I tend to neglect my uptown readers...most of the sales/events I choose to cover take place below 23rd Street...not easy to get me above and I am assuming it is sometimes not convenient for you to travel below. So I thought I would share some great events that are happening in what I affectionately call the "nose bleed" section (sorry) of NYC...yes, above 34th street even. First on my must-go list is a great Fur & Vintage Trunk Show at the Shops At The Plaza on December 2nd (today) from noon-8 PM. The event will feature amazing finds from Bobette Cohn and others and cocktails will be served from 5-8 PM. Next is the Lily Kate Showroom Sample Sale featuring one of my favorite contemporary brands Parker. It will run from December 1st - December 11th at 234 West 39th Street, 9th Floor. And now for the motherload...25Park.com is popping up on the Upper East Side (unheard of). The event started on November 30th and will run until December 23rd for all of you last minute shoppers. The address is 1301 3rd Avenue between 74th and 75th...a UES girl's dream location. There will definitely be some sale finds in the mix, but also look for fab new additions to the 25Park.com assortment. This is an event for all of you who just need to touch and feel and haven't quite yet embraced the online-only experience. Here are some of the gotta-have items you just might find...Elizabeth and James Tuxedo Jacket, Elizabeth and James Jumpsuit, Gryphon Beaded Top. Happy Pop-Up Shopping UESers! ~Nancy

A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of visiting Joanna Vargas Skin Care in midtown for one of her amazing anti-aging facials. "Joanna Vargas Skin Care is a private boutique salon that has a reputation for crafting non-invasive and anti aging protocols which include all organic skin care products. It is here where technology and nature are blended in a harmonious synergy to bring you the most advanced organic solutions to skin care" (pulled from the website). The holidays can be really tough on your skin...too much drinking (major dehydration), the first blast of real cold, dry weather (more dehydration) and even less time for yourself. Why not treat yourself or better yet a loved one to a little skin rejuvenation...the holidays are also the time when you want to look your best!!! To start with, Joanna gave me one of her most popular treatments, the Microcurrent Facial. If you are thinking "ouch" think again, not only was it 100% painless, but quite soothing at the same time. Even basic facials can be slightly uncomfortable, so I was thrilled when this one was exactly the opposite. So what is microcurrent and why is it amazing for your skin? Here is some key info again from the website... WHAT IS MICROCURRENT: Microcurrent, meaning mild electrical current, is a near duplicate electrical current to that which the body generates on its own. It is so slight that it would take one million microcurrent machines to light a 40 watt light bulb and therefore generally sub-sensory. It was discovered that an injured or damaged tissue disrupts the natural flow of electricity generated by the body and its this disruption that prevents or delays the body from healing itself. When microcurrent is applied to the injured or damaged area it restores the natural flow of electrical current and therefore the healing can begin. HOW DOES IT APPLY TO AESTHETICS? Skin with fine lines or wrinkles, sagging muscles or lost elasticity is simply damaged. Microcurrent has the ability to restore the lost energy to the tissue and thereby turn back the hands of time on all of us. A microcurrent facial is in essence a non-surgical facelift. The facial muscles and skin are being giving a workout that stimulates collagen and elastin production. Collagen and elastin are two essential proteins needed for the skin to remain youthful and glowing. The production of collagen, elastin and the stimulation of the skin and face muscles begin a catalyst in the skin with some amazing results. BENEFITS: Some of the benefits are lymphatic drainage, regeneration of connective tissue, lifting of the jowls and eyebrows, eliminates or reduces fine lines or wrinkles, tones and tightens the skin, enhanced skin elasticity, skin pigmentation is improved and much more. Most people report immediate results even after the first treatment and best of all, results are cumulative. Let me tell you, this baby works!!!! I saw immediate results...line reduction, overall glow, greater facial tone...AMAZING!!!! She then followed up with some LED Light Therapy...yes, I had the works! More from the site... WHAT IS LIGHT THERAPY: Light therapy is one of the most powerful anti-aging tools in the arsenal against the ravages of time. This powerful technology has been mostly used by physicians, NASA and the NAVY SEALS for muscle regeneration and the healing of wounds. The study and use of light therapy is over 100 years old and has been validated by thousands of results and studies and finally it has moved over into the aesthetic field with amazing results. HOW DOES IT WORK: Cells in the human body use light and convert it into ATP, this is the fuel that powers life on a cellular level. Plant cells have a similar process called photosynthesis that develops chlorophyll, their fuel for life. When light therapy is used, this triggers cellular activity thus producing ATP and once produced, the tissue uses it to carry out healing and rejuvenation in the treated area. BENEFITS:There are many benefits and results that can come from light therapy: increased collagen and elastin production, regeneration of the connective tissue, erasure of sunspots, improved lymphatic system and circulation. It improves or erases fine lines and wrinkles, it lifts and tones and improves the overall complexion of the client. In addition, the client suffers no thermal damage, discomfort, down time, scarring or discoloration and most importantly no negative side effects. The overall experience was phenomenal! Joanna's salon is calm, intimate and accessible. Couple this with her dramatic skin-changing treatments and how can you not book an appointment now? She offers several other services as well, so be sure to check out her site. ~Nancy

