Gaviri PocketSearch has many useful features that are not found in other search engines. One of these features is the ability to rename many files at once - batch rename files. It is very easy to do this from Gaviri PocketSearch, here are the steps:

1. Search for the files
2. Select the files you want to rename
3. Rename them

We will go through these steps in a minute. Batch Rename is very useful for all those
non-descriptive "image0012.jpg" naming conventions used by digital
cameras. To rename all the non-descriptive names to something useful like "Summer vacation 2007, do the following:

do a search like "image0", or
"DSC0", or "img001" or whatever naming convention your digital camera uses

Right-Click any file in the result set and select Select All if you want to rename all the pictures. Otherwise, CTRL-Click to select non-contigous files (press and hold down the Control key and click on the selected files in the result set).

After selecting the files you want to rename, right-click in the result set and select Rename

Enter the descriptive name you would like to rename the pictures to, example: "Summer vacation to florida 2007" and click OK. Gaviri PocketSearch will
batch rename all the files to the new name and append 1 - x to give each file to make the filename
unique. That's all there is to it!

I use this feature all the time to rename the pictures I take with
my digital camera. If you have Gaviri PocketSearch installed on the SD card or CompactFlash, you cold connect the camera to any computer, start Gaviri PocketSearch and perform the batch rename

Gaviri's universal search vs. the desktop silos approach

You may have heard about a new type of search engine called Gaviri PocketSearch. You may also have thought "Gaviri PocketSearch is just another desktop search engine." Well, not quite. There is a big difference between Gaviri PocketSearch and all the other desktop search engines. The biggest difference, besides
feature set, is
in the concept of modern search. Gaviri PocketSearch was conceived from the ground up as a universal search engine. In other words, Gaviri PocketSearch is to the many devices you use what the browser is to the Web -- a simple, consistent way to access the information on all the devices you use. Desktop search engines on the other hand, work very much on the concept of silos -- they work only on one device. A desktop search silo was useful 10 or 7 years ago when we used only the desktop to create, store and find information.

Today, we use portable devices (flash and external drives, smartphones, PocketPCs, digital cameras, MP3 players, SD cards, etc.) to create and store information on-the-go. We also use desktops, laptops, tablet PCs, and connect to networks and the Web. The average user owns at least 5 portable devices. Since we create, store and find information on all of these devices, we need a universal way to access the information on the devices. Gaviri PocketSearch was designed from the ground up to enable you to find your data on any and all of these devices you use, including home and office network drives.

When choosing a search solution, whether for home or for business, it is important to consider the idea
behind the solution: Gaviri's universal search versus a desktop
search's silos approach. The choice you make determines how easy it is for you to find information across the devices and data sources you use and how productive you are. The Gaviri approach gives you an easy, consistent, one-stop-search approach to accessing the data on all the devices you use. The desktop search, the silos approach to search, works only on the desktop, not quite helpful in today's device-rich environment.

Some of the Things You Can Do With Gaviri PocketSearch that You Can't Do With Desktop Search Engines

Perform a universal search across all the devices you use (flash drives, smartphones, PocketPCs, external drives, MP3 players, digital cameras, desktops, laptops, etc.

Search network drives

Search portability: Install Gaviri PocketSearch on a flash drive or any other portable device and take your search engine with you

Plug & Play search for all desktop and portable computing standards such as U3,
Ceedo, PortableApps, Standard USB, networks, FireWire. Gaviri PocketSearch is the only search engine that allows you to simultaneously search all these incompatible portable computing frameworks!

100% privacy: Gaviri PocketSearch keeps your personal or corporate data private, absolutely no data is transmitted to any external server.

Leaves no traces behind: Unlike desktop search engines, Gaviri PocketSearch does not leave traces of your devices on a host computer. Gaviri PocketSearch uses it Sandbox searching technology to ensure that all searching is done on the device itself and so leaves no trace.

The Future of Search Has Arrived!

There now exists a search engine that is fully portable and is also a full-fledged desktop search engine, it is called Gaviri PocketSearch. Gaviri PocketSearch runs on flash drives, external drives, digital cameras, laptops, tablet PCs, smartphones, many devices that move and even
desktops that don't.

Gaviri's unique plug and play search technology
lets you find your own data on any device and on any portable or desktop framework (U3, Ceedo, PowerToGo, PortableApps, MojoPac, Windows). Your devices and data are portable, now your search engine is, too.

Go to http://www.gaviri.com/ and see the latest innovation in search technology. Test drive the search engine and see how Gaviri
PocketSearch bridges the gap between mobility and the desktop and let us know what you think. We would love to hear from you.

Many devices. Any Location. One search.
Finally!
