City-owned Sony Centre for the Performing Arts, closed for renovations since last June, now faces an unexpected delay in reopening, officials have confirmed.Earlier plans to resume operations in January, 2010, ''will be a challenge and I would say now second quarter of 2010,'' Sony Centre CEO Dan Brambilla said.

Tiffin joins Ship's Company Theatre as artistic director

Nova Scotia's Ship's Company Theatre has announced Matthew Tiffin as its next artistic producer.Tiffin, who is from Ottawa, takes over as artistic producer from Pamela Halstead in November.

Phantom sequel to debut in London

That Phantom is one fickle fellow. After news leaked out in March that Love Never Dies, the long-awaited sequel to Andrew Lloyd Webber's blockbuster stage musical The Phantom of the Opera, might make its world premiere tryout in Toronto this fall, the composer told a press conference for the Eurovision Song Contest over the weekend that the show will debut in London next March, with a parallel Broadway production to hit the boards by early May, 2010.
