Struggles Without Struggling

Scripture reading: Daniel 6:10-23

God makes a world of difference between His people and those who defy and deny Him. He makes a difference between those who are obedient to His Word and those who scoffat His Word.

When Daniel was thrown into the lions’ den, no manner of hurt was done to him.

When Daniels’ enemies were thrown into the same den with the same lions, there was a marked difference. The lions broke the bones of those enemies before thier bodies reached the bottom of the pit.

The same was true of the fire that burned in the furnace of Nebuchednezzar. The furnace was heated so hot that the enemies who threw Shadrach, Meshack, and Abednego into the furnace were slain by the intense heat even as they stood outside. The three Hebrew men who served and trusted God not only survived the furnace experience, but thier bonds were burned off and the ungodly saw them walking about with the Son of God in the midst of the furnace. These men were prepared for whatever came upon them and I believe they did not feel the intense heat at all.

That is why I believe it is possible to go through struggles without struggling! There are many, many folks right now who are going through trials – family upheavals, broken relationships, loneliness, depression, financial problems, ilness and much more. God wants to make a difference, He will meet you right now at the depths of your deepest pit, in the heat of your hottest furnace, in your desperate circumstances.

God can give you such peace in your heart that the fire of your circumstances will not touch you. The lions’ mouth will be completely shut. Nothing shall hurt you.

There is only one thing in this world that is infallible and that is the Word of God, the Word is incapable of error, unable to mislead or deceive. Our experience must to be tied to that Word so that we will not be shaken. We can then give testimony to the power and glory of Jesus Christ in our troubled times.

Make this declaration: “I am fixing my hope on the Word of God so that I will not be shaken. I will stand as a testimony to the power and glory of Jesus Christ in these difficult days.”

Stand on the living Word of God to sustain and bring you through.

Gloucester Council backs down after Christian group stopped from sharing faith

Gloucester City Council has issued an apology after stopping a Christian group from handing out Christian literature in the city centre.

The apology was issued following the threat of legal action from the Christian Legal Centre, after a group of Christians were stopped from distributing Christian booklets in the town’s city centre in July.

David Cameron – Not ashamed of the cross?

Prime Minister David Cameron has told MPs that Christians should have the right to wear a cross at work, yet this is not what the Government is saying to the European Court.
The Government has intervened against the two Christians whose cases are before the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) over the right to wear a cross. The Government has told the ECHR that their employers had every right to discipline them.Send postcard and contact your MP here >

