I prefer to go over some of my favorite stories within and give my opinions on those.

The Message is my absolute favorite of the collection. Lorraine, a novelist, crippled with social anxiety lives in a mansion away from the hustle and bustle of big city live. A typical day of work turns sinister for the novelist as she realizes the situation she is in. This is what I consider a great read. It is taught with suspense and keeps you guessing. But most of all I can relate to the story as I suffer from social anxiety. The only drawback with this story is that, I want more!

The Doll Maker. Alfred is a strange traveling craftsman that crosses path with Zoe, a young teenage girl.Going to get this out first. Dolls are so freaking sinister! Even when I see a smiling loving looking doll, it gives me the creeps. So from the beginning, my creepy alarm is already beeping but nothing prepared me for what was to come. I don't want to say much more in fear of spoiling this story. Rest assured this is another story that is entices fear and dread.

Dementia focuses on Darren who is awoken during the night by the howls of a elderly woman. The other neighbors deal with her nightly howls and outbursts but nothing helps Darren. Another night awakened by the crazy old woman, puts him into a rage and soon will lead into an encounter with crazy. If you have never been around someone with dementia, then this tale may seem like fantasy. Not all dementia sufferers are crazy, but this disease is brutal and can cause even the nicest person to be come scary and fear inducing. Again this is another story that I like because I can relate in a sense to the main character.

These titles are just a few of my favorites in the collection, but what is so great about collections of shorts is that while these titles I've discussed may not appeal to you; there are many more included that could be what you want. The pages are drenched in blood, dread, and fear. Read at your own risk! But trust me, you will want to read this collection. It's sure to scratch all your horror related itches. Host Nasty Neal welcomed Connar Frazier, director of the upcoming documentary “The Babysitter”, to Without Your Head Horror Radio for a spellbinding hour-long interview.“The Babysitter” tells the story of the real-life tragedy of Nathan Forrest Winters.

Highlights included the following:

WYH: What is the documentary going to be about?

CF: ”The Babysitter” is about Nathan Forrest Winters, who is a former child actor. He was in “Something in the Basement” and “Clownhouse”. Both were directed by Victor Salva, who went on to do “Jeepers Creepers”. Nathan was molested for six years by Victor, and his career kind of went in the toilet afterwards. Victor’s Hollywood people (whatever you want to call them) blacklisted Nathan and he’s coming out now, it’s been thirty years, and he’s ready to talk about it and start raising awareness about pedophilia in the industry as well as everywhere else. So that’s what we’re doing.”

WYH: Was this more than an isolated incident and is this something that’s prevalent in Hollywood?

CF: “Oh, it’s very prevalent…There’s actually a documentary that just came out two years ago called “An Open Secret” which talks about it. It’s happened ever since I guess the dawn of Hollywood, and Nathan; it certainly wasn’t isolated. A lot of people (spread) this misinformation thing (that) it was a one-time inappropriate touching thing, and it really wasn’t. He knew Victor for six years, and this happened for six years. But of course that’s not something that really came up, especially in the trial. Victor really got off pretty easily. On a total of eleven counts…he was only convicted on four, and he ended up serving 18 months out of a three-year sentence in a rehab facility out in Napa Valley; no prison time.”

WYH: The abuse went on for six years; how old was Nathan when it started?

CF: “Victor became involved with his family when he was six. Victor…most of his jobs before he became an established director were YMCA, day care, stuff like that, and he had met Nathan’s mother and he knew that Nathan’s mother dabbled in crafts and had asked her to design some props for a short film he was doing; I can’t remember the name of it. That’s how he became involved with the Winters family, and soon enough it became ‘Well, let me take Nathan out. I’m a babysitter, I can watch him, you guys need a break.’; stuff like that. And he became a family friend early on.”

WYH: How did Nathan’s family become aware of what was going on?

CF: “His family did not know until crew members on “Clownhouse” began to say something. They began to say, ‘Oh, doesn’t that seem a little odd. Nathan runs up and sits on Victor’s lap after he yells CUT; isn’t that odd.’ And so Nathan’s mother just started pressing him and pressing him and finally he said, yes, this has been happening, it’s been six years, and she immediately went and filed a police report…They raided Victor’s house, and Victor was completely unaware of it. So they found photo books where he had taken images of young boys from newspaper articles or clothing ads, he had photos and videos of Nathan showering, and there was also another young boy, Brian McHugh, who was in “Clownhouse”, they found video of, but he has never come forward.”

WYH: How did you meet Nathan?

CF: “I found him on Facebook. I had known about the story and I just came up to him and said, ‘Hey, I’ve got this idea’…I guess he saw something in me; I mean, this isn’t the first time this has come up for him. But I guess something in me he saw different, and he decided to pursue my idea as opposed to others. His biggest thing has always been he doesn’t want to sell out…He didn’t want it to become an exposé; he just wanted to have the story out there because he was never given a voice. Nathan is like this anonymous figure and there’s really nothing said about him online, even if you look up the case. All we really know is he’s this little 12-year-old boy that disappeared. So that’s what he’s really ready for.”

WYH: Whose idea was the documentary?

