<p>When you eat protein it requires more calories to digest than fruit and vegetables. Beans are good, as they also contain fiber, and like protein, fiber takes more time to digest, and leaves you feeling fuller longer, so you don&#8217;t feel a need to eat so much. Be careful what type of beans you eat though. Baked beans might be tasty, but some brands contain huge amounts of sugar.</p>

<p>Eggs are a good source of protein, but some sources recommend that you don&#8217;t eat too many eggs, because of the cholesterol content &#8211; no more than one a day.</p>
<p>Although fat in general has a bad name these days, not all fats are bad, and some can actually boost your metabolism. Avocados are a good source of good fat, and so is olive oil, because it helps regulate cholesterol.</p>
<p>Almonds contain good fats, the mono saturated kind, and are also a good source of protein.</p>
<p>Raw fruit and vegetables are good to eat also, as the enzymes they contain helps your body to rid itself of some of that belly fat.</p>

We&#8217;re eating over 200 calories more each day, most of which come from carbs. We are also eating more meat, although most of that is actually leaner than it used to be, so the calorie contribution to the average diet has gone down.</p>
<p>We&#8217;re taking in about 100 calories more in sweeteners each day on average, and High Fructose Corn Syrup has about half of that.</p>
<p>We drink less regular whole milk, and more reduced fat, and fat-free milk.</p>
<p>We consume a lot more oil, particularly vegetable oil, than we were back in the 1970&#8242;s. Mostly corn, and soybean and canola oils.</p>
<p>The increase in obesity has come about because we eat a lot more wheat; increased sweeteners, and processed oils instead of fat from meat.</p>

<p>Lots of folks claim that Coca-Cola is addictive.  Rumors of addictive substances within it have done the rounds for years.</p>

<p>However, it&#8217;s really the huge amounts of sugar and caffeine in it which make you want to drink more.</p>
<p>Mind you, when it was first produced in 1894 it did contain cocaine &#8211; derived from the coca leaves that were used to flavor the syrup.</p>
<p>It was removed from the recipe in 1903.</p>

<p>Diet soda itself is not the cause of any major health issues but the low-calorie sweetener aspartame, which many diet sodas contain, has been the subject of much debate.</p>
<p>The U.S. Senate even investigated the claims in a November 1987 hearing.</p>
<p>One study conducted by the Department of Emergency Medicine at Klina General Hospital, Belgium, found that excessive intake of diet soda can result in an increased risk for epileptic seizure. The study suggests that the convulsions related to the beverage are a consequence of high doses of aspartame and caffeine from the diet soda.</p>
<p>In another study conducted at the IWK Children&#8217;s Hospital, in Nova Scotia, Canada, the EEGs of children who consumed aspartame showed an increase in spike wave discharge-a type of brain activity that is a possible indication of an area that produce a seizure.</p>
<p>The FDA maintains that the link is nonexistent. Until the controversy is settled, it&#8217;s smart to drink diet soda in moderation.</p>

<p>When many of us think of chilli, we probably see a plate of chilli cheese fries, However, here we&#8217;re looking at turkey chilli. Ground turkey is usually cheaper, and is a lot leaner than ground beef.</p>
<p>Ingredients:</p>
<ul>
<li>1 lb Ground turkey</li>
<li>1 15oz Can  diced tomatoes</li>
<li>1 15oz Can black beans</li>
<li>1 15oz Can red beans</li>
<li>1`Green bell pepper</li>
<li>2 cup Brown rice</li>
<li>1 medium yellow Onion</li>
</ul>
<p>This makes five servings, so you can freeze some for another day, if there is only you for lunch.</p>
<p>Total: $2.15/serving</p>
<p>Recipe:<br />
In a large pot, sauté 1 yellow onion, 2 tablespoons of minced garlic, and 1 bell pepper.<br />
Once onions are soft, add 1lb of ground turkey and 1 teaspoon each of dried parsley, dried basil, and dried oregano.<br />
After the turkey is browned, combine 1 can diced tomatoes, 1 can black beans, and 1 can red beans with 2 tablespoons of paprika, 2 teaspoons ground cumin, and 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper.</p>
<p>Simmer for 30 minutes to and hour.</p>
<p>Add brown rice.</p>

<p>How many times have you heard that said, if you or someone around you is about to burst a blood vessel, and lose control of their temper, or if they can feel the stress levels rising up?</p>
<p>There&#8217;s a lot of truth in it actually.</p>
<p>You see, when you&#8217;re under stress, your breathing is shallow. If you breath deeply it tells your mind and body that it&#8217;s OK and you can calm down. Your brain gets more oxygen, your heart rate drops, your muscles relax.</p>
<p>Try it now if you like. Sit up straight, Breath out through your mouth. Breath in through your nose, with your mouth closed. Hold your breath and count six. Exhale through your open mouth. Repeat three or four times.</p>