WHAT IS TU B’AV?
Today, Friday, August 3rd, we celebrate Tu B’Av.
Modern definitions of this holiday describe it as the Jewish version of Valentine’s Day; however, these are somewhat simplistic definitions of a special time during the Jewish year. Defining it as such overlooks many of the broader reasons why Tu B’Av should be celebrated.
There is no way of knowing exactly when Tu B’Av began. First mentioned in the Talmud by Rabban Shimon Ben Gamliel, it was considered a festive day on which restrictions on male and female associating was lifted and young people were given to thinking about love and focus on searching their soul mate.
ABOUT TWOSOMES AND TU B’AV
Tu B’Av is an ancient celebration of love which helps us move from a period of mourning to thinking about new beginnings.
In a more personal sense, Tu B’Av is a most favorable time for matchmaking. This was true even when the Second Temple was standing. Each year on that day, as Rabban Gamliel tells us, the single women of Jerusalem would go out dressed in borrowed white dresses and dance in the vineyards. They were followed by young single men who were looking for a wife.
Though there is no doubt the day was a festive day filled with feelings of love, attraction and sensuality, one can find that the women called and warned the men to choose their wives wisely – not by sight but by family.
King Solomon writes: “Favor is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that fears the Lord, she will be praised”. (Proverbs 31:30).
In order to make it harder for the men to be fooled by appearances, all the women were dressed in borrowed white dresses, so that the men would not be able to tell who is rich and who is poor thus choose a woman based on her merits.
A LITTLE ABOUT THE NAME TU B’AV
“Tu” is a representation of the Hebrew letters Tet ( ט – The ninth letter of the Hebrew alphabet) and Vav (ו – The sixth letter of the Hebrew alphabet). Joining their numerical value together you get 9+6=15 and that is what “Tu” stands for, i.e. 15th of the Hebrew month of Av.
_Anecdote: Don’t you think it is nice that “Tu” sounds very much like “Two” and that “Tu B’Av” is a favorable time for finding one’s soul
mate and cherishing your significant other? _
TU B’AV AND THE DAY OF ATONEMENT?
“Israel had no holidays as joyous as Tu B’av and Yom Kippur, when young women of Jerusalem would go out and dance in the vineyards”, writes Rabban Gamliel. (Talmud, Ta’anit 26b)
How can anyone associate the culmination of prayer and remorseful mood of Yom Kippur (the Day of Atonement) to Tu B’Av? Why are those holidays even related?
It is easier to understand why Yom Kippur can be considered a joyous holiday. On that day forgiveness was granted to all of Israel [for the sin of the Golden calf] and the second tablets bearing the Ten Commandments were given. But what is so great about the 15th of Av? What’s the similarity between the two?
Yom Kippur is the day when we renew our commitment to G-d and reunite with Him after atoning and being forgiven. Tu B’Av is about reunification of the People and renewal of earthly ties. We forgive each other and accept our differences while remembering that we are all sons and daughters of our Father. And so, a unification and renewal of commitment takes place in heaven and on earth.
SIX EVENTS, SIX DAYS – CREATION AND NEW BEGINNINGS
Tu B’Av occurs exactly _six days_ after Tisha B’Av .
Albeit the little attention it receives in comparison to other Jewish holidays such as Rosh Ha’Shana, Purim or Passover; Tu B’Av is perceived as THE most joyous day of the Jewish calendar.
It marks the anniversary of _six historic events_ associated with love and unity among different segments of Israel. It also signifies a deep connection between Israel and the Holy Temple.
Those six events, much like the swing of a returning pendulum, mark the reversal of tragedies which befell the Jewish People and reinforce the promise of salvation.
Six days lead from Tisha B’Av’s mourning of the destruction of the Holy Temple to Tu B’Av’s renewal and reunification with the Lord.
Six days. It is also the exact amount of time it took G-d to create the entire world -from chaos to realized order.
Isn’t that curious?
TIME TO UNITE
Love can come in all shapes and sizes and the heart is a muscle that can grow. Let this Tu B’Av be a time when we set our differences aside. Let us unite and come together; find our common grounds. Let us cherish our loved ones and remember that love is an active concept. We should practice it each and every day.

The God who answers by FIRE is God… This weekend, our Ayrshire L&L team led a small outreach into an alternative health fair in West Kilbride. The event attracted people (& stalls) from all different faiths and backgrounds, including: tarot card readers, mediums, psychics, wiccans, reiki healers, and others. Our team set up a stall offering free Christian prayer and ministry, and had some incredible encounters. Twelve people were saved, including a reiki practitioner and a number of other stall holders.Some of them couldn’t wait to come into the Kingdom, and revisited the stall up to three times, badgering the volunteers to show them how they too could be saved! COME ON! In the last week, we’ve also seen hungry people trained up in prophetic evangelism from: Livingston, Dumfries, Gatehouse of Fleet, Newton Stewart and Stranraer – all keen to see revival fires lit in their own communities. Our God is continuing to pour out His Spirit on the nation(s) and His Tsunami waves of love, power and glory are becoming unstoppable. We are called to bring God’s Kingdom to the spheres of influence that we operate in, yet a myth that holds many of us back is that only a few special people can make a real difference. Many of us disqualify ourselves by believing we’re not good enough, not spiritual enough, not qualified enough, too old, too young, have the wrong background, or that God has someone much more suitable in mind. Yet our God delights in taking the most ordinary of people and partnering with us to do the most extraordinary things. King David worked with a bunch of nobodies and changed them into mighty warriors. Jesus worked with ordinary folk and turned them into world changers. He’s still doing it today… In this season, God is not raising up ‘super-celebrities’, but a nameless, faceless, generation of people who live to make our amazing Jesus famous – through love, signs, wonders and miracles.

This outpouring is a given;
Increasing levels of prophecy is a given;
Increasing signs, wonders and miracles is a given.