CF: “It was my idea, and we brainstormed. I told him from the beginning ‘I want this to be yours’, and I think the first thing I said was ‘I want this to be almost like a therapy session; I want you to be able to get everything out and…make it very personal so the audience feels like they’re in the room with you.’ And I think he liked that, and we just moved from there. We talked how we would go about it, what we would do, what we would discuss, and at the end of the day it’s not even about…it’s not like let’s all demonize Victor, let’s go, pitchforks and everything like that, it’s really just getting the story out there and doing something positive with it.”

WYH: Why was Nathan’s story so important to you?

CF: “I think it’s something that runs through Hollywood. I’ve always been a movie guy; I got into movies when I was four and it runs in my veins. I know about different stories. One of my idols is Charlie Chaplin, (and) Charlie Chaplin had sex with 15-year-olds. The weird balance between the artist and their personal life; Roman Polanski, people like that…With Victor…I came to a point about a year or two ago where originally it was ‘I’m going to go to Hollywood; I’m gonna go do this, I’m gonna go do that.’ Then it became, ‘Why don’t I just do stuff on my own?’ I fell in love with “The Blair Witch Project”, and that movie cemented it in my brain that the way for me that felt most fulfilling is very hands-on. And Victor is one of those guys; he’s one of those heroes who all of his stuff is relatively independent. I think that’s where it came from for me; this is a hero and he did this terrible thing, and I wanted to explore that, and I wanted to explore it in Nathan’s own words because that’s never been a thing for him.”

WYH: You are using Go Fund Me to raise money to make the documentary. What will the money raised be used for?

CF: “My plan, my hope, is to shoot the film in Fort Lee, New Jersey. So we’re all trying to set up. Nathan lives on the West Coast, I live on the East, and so we’re trying to get everyone together. That’s really the biggest thing, is getting everyone together in a room. That’s where the money comes in…It’s for locations, for lodging, for airfare, for whatever we need. None of it goes toward us. None of us so far have made a dime off of it, and no plans have been made to make a dime off of it unless we find a distributor. All of this goes strictly toward the funds, and we have set up precautions. We really had to make sure that we were doing this correctly because we did not want there to be an issue. We do not want people to think that this is going toward us…This is all very clear, very concise; we had it planned out before we dropped it. We made sure that everything made sense.”

(August 31, 2017; Los Angeles, CA):
Joel Eisenberg and Steve Hillard’s Council Tree Productions (“The Chronicles of Ara,” “Then Again with Herbie J Pilato”) has acquired Night Things by Terry M. West to develop as a one-hour weekly horror/drama series.

A book series that began in 2013, Night Things imagines a world where monsters exist side by side with humanity. New York City has become a macabre melting pot. Vampires, werewolves, zombies and ghouls are now the new immigrants and they are chasing the American dream. The Night Things have become part of the system. Iconic "classic monsters" portray crime lords, pornographers, cult leaders, and street hustlers. New York City is run by Frankenstein's Monster (Johnny Stücke). The Night Things fear Stücke and this dread is the only thing that keeps the city from being devoured.
With a liberal dose of violence, gore, and sexual content, Night Things is closer in tone to Breaking Bad and The Sopranos than Penny Dreadful.

"I envisioned Night Things as a TV series after I finished the first book," Terry says. "I'm thrilled that Joel and Council Tree Productions see its potential. I'm very excited and grateful that my pitch will land on the desks of decision makers at major networks/streaming services. It's a great opportunity and we are all working hard on it.”

Says Eisenberg: “Night Things is a blast. Council Tree opened the door to independent authors and we’ve been fortunate to discover true talents like Terry M.West. As a fan of Universal monster classics, what Terry has done to reinvent and, in some cases rejuvenate, these legendary creatures is in a class by itself. We’re anxious to get this one going.”

Host Nasty Neal Lee Jones welcomed American filmmaker and author Gregory Lamberson to Without Your Head Horror Radio. Among the topics for discussion during an engaging 90-minute interview were his career, his cult classic “Slime City”, and his upcoming movie “Johnny Gruesome” that has been over thirty years in the making.

Highlights included the following:

WYH: Your latest movie “Johnny Gruesome” is soon to be coming out. For people not familiar with the book, what is it about?

GL: “Johnny Gruesome is a high-school kid named Johnny Grissom, and he’s a heavy metal dude, and a horror fan, and a partier. He goes out on a drunken joy ride with some of his friends, and he’s really pissed off because he’s been in a fight that day, and he’s been suspended, and his old man is giving him a hard time. Things get out of hand and one of his buddies ends up killing him, and just as they tend to do in these situations the other kids try and cover it up and make it look like an accident. And because he’s a horror fan, he comes back as a zombie of sorts to get revenge. In truth, he’s an angry spirit who quickly realizes that as a ghost he’s impotent to inflict damage on people, and so he possesses his own corpse and puppets it.
And that’s his means of revenge. He walks around looking like a decomposing zombie, and he has the wisecracks and stuff. You know, we’re promoting it as based on this book that I wrote but in fact it’s a script that I wrote way back in 1984; it was the second screenplay I ever wrote, right after “Slime City.”

WYH: Is the story more serious or does it have a comedic tone to it?