After many, many requests from my West Coast readers, I have finally found something I think is worthy of a Gift Of Style blog entry. Don't get me wrong, I am obsessed with LA-based fashion brands and all of the fab LA stores (it is my favorite shopping city), but I really only like to write about style/fashion moments I experience first hand and since it has been ages since I have been in LA LA LAND, I have been careful to remain true to my mantra. So if you are wondering why I am taking the risk of telling you about one of my new So Cal finds without actually having seen, touched, lived it, well you see...I know one of the founders and he happens to be one hell of a fashion/style maven and one of the owners of one of my favorite style destinations and cool kid outlets, INVEN.TORY in NYC. Dakota Collective is an amazing new store concept, located at 1640 Pomona Avenue in Costa Mesa, California or to the all of you "Eastcoasters", the OC. Housed in what used to be a shipyard (love this), the retail space is 3200 square feet of fab brands like BB Dakota, Jack, Cheap Monday, Corpus and lesser known hard-to-find brands, vintage and limited edition product. There will also indoor and outdoor lounge space, a museum/library full of rare art and photography books, a coffee bar, and a gourmet food truck outside during business hours (the future of fine dining for sure). Finally, attached to the store is a music venue/gallery space where music events, art shows, readings, and fashion shows will be held a few times per month..."shopertainment" at its finest!!!! The store is a collaboration between Katherine Brandes, Creative Director of BB Dakota, Gloria Brandes and Mike Townsend (mentioned above). It is a hotbed of creativity, where fashion meets art, where fashion meets music, where fashion meets innovation...it is designed to be ever changing, ever evolving and always intriguing and edgy. The space, from what I have seen in the photos below is amazing and has retained the integrity of the original shipyard...with a tugboat motif as the whimsical nod to the space's origin. Dakota Collective opened on November 20th and is sure to become a key, must-go shopping destination in the OC. I am sure some of you Los Angelenos, will flock as well. Can't wait to get there myself one day soon!!! ~Nancy

If you work in fashion, you certainly know about Burberry's genius new site, ART OF THE TRENCH...by the way, I am officially obsessed. If you aren't part of the industry fold and you haven't seen it yet, then I promise you are in for a fun web treat! The trench is perhaps one of the most iconic items in fashion history. I was just part of a fashion documentary, called Anatomy Of A Closet on Ovation TV and the trench was one of the celebrated items. Did you know that the trench made its way into our fashion consciousness by way of the military? Of course, this makes perfect sense, but sometimes we don't realize the immense amount of history behind our most loved items. Burberry was the first brand to bring the trench to the fashion masses and it remains their most signature item. What I love most about ART OF THE TRENCH (OK, I love several things) is that it celebrates the trench as the most universal, unisex article of clothing one can own...it is truly for everyone! It is first and foremost an "art" website, but it is also 100% democratic. It borrows from the art of street photography and elevates the average in all of us to fashionista status. You see, you can submit your own images for selection to the site...reality TV without the embarrassment (wink wink). If you don't crave the limelight and are adverse to being a participant, the content is really beautiful, so I highly recommend you at least take a browse. Now for the bonus...if you like great music, this is the website for you. It plays a few acoustic tracks from The Kooks album, Inside In/Inside Out...again genius!!! Makes me want to wear a trench everyday!!!! ~Nancy
