Here’s the resolutions the generator came up with for us…

Christmas is nearly upon us so we at The Gate thought it was about time we shared some of our favourite festive movies… Best enjoyed with a mug of mulled wine and a warm mince pie! Any more you would add to our list?

1. It’s A Wonderful Life… see this at a cinema if you can!

2. Muppet’s Christmas Carol… Michael Caine’s best role in our opinion!

3. Nightmare Before Xmas… it always makes us laugh that Jack Skeleton doesn’t know what snow is but he does know what a snowball is… still absolutely brilliant though!

4. You’ve got to love Elf… especially this scene!

5. Our Jill’s favourite movie ever… whether it’s Christmas or not!

6. Not for kids this one…

7. Bernard and the Genie… if you ever come across this film, buy it on the spot!

I’d like ‘Wild Mountainside’ by the Trash Can Sinatras to be made the Scottish National Anthem.

Based on the message ‘have fun from day one’ Play, Talk Read aims to talk to parents about the benefits of playing, talking and reading to young children from birth onwards. It’s proven that during the first three years of life, the four key educational foundations - intelligence, curiosity, language and sociability – are forming, and that parents can have a key role in their children’s development through interaction and play.

The new government campaign will offer parents in Scotlandfriendly advice about how to incorporate playing, talking and reading into their daily routine. The Gate’s digital strategy is to deliver simple tips and ideas about how to give children a great start in life, plus fun user-generated content and a ‘Community’ section that will encourage users to join discussions on parenting issues.

The Gate is delighted to have a chance to use its award-winning expertise in social marketing to highlight the importance of active parenting in the early stages of life. The Gate’s Nicola Potter, who has been handling the Early Years account says: ‘We’ve been having lots of fun working on Play, Talk, Read –and we’re learning a lot of fascinating stuff too – it feels like being a kid again.’

It’s been spotted in struggling shops’ windows, living rooms throughout the land and even government offices. (According to the Guardian this includes “the Lord Chamberlain’s Office at Buckingham Palace, the prime minister’s strategy unit at No 10, the Serious Fraud Office, the US embassy in Belgium, the vice chancellor of Cambridge University, the Emergency Planning Office at Nottingham council and the officers’ mess in Basra”.)

As if that wasn’t enough, the slogan has turned up on everything from t-shirts and bags to mugs and hallway rugs. Perhaps worse (or better we can’t quite decide) is the range of spoof slogan posters that have appeared in its wake.

So, here at The Gate, we think it’s time for some new motivational, positive thinking posters. And these our favourites to live your life by… all far more fun than ‘keeping calm and carrying on’ we feel.