GL: “You know, I think it’s somewhere in the middle. When I wrote the character, it was sort of a reaction to all of the slasher films that I was seeing in the early 80’s. This is 1984, and I thought it would be interesting to take some of those slasher ideas and create a monster with a real personality; sort of like the Universal Monsters but somebody who was a teenager. And so I came up with this idea that was really original at the time of this wise-cracking character who would make all these James Bond quips and stuff when he killed someone.

And then the “Nightmare on Elm Street” movies came out. For ten years or so, when I would do with the occasional draft I never let the Elm Street thing sway me one way or the other. But here we are thirty years later and that has been done to death, not just in all the subsequent Freddy films but also in all the Freddy rip-offs; the character who makes the wisecrack before he kills somebody has just become really cheesy. So I told Anthony (De La Torre) that we were going to stay away from that and I just wanted him to try and play the character as a teenager who happens to be a monster. I cut out a lot of the one-liners that were originally there. But it still feels very much like an 80’s film, and that’s because it was written in the 80’s and because that’s my style of filmmaking.

That’s the only type of film I’ve ever made is the film that feels like an 80’s film. So even though we have the high tech cameras and it’s got much better production values, I guarantee that when it comes out some of the reviewers will say oh, it’s a very fun throwback to the 80’s.”

WYH: What is the status of “Johnny Gruesome”, and what are your plans for its release?

GL: “It’s finished except for the color grading, which is when the cinematographer goes through it shot by shot and makes sure all the colors are balanced. We’re really at the point now where we’re starting to contact sales agents and distributors to see who the right one is for us. So in terms of release, I have no idea. We’ll see how quickly somebody steps up to the plate that I like that wants it, and if no one does that in the immediate future we’ll see if we get into a big festival…I’m submitting it to a couple of big festivals where distribution could result because of it.

It doesn’t mean I’m going to get into those festivals, and if I don’t I don’t plan on doing all the festivals I can. “Killer Rack” I spent six months traveling all over the place with it, and I’m not going to do that again because I think too many festivals hurts a film more than helps it. I think the distributor wants a film that a lot of people haven’t seen. It could change, vary from distributor to distributor, but cable TV won’t even acquire a film if you’ve had a cast and crew screening. We’re trying to get into some of those platforms first, and if we’re not able to then hopefully one of these festivals will premiere us. Someone’s going to pick it up, and someone’s going to do a good job with it, I just don’t know who or when.”

WYH: “Slime City” is probably your most famous movie. How did it come about?

GL: “Midway though my first year of college I did a Super 8 film called “Bad Worms”, which really is the genesis of “Slime City”. Very simple, most of it is on one of the Slime City DVDs, a guy gets some beer that’s bad, drinks it, passes out, while he’s asleep a bunch of cute looking, Kermit the Frog looking, Claymation snakes come out of the beer can and burrow their way into his eyes and in his stomach and he’s walking around not knowing they’re inside him. That was really the genesis of “Slime City”; the first draft of the script actually retained the words which I ended up ditching eventually. But before my first year was over I wrote that script.

It was just processing all these different vibes and people around me; it really was just a script about my neighbors so to speak. And then I wrote Johnny Gruesome after that, and Johnny Gruesome was the one I really wanted to make, but I simply can’t get this budget. We can do “Slime City” on a super low budget, and that’s the way it went.”

WYH: What is it about “Slime City” that it always finds a new audience?

GL: “Well, part of it is having a distributor that pushes it every few years. Part of it is having a filmmaker who’s just happy to talk endlessly about this film he made thirty years before. I have no illusions about its quality. There was a period of several years where I wouldn’t even look at it, because I see its faults so glaringly, but once I made peace with it and learned to enjoy it, now I have fun watching it with audiences…I think that what works for the film is that number one there is that authentic New York grind to it but there’s sort of an innocence to it along with the sleaze factor…It’s a very weird movie.

When you sit there and examine this back story that I made up of the cultist and the possession, and eating the yogurt; it’s pretty kooky. And it wasn’t planned out; I wrote that script on a typewriter and I literally got to the middle of the script and said OK, now I have to explain this, what’s the story, made it up on the spot, and that’s what stayed.”

WYH: What is the story about the ending to “Slime City”?

GL: “I know that that ending is the reason the movie is still around today. And there was a point - I almost made the movie a year earlier than I did…I had these Wall Street guys who were going to give me $150,000 to make the movie, three times what I did make the movie for. And everything was going along swimmingly until my lawyer looked at the contract…and said you know, there’s nothing here about creative control or this or that and we have to narrow this contract down. And sure enough, with my next meeting with these investors, they said, ‘Wow, we love the script; great concept’.

As soon as anybody says great concept, that means something doesn’t work in the script for them. ‘Everything is great except the best friend gets killed, and we think he’s the most likable character.’ And I said, ‘Well, Alex has to kill the best friend to cross over so the audience will accept that he has to get killed at the end. He has to do something really bad for the audience to accept him getting killed.’ And he said, ‘Well, that’s the other thing. We don’t think he should die at the end.’ ‘Well you just spend five minutes telling me how great the ending is!’ ‘Yeah, yeah, it’s great, but we think that love should save the day.’ ‘Love should save the day?’ ‘Yeah, like at the end of “Nightmare on Elm Street Part 2”’. I said, ‘”Nightmare on Elm Street 2” sucked!’ They said, ‘Well, it did twice as much money as the first one and you can’t argue with box office.’ And I just said, ‘Look, that ending is what this script has going for it. If you take that away, there’s nothing there.’

