1st grade Water lilies  The 1st graders are learning about Claude Monet.

We are busy working on our projects for the GM art show.  Each grade level will be creating artwork that will be framed and displayed for all to see.  Parents will have the opportunity to pay their child's artwork framed if they would like all the money raised goes back into our school.

Some grade levels have already finished their artwork and are moving on to new projects.  We will all be working with the Elements of art - form, texture, and value.

Dear Parents,

I just wanted to let you know that, as a gala auction item, Ms. Haas and I are offering "Monster Mini Golf."

This will be for the auction winner plus 3 guests. Approximately 2 hours of fun golfing.  Special treat included.  Date and time to be worked out between teachers and parents.

The Gala Auction will be held February 4, 2012 at Olde Towne Athletic Club from 7 to 11 PM. Tickets are on sale at http://gmefoundation.org - $35 and $45 at the door or you can Download 2012GALATicketformto purchase tickets in advance. Visit the website for a sample of items to bid on. All proceeds go back to GMEF.

The proceeds will be used to improve our school by providing funding for programs such as technology, educational curriculum and facility improvements. The GMEF will accumulate and distribute resources beyond those provided by Cobb County or the PTA, in order to further enhance, foster and enrich the educational experiences of all students at Garrison Mill.

learn about focuses on a different Element of art and they are learning new vocabulary that relates to that specific Element they are learning.  Please, take the time to ask your child about what they are doing in art class.  This will help them learn to use the vocabulary and reinforces the steps of the lesson.

The students of Garrison Mill are staying busy in the art room.  We are focusing on the simple Elements of art - line and shape.  Each grade level is working with these Elements in a new an interesting way.  Please, talk to your child about what they are doing in their art class.

Square 1 art order forms will be coming home in the next few weeks.  Each child will receive a full sheet of stickers that has their own artwork on it and are theirs to keep free of charge.  If you do choose to purchase something from the Square 1art, thank you so much because a percentage of your purchase helps in the art room.

Wow the year has started off great.  We have already completed our first project and started on our Square One art project.  The kids are really excited about showing off their talents off on the paper.  Information will be coming home with your students later in the year about Square one art.