The uncertain bit is our hearts. We’re invited to partner with God to see the spiritual landscape of our nation(s) changed. How will we respond? This week, I’d like to highlight two special events that we’re running: (1) A Creative Evangelism Evening – Tues 12^th June (7:30 to 10pm), Whiteinch Transformation Centre, Inchlee St, Glasgow; and (2) A School of Creative Art – Sat 16^th June (10 till 4pm), Whiteinch Transformation Centre, Inchlee St, Glasgow. The Creative Evangelism Evening will be an interactive time of worship, fun and creativity, where you can learn to share God’s love with others through extended workshops on: prophecy, healing, dream interpretation, prophetic art, personality styles and massage. We will also have a workshop where you can learn to bring colour and life to community events and summer outreaches through simple balloon sculpting techniques. Regardless of your level of skill, or experience, if you’d like to learn how to share God’s love more effectively through any of the above options, then this evening is for you. Opportunities for one-on-one mentoring, feedback and personal ministry. Entrance is FREE, and an offering will be taken. Spaces for this event are limited and booking is essential. Don’t miss out! Our Creative Art Schoolwill be led by Linette Penney-Gainham. This is a unique opportunity for taking your prophetic art skills up to the next level. It is highly recommended for volunteers who have previously helped out on our art stalls (or for those who would like to do so in the future). Topics will include:

Art and Worship – the connection between sound and colour;
Art and Healing – how God uses art to heal; and
Art and Evangelism – beyond sketches; new ways to convey the love of God.

WALKING IN VICTORY

Psalm 98: 1 – 9

1) Sing a new song to the Lord, for he has done wonderful deeds.

His right hand has won a mighty victory; his holy arm has shown his saving power!

2) The Lord has announced his victory and has revealed his righteousness to every nation!

3) He has remembered his promise to love and be faithful to Israel.

The ends of the earth have seen the victory of our God.

4) Shout to the Lord, all the earth; break out in praise and sing for joy!

5) Sing your praise to the Lord with the harp. With the harp and melodious song,

6) with trumpets and the sound of ram’s horn. Make a joyful symphony before the Lord, The King!

7) Let the sea and everything in it shout his praise! Let the earth and all living things join in.

8) Let the rivers clap their hands in glee! Let the hills sing out thier songs before the Lord.

9) For the Lord is coming to judge the earth. He will judge the world with justice,

and the nations with fairness.

You can either set your mind for victory or defeat. If you are continually thinking failure and defeat, you are going to be defeated. If you have your mind set and your thoughts fixed on the victory Christ has made possible for you, you will be victorious. ‘ For as he thinketh in his heart, so is be…(Proverbs 23:7).

Take authority, in the power of the Holy Spirit, over the power of the enemy and reject every thought he tries to plant in your mind. Every time satan tries to attack your mind, tell him:

“Satan, you are a liar! You no longer have control over me. You have no cotrol over my mind, thoughts, will or emotion. God has not given me a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind”.

Gird up the loins of your mind, strengthen your mind for battle, and walk in the victory God has provided for you!

Make this declaration: Satan, you are a liar! You no longer have control over me. You have no control over my mind, thoughts, will, or emotions. God has not given me a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind.”

Let Jesus be the Lord of the way you feel today!

Miracles do happen when God is involved!

And the deaf shall hear…!On Saturday, a lady came to one of our events (in Oban) with Meniere’s disease – a condition that causes tinnitus, deafness and vertigo. The poor woman had suffered deafness in one of her ears for a considerable time. Furthermore, the ringing in her ear had affected her sleep and quality of life. As our volunteers prayed for her, her ear simply ‘popped open’, the ringing stopped, and she could hear again! Another lady had found it difficult to walk without experiencing considerable pain in the arches of her feet. We simply laid hands on her, commanded her feet to be healed in Jesus’ name…, and they were. These are just two, short, ‘fresh-bread’ stories of what our awesome God did in Scotland on Saturday. He did much, much, more. Many people received healing (physical and emotional) and many were brought closer to Him, as Heaven (once again) invaded earth. Did you know…

“the created earth can hardly wait for what is coming next…” (Rom 8:19; The Message).