And, that was the end. They didn’t call me back. I know that if I had made that movie I would have had a bigger budget, I would have gotten paid, everyone would have gotten paid, but we would have had a film that would have been forgotten two years after it was released.”

Host Nasty Neal welcomed horror icon Felissa Rose, best known for her role as Angela Baker in the cult classic slasher film “Sleepaway Camp”, to Without Your Head Horror Radio for a fun interview that touched upon the legacy of “Sleepaway Camp” and a discussion of her more recent work.

Highlights included the following:

WYH: How did your parents feel about you playing Angela in “Sleepaway Camp”?

FR: “Oh my gosh. You know what, I have the coolest parents. My dad has since passed on, but my mom was so amazing about it. They read the script, and they thought: This is really fun! This is a fun movie! They just figured it was kids at camp. My mom…she felt like I shouldn’t do the hands in the kill scenes, and that was her only reservation. Other than that it was really just like chill, and everybody was awesome, and we had the best time like we were really at Sleepaway Camp.”

WYH: How did other kids act toward you after the movie came out?

FR: “I took my whole 8th-grade class to see the movie, and some of them were thrilled by it and thought it was a super cool movie, and then other people; I think there were other kids who were afraid of me. And there were, you know, there were some bitchy girls because it was 8th grade and we were all like 13/14 years old, so they weren’t so nice, but I think the tougher girls came to my defense and we kind of squashed that. All in all it was a great experience and everyone was really wonderful about it.”

WYH: Did you ever imagine that “Sleepaway Camp” would have such a following?

FR: “Obviously it was big in my life because I was in the movie and I was proud of the movie. I thought it was just a cool horror flick that had a lot of interesting elements. But as far as knowing that there was anybody who even remembered it or knew about it, no; that hadn’t been really part of my world…Jeff Hayes, who runs sleepawaycampmovies.com, he got in touch with me, I want to say like 1999/2000, and he said there are all these fans and people who have made websites loving the movie. Then we went to the Fangoria Convention in New York City in 2001 I think…It was like standing room only, and we had Robert Hiltzik the director, and a lot of the cast, and it was the best moment. I mean it was just incredible. We reunited, and everyone came to tell us that they really loved the movie, and it was great.”

WYH: What was it like to make the sequel (“Return to Sleepaway Camp”)?

FR: “I think it’s so close to what the original was. It’s different than 2 and 3, which are wonderful; I love 2 and 3…but making “Return to Sleepaway Camp” was super fun because when in your life do you get to go back and redo everything? And now I was an adult, so I could go to the parties and I could really delve into the character.

Robert gave me a wonderful opportunity to step in those shoes again, and I loved the movie; I thought it was a great installment. I know people have trouble; they don’t really like the character, that it was a boy; they felt like they couldn’t really sympathize with that character. They felt that the original you really felt something for Angela, where as with Alan he was obnoxious and rude and you wanted to beat the ‘crap’ out of him. But I liked it. I thought the kills were really great and the director was wonderful and all the characters were cool. I loved playing my role…I loved Sheriff Jerry. I was in makeup for six hours a day getting into that character when I worked. And now I got to do some of the kills, so that was different as well; very different from the first time.”

WYH: There are some activists who think that “Sleepaway Camp” is insulting to the transgender community. Your thoughts?

FR: “I think maybe the biggest misunderstanding with the film…I think where the problem has come up, is that they’re saying Angela struggled, and then she became a serial killer. But that’s not at all what happened. The truth is Angela went through a really tough time with losing her family, and then she was raised by Aunt Martha, and that was a completely separate situation from then going to camp. Look; it’s entertainment, it’s a movie, she was picked on, and I think it’s a really cool revenge movie. And I think it’s almost dreamy that all of us who’ve been picked on as prepubescent and teenagers, we can get back at those ‘suckers’; so that’s where the fun comes in.

So I think it’s truly misunderstood and I think Angela is, I believe, a beautiful soul and was unfortunate in the way her journey was depicted by her crazy aunt and her dad and everything that’s happened. But the killing part of it was just the fact merely that it was a slasher film, and that it’s a great revenge story. So, I think the two just collided and it was misunderstood. I’m sorry that they feel that way…You’re not going to make everybody happy when you make a movie, and I wish that they’d understand that it is indeed a film and we’re not trying to hurt anyone.”

WYH: You’re going to be appearing in the upcoming film “Death House”. What can you tell us about it?

FR: “It’s an…amazing and original movie. We just screened it at ScareCON a couple of weekends ago and the performances are wonderful. It’s just totally very science-fiction , very deeply gross - a lot of horrific elements. I’m really so happy the way it turned out; it’s great. You have to see it a few times I think because there’s so much involved and so many wonderful actors attached to this. I think everybody will really enjoy it.”

An explanation for my absence and an apology

I have a confession to make....

I'm not going to spend an hour or so boring everyone but I feel it is time I face the truth, explain some things, and issue many apologies.

