Amazing Ad Campaign of the Day: To creatively demonstrate their sound engineering capabilities, GGRP Sound sent out a mess of cardboard record players — designed by GREY of Canada — to creative directors across North America.

The cardboard record player is exactly what it sounds like: A record player made from corrugated cardboard:

Once assembled, a record can be spun on the player with a pencil. The vibrations go through the needle and are amplified in the cardboard material.

I don’t know much, but I do know this: Every single last record should come wrapped inside a cardboard record player.

Song Buskers- Everybody's Working For the Weekend (Loverboy Acoustic Cover):

In this installment of Song Buskers, Jordan and John from The Gorgeous Hussies cover Loverboy’s hit single from their 1981 release ‘Get Lucky.’ The arena rock staple, 'Everybody’s Working For the Weekend,’ which like grad student at midterms had way more pop in it than they were used to, generated a lot of interest in the multi-platinum releasing band. Loverboy released both the song and the album while on tour opening for Journey.
This weeks suggestion was sent in by Emily of Colorado Springs, CO.

Thought I’d share this cool graphic. It shows the progression of “rock music” since the 60’s and shows the time line where genres cross and splinter off… all in the form of a metro railway. It’s interesting to see what bands are considered the “original” creators of sub-genres. Sonic Youth, The Beatles, The Who, Deep Purple. Also funny to see that a lot of the “alternative” and “emo” bands over the past 15 years, or so, don’t really have starting points. They sorta just meld and and appear like mutts.
