Recently, I visited two churches where young people who have caught a vision for missions decided to be a part. Rebecka Belue is an 8 year old girl who is making a world of difference. She lives in Warsaw, South Carolina, where her mother pastors The River. The River is a revitalization project within the South Carolina conference, and Pastor Regina Belue had wondered how the church could start a missions program. During the GO Rally, it was Rebecka who launched the church's missions program with a simple act of faith.

Dr. Kundael Mrema, a missionary to Tanzania, had asked those in attendance to consider supporting his family. He analogized missions support by relating the money involved to something anyone can understand - taking a family to McDonalds. A supporter could think of a $20 monthly gift as being like taking the Mrema family to McDonalds once, and Rebecka asked her mom for a pen and began completing the faith commitment card. She plans to do extra chores to earn the money. Her mother and pastor, Regina Belue, writes about her daughter's decision:

The night of the GO Rally I was reminded what childlike faith was all about. Rev Mrema asked If anyone would consider sending his children to McDonald's once a month. Becka asked me for a pen and began to fill out a card. She asked If she could support his children every month and send them to McDonald's.

I learned a valuable lesson in faith that night. It only takes one person to begin a missions program. Our program was started by a 9 year old.

In Andrews, South Carolina, Stan (16) and Lindsay (13) Wilson of the Bloomingvale PHC are making a tremendous impact. For three years, Stan has raised money for Global Outreach, every year increasing his goal. His goal this year was to raise $1,000, and he surpassed it, bringing in about $1700! His younger sister, Lindsay, decided she too could be a part, and she committed to giving at least $1 a week. Matching gifts from her local missions director, Rhonda Howard, and other donations brought Lindsay's total gift to GO to more than $800 for 2009.

I'm convinced that anyone, regardless of age, can be a part of building God's Kingdom around the world. Will you join these kids and me in giving to Global Outreach or a missionary's support? You can give online, through your church, or by mail or phone. Thank you for being a part; together, we are making a world of difference.

-Dr. Beacham

Such times are rare and precious to missionaries, who labor in isolated locations. They are essential to refresh and recharge those who are drained by continually giving to others.
An experienced, local couple with a counseling ministry was invited to speak one day on family and marital issues faced by missionaries on the field. Missionary kids were delighted to make and renew friendships with others who understand what it means to live between cultures, not quite at home anywhere. Sharing successes and failures, laughter and tears, we all came away with a deep sense of gratitude toward God to be part of the World Missions Ministries team, working together for his Kingdom in Asia. The meeting in Chiang Mai was paid for by the GO offering.

In January, I presided at the annual Indian pastors’ conferences held in Ranchi, Giridih, Dumka and Hyderabad. In my address to the pastors, I informed them of events and activities taking place among their IPHC family in the US and other parts of Asia. I delivered messages of encouragement, met with missionaries and conference leaders, dealt with several situations and business issues, and even took part in engagement ceremonies for the son and daughter of our national leader.

Immediately after the India visit, I stopped in Singapore to meet with RMC’s Jeff Willhoite and Tim Salley. We met to discuss circumstances on the field, plus plan sessions to consider events and strategies for the year ahead and beyond. All of this ministry took place because of the Global Outreach offering, which funds the visits I make as OMC to oversee and assist with ministry throughout Asia.

Global Outreach is the annual IPHC offering to reach the nations. 75% of the GO offering is disbursed by World Missions Ministries to missionaries and national workers for ministry projects, churches, outreaches, developing new works, and promotion. 25% of the GO offering is used by Evangelism USA to plant and develop churches in America. Your continued partnership in this vital offering is appreciated!

At each gathering, the Global Outreach program for funding World Missions was presented. The pastors were reminded of how their own nation had benefitted from missionaries and mission projects funded by Global Outreach offerings collected in the US.

Global Outreach has now gone truly global, as churches and conferences around the world are being challenged to participate in this missions offering.

In a remote village in southern Uganda, a pastor prays.

It is Sunday morning and the church gathers. They gather, waiting to see what God will do.

As the pastor prays, the heavens open and the rain begins – not spiritual rain, but real water falling from the sky. The rain falls so hard at times that the pastor’s voice can’t be heard. Soaked to the bone and now standing in mud, the church waits. Some run for cover, others stand waiting, waiting to see what their God will do.

As the rain stops, the church members return to their seats and the people of the village return to their work. They walk down the path next to the church, looking at the rain-soaked pastor and his followers, who are now singing and dancing. The people of the village laugh and make jokes of the worship: “Is this the best your God can do? Your all-powerful God is just watching you stomp in the mud. He doesn’t care about you.”

The same Sunday morning, 10,000 miles away, another pastor prays. In his mind are the needs of missionaries and the people they serve. He wonders what he and his church could do. What they have is like a drop in a bucket compared to the needs. Is there even a point in trying? Yet he cannot get the needs out of his mind.

This is not a parable; this story really happened. The Sulphur PH Church prayed for a missions opportunity while the church in Uganda prayed for God to move. The pastor contacted missionaries Mike and Lori Reed, who shared the need in Uganda. The Sulphur PH Church raised enough money to purchase property and construct a building. Today, the small 19’x54’ pole barn church has around 200 attending on Sunday and 175 children attending primary school. Now people walk by and say, “It is amazing what your God can do.”

Your Global Outreach offering helps accomplish similar projects around the world, building houses of worship, purchasing tents, and providing building supplies for churches. Yet they are more than buildings; they are symbols of hope. They are physical reminders that God cares, that He will provide for every need. God is building His church - a body of people who will stand for him – through building projects.
Our God is able to do exceedingly more than we can ask or imagine. He took one small church’s offering – a “drop in the bucket” – and used it to rain down blessings on a church in Uganda. Imagine what he can do with your offering!