I started this blog at first for my enjoyment and a way to get my name 'out there' I had hopes of this taking off and leading to something more. I love to read and have since I was young. Combine that with my love of horror and nerdy side and you have a career to love. That's what I thought. But I have to swallow the hard pills that are truth and reality and admit that these dreams will never come to pass.

I suffer from lymphedema in both my legs. I have had it since I was 10 or 11 after breaking my ankle. It has compromised my dreams and replaced them with pain,embarrassment, and depression. The constant swelling in my lower extremities causes lots of pain and prohibits what I can do physically. I can't sit at the table or couch for more than twenty minutes without excruciating pain. Laying flat in bed offers a little relief but not enough to help. My legs are unsightly and I hate going out in public. I spend most of my time inside and in my bed. The only medical help available to me are some compression stockings that slightly reduce the swelling but not enough to aid in walking.

Sorry I went off and this is longer than I wanted it to be, but you gals/guys deserve to know the reason for my inactivity.

I started reviewing because it gave me something to do while laying flat on my back. I would write notes about the book I was reading and muster up the strength to get on my pc and type it up and post it. I got arrogant and tried to push myself more than I should have and agreed to do many reviews; thinking I'd be able to read and review each book in a reasonable time frame.

I admit that I am a failure. I let down fellow fans and authors, who I gave my word that I would review their books. I've got stacks of books and eBooks that I agreed to review and I plan to but it's happening at a way slower pace.

For all the author's I have agreed to review your works and haven't. I'm sorry. I understand if the trust is broken now I truly do. But I will review your book even if the review isn't as in depth as some of my others.

Sometimes I like to lay back and dig into something that's nasty, violent, and entertaining as hell. I picked Picaro: A Tale Of Extreme Horror because of the author's previous titles. Did this one disappoint? Keep reading below to find out.....
Author Terry M. West has a knack for interesting characters and this tale doesn't stray from that. It's easy to write a character like Binh Pham and have him be boring and predictable, but the author avoids that. Paul Marrane is the second of our main characters. He's written with such skill and has a mysterious aura that makes you want to know everything about him. He's also one cool dude! The Paul, (Binh meets early on ) is someone I could see myself being friends with. A combo of a submissive character(Binh) and an eccentric, strong lead(Paul) make for great reading.

I would go into more details about the story(because it's awesome), but if I reveal too much it would spoil it for others. The writing is great. It's gorier than some of Mr. West's previous works, but the gore isn't added for shock value.

I hope that the author will expand on this universe. It's an entertaining and brutal read that keeps tearing at your flesh long after you're done.

Author Terry M. West unleashes a beast of a novella in "Honger". Published by MorbidbookS, this read comes in at a perfect length. Some novellas have a hard time finding the perfect balance in length. Some drag on more than it should and others end suddenly without giving the plot the time to come to a conclusion. With this title, the author finds that balance and yet keeps the pace moving.

Willem Tenner is a Dutch wheat farmer from 1679. He and his family are visited by an elderly man late one winter night, This mysterious stranger unleashes a curse on Willem that instills an undying hunger in him. From this night on, Willem will embark on a journey through lifetimes only to feed the honger.

A word of warning for the squeamish. "Honger" is gory and bloody, but it's not just gore for the sake of it. The blood and gore aid in the storytelling. While the story isn't loaded with characters, the ones that are present are vital to the story and fleshed out.

At the beginning, I suspected this would be a tale of a man struggling to come to terms with the curse given to him. But with the appearance of a character later in the story, things take an interesting turn.(albeit not one for the main character)

Throughout reading this novella I kept picturing Willem looking like Logan from the X-men movies. Not sure why, but it aided in my ability to let the story play out like a movie in my mind.

Mr. West has nailed another tale that kept me entertained and scratched my it for blood and gore. If you haven't read anything from the author, I highly recommend you do so.

Everyone feared Mayor Austin and the repercussions he enlisted, and because of that, crime was low, until Raven decided it was time for them all to pay for their sin of killing his mother.

Raven’s mind was gone, and the crimes he committed were extremely violent. The lasting memory of his mother with a noose wrapped around her neck, fueled his desire to kill. No one was safe from Raven!

“Raven: an e-short story” by author Amanda Lee is filled with rage and hatred. Revenge can consume you if it’s given a chance and the titular character rams himself head first into the gullet of revenge. Raven gives in to revenge. It consume and changes him into a living monster.

At first, I found myself feeling sorry for Raven and the circumstances of his childhood but his actions as an adult are disgusting. I’ve never wanted a character to get killed or arrested more than Raven. (I hope the author’s intentions were to create an evil vile person.)

I’m originally from Mississippi, so reading a book that is set in the state was a welcoming surprise. Most of the story focuses on Raven getting revenge for his mother’s death and when he gets unleashed the pace quickens as he unravels.

This is a graphic story, with fould language, extreme violence, and brutal sexual situations. Some would classify this as suspense but to me it should be labeled as horror. Raven is a monster with an unfinished quest.

My biggest disappointment with the story was that the ending was abrupt and felt unfinished. I wanted to watch his downward spiral and hopefully his death or capture. If I would have known ahead of time that the story would be split into installments; I don’t think I would have been let down. Also there were two typographical errors but I have informed the author of these.