Neither can I…! The world is experiencing the most phenomenal move of God it has ever seen. And our awesome God, after searching the very corridors of eternity, decided we should be placed in this very dispensation of time! COME ON…! COME ON JESUS!!!!!! Awesome weekend, watching our amazing Jesus at work in the lives of so many precious people. On Friday evening we held our first outreach in Kilwinning (birth place of the masonic order in Scotland), and on Saturday we had our first Light & Life fair in Oban (‘The Gateway to the Scottish Isles’). Both were strategic, and the Presence of God fell heavily. Our teams of volunteers (mostly local people) were run off their feet, ministering to one person, after another; bringing each into an encounter with the Living God. In the midst of the crowds, my spirit soared with joy as I saw what has happening… God’s lost kids pouring into the venues – desperate to find Him, and His Body rising up together – a formidable army, joining ranks, so His love could be shared with every single, hungry, person who came along. For many of these volunteers, this was their first outreach. As I spoke with some of them afterwards, I was bombarded with phrases like: ‘It was amazing!’; ‘Fantastic!’, ‘God actually gave me stuff to share!’ ‘The Presence of God was so strong!’ ‘When’s the next one…!’ As our volunteers (ordinary folk), stepped out, our amazing God came through. His river flowed, bringing life and healing. Seven people asked Jesus into their lives for the first time, and several others recommitted their lives to Him, many people were healed and scores of folk left with a very different perception of who God is, and of how relevant and powerful He is today. Here’s a comment from one of our enthusiastic volunteers… ‘It’s been fantastic! We’ve seen arthritis totally go, we’ve seen knees get totally healed, all the pain left. We saw a lady that had a back problem for years get healed, she got up and had no pain at all, but my favourite story was a lady that had arthritis in her hand – when we looked we saw that her thumb was wrongly aligned, and she said ‘it’s always been like that!’ So we prayed and she felt it change, and now she can move it around and there’s no problem with it anymore… WOW! Let’s put the ‘WOW!’ back into our spiritual journey. Our God is awesome. He’s the lifter of our heads, the One who brings us out of the pit and puts us on His rock. Whatever you’re facing this week – you’re not alone. Our God is Greater, Stronger, Higher, He’s our Healer and He’s Awesome in Power. “Lord Jesus, You are so worthy to be praised!” In His awesome love

Update on the ‘40:10’ Project (by Ruth)
In our last newsletter we launched a support initiative called the 40:10 Project, where we asked for 40 individuals (or organisations) to stand with us by giving £10 support (or more) per month to help Barbara and her family remain in ministry. So far, we’ve had 11 responses – Thank you! What a great start. This means there are just 29 spaces left. Did you know the number ‘40’ represents a period of grace leading to revival and renewal? Did you know that it was on the 40^th day that David killed Goliath (after Goliath had taunted the Israelites for 39 days)? Scripture is full of named individuals who stood alongside others to see incredible victories – for example, David’s mighty men are named, honoured and celebrated.

Remembering Israel’s Soldiers and

Celebrating Israel’s Independence

Yom HaZikaron, Remembrance Day, is the day on which Israel honors its fallen servicemen and women. The remembrance begins in the evening at 8 pm with the sounding of the air raid siren all over Israel for one minute. The following morning at 11 am the siren sounds again for 2 minutes. During both of these times everything in Israel stops as Israelis remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for Israel.

After the evening siren is the national memorial service at the Western Wall in Jerusalem. Here prayers are said for the soldiers and the Israeli flag is lowered to half-staff. Israel’s political and military leadership lead the country in honoring the fallen. At the same time communities across Israel hold ceremonies to honor the fallen from those communities.

The next morning following the morning siren ceremonies are held at each cemetery where soldiers who died in action are buried. During the entirety of Yom HaZikaron Israeli television stations and radio stations either stop broadcasting or only broadcast programs honoring the fallen soldiers. One of the national television stations broadcasts a program with a brief story about each soldier who gave his or her life for Israel. Sadly, the list gets longer each Remembrance Day.

Yom HaZikaron draws to a close with an official ceremony on Mount Herzl. The Israeli flag is raised to full-staff and a second national holiday, Yom HaAtzamaut, begins. Yom HaAtzamaut is Israeli Independence Day and in contrast of the previous day of mourning, a day of celebration. In communities across Israel there are parties with Israeli folk dancing, food, musical shows, performances by children and fireworks. The following day is a national holiday so businesses and government offices are closed. Families spend time together having picnics and barbeques and enjoying the nature of Israel. IDF bases are open for tours and there are patriotic parades. Yom HaAtzamaut closes with the final official ceremony of the holidays with the awarding the Israel Prize. This is the highest award in Israel and it recognizes achievement and contribution to Israel’s culture, science, arts and humanities.

You may have noticed that in Israel Independence Day directly follows Remembrance Day. This deliberate scheduling is intended to remind all citizens of the price of independence and freedom. In Israel there is national conscription, therefore, nearly all citizens have served in the IDF. Being a small country, almost everyone knows a soldier or family of a soldier who sacrificed his or her life for Israel. We owe our country to those who gave their lives defending her.
