing a free upgrade.

There are people who hesitate in getting the latest MacBook Pro because they hate the concept of using all sorts of adapters for connecting to the laptop’s 3 Thunderbolt ports. Well, there is good news for them. There were several companies at the CES 2017 who are making use of the aforementioned fact for coming up with new products. One such company is Henge Docks. The company is in the business of making wide variety of docks for Apple’s iOS range as well as its line of notebooks.
All three of the aforementioned docking stations would hit the markets from the spring of 2017. The prices for the Horizontal, Vertical and Tethered dock are $499, $149 and $199 respectively.