If you can handled the extreme violence, sex and language, Raven is story that will have your blood boiling and heart racing. This reviewer is eagerly awaiting the second installment ”Raven Unleashed”

“The Dark Alp” is an interesting read that has Baker facing off with a nightmare demon. This was a refreshing story and spin that I didn’t expect but I loved it. One thing I keep thinking of when reading the Baker stories is …. ‘Baker reminds me so much of Sherlock Holmes’. Maybe it’s just me but it is what it is. Overall, I would give “The Dark Alp” 4/5 skulls.

“A Weird Tale” finds Baker meeting up with H.P. Lovecraft. A story that was at the end of “Night Things: Undead and Kicking”. The meeting between the characters was such a joy to read and experience. After the meeting, Baker is burdened by the same nightmares of Mr. Lovecraft. A maddening vision of an ancient evil that will send the world to it’s end. This story for me ended too soon and I wish we could have gotten more from this. Still it’s a worthy read and I give it 4/5 skulls.

In “A Fiend’s Errand”, the author,places Baker squarely in “The Night Things” universe leading to the meeting of Baker and Johnny Stucke. Baker has an artifact held in his ‘Black Room’ that can aid Stucke , but will Baker willingly hand over the item and help Stucke’s cause. This is an epic meeting that is just a tease for what I hope is to come.

Overall “Baker(Demons and other Night Things)” is a great collection that gathers the both the original and new titles for fans that are eager to catch up on the titular character or newbies to the universe. It’s a good read read for any horror fan and a book that I wholeheartedly recommend.

He has tried every medication and so called cure but nothing has eased it. His best friend Tony believes he has found someone that can help; A clairvoyant new to the town. Is Terry ready to accept the risks that comes with this possible cure?

Author Thomas returns again with another dark, brooding, and mysterious work of fiction that will keep you on your toes guessing. The characters are believable and I quickly found myself relating to Terry. Who hasn’t suffered insomnia at some point in there life and who hasn’t ever had a nightmare so ghoulish that you wake up gasping for the breath of reality.
Another quality of the author that is present here is his descriptive writing and the ability to set the scene. I could vividly imagine the scenes taking place like a movie in my head.
While the author pushes for a complex story trying to throw the reader for loop and leave them guessing. I found the ending to be a bit predictable and cliche. It was dark and brutal, but for all the momentum it had; the ending fell flat.
A good read that I would recommend everyone to check out. Filled with twisted imagery, great characters and an intriguing plot that is saddled with an average ending.

Today I’ll be reviewing Erteisia: Ultimate Sacrifice(Volume 3) by author Linda Lofts-Wiles. I was asked to read and give an honest review of the book. While the horror genre is my preferred reading material, I do dabble in science fiction and figured I’d give it a try.
I’ve never heard of Mrs. Lofts-Wiles or her books but from the blurb I was interested to see what this title was all about.

I had a hard time keeping myself in the story. My current schedule and life events are partly to blame but also not having read the previous two volumes I found it hard to know and love these characters. I just couldn’t get invested in their stories. I honestly believe, having read the previous volumes, I would have enjoyed this title much more because there are some great aspects here.

The author’s writing style is elegant and charming. Her word choice and sentence structure is without a doubt top quality prose with great strides taken to bring the world and characters alive.

I wish I could have came to terms and felt something for these characters but without the past volumes I felt out of the loop and indifferent in such an epic and expanse world.
If you love(hell even like) science fiction check out all three volumes of this book. For now, I can only give this title three stars.

I absolutely love collections. Simply for the fact that, in most collections, authors display their skill with different subjects, genres, and styles. So when, Wesley contacted me about reviewing his newest collection; I jumped on it. One thing I know for sure about Mr. Thomas is that he never fails to entertain. Even when I may not fully enjoy a book some part of it entertains me.

Gore Zone entertained and disgusted me, but the damage was done and like a true addict I couldn't resist; jumping back into the depravity and gore. If you are squeamish, this may not be the book or you. But if you've got the fortitude to stick it out, you will be sure to find a story or stories that hook you.

Throughout the collection you'll come across a wide range of creepiness and strange characters but no other character intrigued and disgusted me more than Sady. Sady is a truly disturbing character and her actions had me gagging and clutching myself in pain and repulsion. Before I knew it the story was over and Sady was gone. I need more Sady!! You hear me Mr. Thomas?? Give me more twisted adventures of this demented character. I want to know more about said character and follow the blood trail that she leaves behind.

I think I mention this with each new book released by the author, but Mr. Thomas continues to flourish. Out doing himself with each new release. I recommend this collection for all fans of the author, the horror genre, and gore hounds alike.

The debut book in The Shamed series left me with mixed emotions. It has everything that I love in a book; a great plot with interesting set pieces, action, well thought out dialogue, and descriptive writing that's not obtuse or over done.

The main character is what keeps me with mixed feelings. The author wrote the character with gender ambiguity in mind.

It is never spelled out whether Shame is man or woman and that bugged the crap out me. I like a mystery but it's hard for me to get inside the characters mind, to see and experience what they do if I can't get a feel for their gender. At times, I felt shame was female only to second guess myself a few paragraphs later. For me, it was confusing and distracted me from the rest of the story.

Is this a bad book? Am I saying the author is a hack? No and hell no!

In The Mind Of Revenge is a great read that could have been flawless. Author Liv Hadden is great at the craft and made a brave choice to keep the character's gender neutral. I can only imagine how difficult it is to write a main character that way, so my hats off to her for that. If the rest of The shamed series and her other works are of this caliber, she will be on everyone's Top Ten Authors List within the next few years.

Mr. Thomas is back again to scare the shit out of you. Fear not though, as it's not all blood, guts, and gore. There are sincere, heart warming moments that unfold within the pages of "Succubus" but the dread lingers and surrounds you. Things do get messy and violent but not just for the sake of being violent. The author crafts a wonderful plot that isn't hinged on gore. Remove the violence and it would still be an intense story well worth reading.
I believe Mr. Thomas is stalking me. His stories consistently have elements that terrify me in real life. And within the pages of his fiction, he amps everything up that causes adrenaline to pump and nerves to rattle.
Do yourself a favor and grab this as soon as you can. It's a must read in my opinion and my favorite read of 2016 so far.

I'm no stranger to the hell beast that is Car Nex. A storm of hell,agony, and brimstone created by author Terry M.West; so I had a good idea that carnage would ensue. Up until now, the works of author Stuart Keane were not even on my radar. I didn't have any indication of his writing style and etc. In saying that, I believe Mr. Keane delivered an entertaining and believable story.
His characters are fun and yet gritty. The ability to set scenery and details of the surroundings added the depth needed to make the immersion into the wild west world possible.
Author Stuart Keane brings the Car Nex to the wild west for a fun, wild, and deadly ride on the hell beast. A must read for fans of Mr. West's demonic whirlwind of death or anyone looking for a fun read. I'll be on the lookout for more of Mr. Keane's work.

The only draw back to “Greylock”(and this is a small quibble), I feel some of the passages are drawn out and could be summed up in a fewer amount of words. it makes up for that with great descriptions,characters and dialog. Author Paula Cappa has written an engaging and worthwhile read that could be the story of the year.

EXCERPT ONE

“Well, you need to remember everything you’ve been told about the neutral area between strongholds. The Outlands of Temple are cursed. Yes, it’s a large city and thrumming with people, but it’s also a supernatural focal point. A vortex of some sort that attracts people. Normal and supernatural alike.”

I gulped. “So it rains here all the time. Why would anyone want to stay here?”

Ephrem rubbed his face, scratching his chin.

“Look, I don’t know how much they’ve told you, but like I said, it attracts people. It attracts all sorts of unsavory people too. That’s why it’s dangerous to go traipsing around this place at night. Actually, it’s not safe at any time. No one leaves willingly, either. This place is like… I don’t know… like the strongest magnet in the world. It draws you in, latches onto you and never lets go. People are warned to never come here. Only those of superior supernatural powers are ever able to break the hold it has over them.

I stared at him in horror. “What? Are you saying I’m stuck here?”

He frowned, letting his eyes drop down to his coffee as he added sugar and cream to it. Stirring furiously, he took a moment before answering me.

“Technically, yes.”

EXCERPT TWO:

“My Lady, I cannot leave you here alone. It’s not safe.”

I whipped my eyes open and glared at him. “I told you I was banished. You can stop with the formalities and get. I don’t have time to waste on a pathetic royal guard. Especially a MarkTier. I'm okay on my own.”

“If you come with me, I know a safe place where you can get out of the rain and get warm.”

I laughed. It came out more hysterical than I intended, but I was not in a mood to keep it together any longer. The fact that he offered me any shelter at all, most likely his home, was gracious, yet the knowledge that it was most likely on ArcKnight territory made the offer even more bittersweet. I was banished not only from the royal ArcKnight palace but from lingering on any of the pack’s territories, which included a substantial chunk of the city.

I was truly alone now.

“You’d be punished for harboring a non-citizen… a traitor like me. I can’t. You know I can’t.”

He held out his hand. It glistened with water, for he was soaked to the bone, just like me. The cold rain didn’t affect him at all. I was the one shivering and on the verge of hypothermia, and yet he waited patiently.

“It’s beyond the ArcKnight border. I promise.” His eyes gleamed in the momentary moonlight sneaking past the storm clouds above. They were breathtaking and unusual. I’d never seen another shifter with eyes like his.

It may be beyond the ArcKnight stronghold, but they weren’t the only pack ruling the city.

“But the MarkTiers….”

“They have no jurisdiction there either.”

Staring at him in disbelief, I let my eyes linger on his for an eternal moment. His offer brought more questions to my mind than anything else. Even so, there was something there that held me in a trance and beckoned me to follow. Taken in by that hypnotizing cobalt sea, I reached out, accepted his hand and let him lead me through the murky city paths I’d never trodden, deeper into the unknown.

This place was now my new home, and it was nothing but strange and frightening.

But what choice did I have?

All The while, Doris, Max, and the rest of the hunters search for David; not knowing that a bigger threat is to blame for their friend’s disappearance. The author crafts a chilling tale peppered with bits from the previous installments but still leaving the story accessible to new readers as well.

I’m by no means a history buff(couldn’t stand it in school) but the author’s ability to delve into actual historical facts within these books and yet have them work with the stories is masterfully done. In Chosen she delves into The Navajo Nation(The Reservation) during the 1950’s. An interesting moment in our history that adds more depth to the characters.

I have thoroughly enjoyed following the characters from the beginning and thanks to the author’s rich descriptions and prose I found myself getting into the minds of each character. Chosen is the best of the trilogy, but all three are great reads and shouldn’t be missed.

Q&A with Author Paul Loh

I had the luxury of taking a bit of time and talking with the talented author,actor, and man of many talets; Paul Loh. He is the editor for the "Possessions" anthology, "The Greater Number", and "The Nocent Part 2: Advent of Scathing".

What was your experience with publishing your first story?

I was in the Navy, learning how to be a submariner at Sub School in Groton, Connecticut when I came up with a story of two alien races of the same species coming to earth in a space ship. My idea was that onboard, they had a huge civil war that ended up with total fatalities on both sides. I had the idea that the craft would crash on earth and that the spirits of the different races would possess people and they would continue their war using our bodies.
Eventually, I finished Sub School and was stationed in St. Marys, Georgia on board the USS Wyoming, SSBN 742. During one of my deployments, I met an officer who had published a coffee table book of photos he took of nature. He told me about lulu.com, a self-publishing service website. When I got back to shore, I submitted my manuscript for my story to lulu and had it published.
I ordered a paperback copy to be sent to me, but I was deployed again before it arrived. I had my then wife send it to me out to sea. When it arrived, so many of my shipmates wanted to read it. I barely got a chance to look at it because it was constantly out on loan! That was a great feeling.

What sub-genre of horror (that hasn't been popular in a while. ex: zombies are big now. used to be vamps etc.) would you like to see a re-emergence of?

I don't know about a re-emergence, but I'd love to see an emergence of a genre that mixes the paranormal with zombies. That's what I like to write. Nobody ever talks about what happens to the disembodied spirits of the zombies. Imagine if stuff like Poltergeist was going on during Night of the Living Dead.
Wouldn't that just up the creepiness factor by about a million? There are lots of great ghost stories being told these days and lots of great zombie ones two. I just think that there's some definite territory to be explored between the two

What is one horror movie you could watch over and over?

Well, since I already mentioned it, Poltergeist. I'm talking about the original. I haven't seen the remake. It was the one thing in this world that has helped me to form my ideas about the spiritual realm. I went to church for seven years and never learned as much as I did from watching that movie.
The fact that it's based on actual documented phenomena makes it one of the scariest movies I've ever seen. On a side note, I had the privilege of appearing in Ambush At Dark Canyon with James Karen who plays Steven's boss. He also played Frank in Return of the Living Dead, which is another movie I've seen dozens of times. Maybe, subconsciously, that's why I mixed the two genres in my mind because he's in two of my favorite movies.

what is your most ambitious project to date and what projects(if any) have you been disappointed in the outcome or process?

My most ambitious project is one I plan to take on soon. I will be collecting a bunch of my old poems, song lyrics, comic strips, stand-up comedy routines and anything else I can find and compiling them all into a book. I've got to search through old boxes full of random papers to find it all, type it into a computer or scan it, then organize it all. On a related note, I'll also be putting out a collection of my children's books. I wrote six of them and illustrated them. I'll have to scan them into a computer and organize it all. I have not been disappointed in any of my projects so far (knock on wood).

You have two items with you during the apocalypse. One is book. What book would you have and what would the other item be?

The book would be almost anything from Joe McKinney because he often has people surviving in zombie apocalypses under horrible circumstances. It would basically be a survival guide. The other item would be a shark bite proof chainmail suit.

I am currently working on a collection of my short stories called Solace In Solitude. I am also working on a movie called Heartbreak Bait, which is based on my story Smart Phone from the Possessions anthology. My books can be found at amazon.com under my name.

Book II of the Full Wolf Moon Trilogy picks up eight years later. Max & David are now hunters, stalking the ancient werewolf's lineage where ever it emerges. But nothing they have experienced before can prepare them for where this trail leads.

Author K.L. Nappier returns with Book II of The Full Wolf Moon Trilogy. Bitten follows Max and David as they follow and hunt down the ancient werewolf's bloodline. Both characters, Max and David, work well together and have great chemistry together. Thanks to the author's vivid descriptions and engaging plots I followed along with their travels and tribulations.

The dialogue within the book was inconsistent. It wasn't terrible but some conversations felt dry and boring. Unlike the first book where I had no trouble with the dialogue. There were no spelling problems or typographical errors this time which I found several in the first book.

The story continues from the first book and ultimately leads up the final book Chosen. Things aren't ended neatly here so if you prefer all your stories to have clear endings then maybe this isn't for you. But if you like horror or werewolf fiction you should give this trilogy a chance.

Mr. Hupp brings what we all love about the Car Nex beast while infusing it and the story with his own style and twists. His writing doesn't feature any fancy prose but it doesn't need it as his dialog is crisp and characters are believable and enjoyable.

Car Nex: Trailer Park shouldn't be just read; it should be devoured.

My favorites in this collection are "Null", "The House of Allure","Darker",and "Toe"
Overall "11:34" is good read with solid entertaining writing.
