Greetings, dear residents of Barangay Kingking and friends! The much-awaited Nutrition Month celebration is in full swing, and this year's festivities have been incredibly creative and exciting. Among the various engaging activities, the Poster Making and On-the-Spot Painting Competition took center stage, inspiring young minds to showcase their talents and advocate for a healthier and more affordable diet for all.

With the theme "Healthy Diet Gawing Affordable for All," the competition aimed to raise awareness about the importance of making nutritious food options accessible to everyone, especially in our barangay. The event brought together passionate students from different schools within our community, each determined to express their unique perspectives through art.

The competition was held at barangay hall, and the atmosphere was vibrant and buzzing with energy. The participants, one representative per school, arrived with their colors, drawing boards, paintbrushes, canvases, and boundless creativity. The event not only encouraged artistic expression but also instilled the value of proper nutrition and health in our youth.

The young artists skillfully depicted their visions of a healthier and more affordable diet for all through their artwork. The posters and paintings featured an array of colorful fruits and vegetables, each one representing the diversity of our local produce and the richness of our land. Additionally, some artworks depicted creative ways to reduce food waste, promote sustainable practices, and encourage community gardens to help supplement household nutrition.

Judging the competition was no easy task, as every artwork demonstrated the passion and dedication of these young artists to make a positive impact on their community. Our esteemed panel of judges, composed of local artists, carefully deliberated to select the winners based on creativity, relevance to the theme, and overall artistic presentation.

As the event drew to a close, the excitement peaked as the winners were announced. I painted him because I'm a fan of the The Chosen - the first-ever-multi-season TV show about the life of Jesus. Created outside of the Hollywood system, It was created, directed and co-written by American filmmaker Dallas Jenkins. Season one was the highest crowd-funded media project of all time.The series' creators stated that they had hoped to distinguish the new series from previous portrayals of Jesus by crafting a multi-season, episode-based story. The Chosen allows us to see Him through the eyes of those who knew him.

TIPS:

Do the sketch using grid-lines.

Once done, erase all the grid-lines for a neat result.

(I didn't erase all the lines since I will cover it with black paint later.)

Start painting. Focus on mid-tone and lighter tone first.

For a better result, double coat. Always apply 2nd layer of the color you are using.

Lastly, apply the final touch. The touch of love in what you are doing.

How to know if watermelon seeds are still viable? When properly stored in a cool, dry place, seed's shelf life can be extended. Yet, even then, there is no guarantee that your watermelon seeds will still be productive for the next planting season. The easiest way to test your watermelon seeds' viability is by using one of the most common ways -the water test or the float test.

Procedure:

1. Take your watermelon seeds and put them in a glass of water.

2. Stir it and let your watermelon seeds sit for about 15 minutes.

Then if the watermelon seeds sink, they are still viable; if the watermelon seeds float, they most likely will not sprout.

The most challenging birthday tarpaulin layout that often encounters a layout artists is when the picture the client gives you is blurred and/or needs to be cleaned, as is the picture below.

You need to bring out your creativity to meet the desired results of your clients in your birthday tarpaulin layout.

After you have cleaned up and improved the picture, you'll also see what colors are best suited to it when you've put it throughout your birthday tarpaulin layout. You also need to gather the necessary images for your birthday tarpaulin layout. And think about what dominant color you will use.

The composition is also important. This is how you arrange your elements in the same frame. You should look at which of these are the first to notice by the viewer.

And finally, use your artistic skills. Feel the way you do so the viewer’s feel more about what you want to indicate on your birthday layout no matter what occasion it will use.

As requested by a friend, I made this Baby Shark Theme design for tarpaulin. (Please forgive me for the delays.)

According to Wikipedia, "Baby Shark" is a Korean nursery song about a family of sharks produced by Pinkfong, an education brand under South Korean media startup SmartStudy, which became a viral video in Indonesia. The song has since spread to many other countries, particularly in Southeast Asia. By October 2017, the "Baby Shark" song series received over a billion views (and counting) worldwide, and the mobile app is among the top 10 most downloaded in the family apps category in South Korea, Bangladesh, Singapore, Hong Kong and Indonesia. While the song is designated for children, it has also been known to be popular among adults due to its addictive and upbeat music, simple and fun lyrics, as well as entertaining dance moves. Due to its popularity, it has spurred an online dance craze (or referred to as Baby Shark Challenge) around the world, while being cited as "the next big thing after the domination of Gangnam Style". K-pop groups including Girls' Generation, Red Velvet and Black Pink have been credited to further spread the viral song through their coverage of the song and dance, specifically on their featured TV shows and concerts.

Historically, songs named Baby Shark have been around for a long time. In a 2007 book on American band camps, it was mentioned. In 2011 both Johnny Oh and The Learning Station released versions on YouTube that were less gruesome than earlier versions and aimed at younger children. The Learning Station also included "Baby Shark" on its #1 Best Kids song CD in 2011.

Cape San Agustin is the most southeasterly point in the Philippines situated in the island of Mindanao, between the capital City of Mati and the coastal town of Governor Generoso in Davao Oriental, facing the vast raging waters of Celebes Sea on the south and the calm waters of Davao Gulf on the west. Known of old as "Provincia de Caraga, 1609," which stretches from the Cape of Surigao in the north-end, and down to the Cape of San Agustin, it was considered a most important strategic navigational demarcation during the Spanish colonial era. The area was also of strategic importance for the Americans and Japanese in World War II where both forces had radar installations near the Cape. Cape San Agustin was a favorite hunting ground by American submarines in WWII, and many Japanese shipwrecks are reputed to lie in this area.

Steps on Preparing Positive Image and Exposing Emulsion to Sunlight

START HERE!

Step 3: Prepare your image

The emulsion on your screen is photosensitive; when it’s exposed to light, the emulsion hardens onto the fabric and becomes water-resistant. So, to put your image on the screen, make a “positive” with an opaque, black image on it (blocks light) and a transparent background that lets light get through to react with the photo emulsion.

An easy way to do this is to make a black and white image using Adobe Photoshop CS6 or CorelDraw X7, print it on a bondpaper.

More ideas:

It’s even possible to make a “grayscale” screen print, where solid black areas on your printed image end up entirely clear on your screen, and gray areas are a pattern of tiny black dots that become tiny clear spaces on your screen. To do this, you’ll still need to start with a fairly high-contrast black and white image, then convert it to bitmap. A resolution test pattern (like this classic RCA test pattern) helps with calibration and makes a neat screen printed image by itself, too.

Since both of your screen and image are ready, it's time for the next step.

Step 5: Expose it then rinse

If you already have an exposure box, you can use it in this step. Those who doesn't know what exposure box is ― it is a light box or light table, with several fluorescent bulbs set directly under a glass, allows for simpler set-up and shorter exposure times, but may take some experimentation to figure out what the correct exposure time should be. Depending on what light intensity you have coming out of the light box, your exposure time could be around 6 or 7 minutes.

But in this tutorial, since not everyone has an exposure box, we will do the old way ― the direct to sunlight exposure.

Exposing Emulsion to Direct Sunlight Setup:

Before taking your completely-dry screen out, get the rest of your exposure rig put together.

You'll need:

a sheet of glass to cover the screen, foams and a hard board

of course, your image

(note: to obtain a transparent background,

spread cooking oil using a cotton, if printed on a bond paper)

Put the foams under the screen,

We are going to set the screen with the bottom side facing up.

Lay your image and the glass on top of that, make sure to place your image backward, facing the screen and against the glass, so that it is in correct position when you look at the bottom side of the screen. This is especially important for text and numbers.

and lastly put the hard board at the bottom.

Now, find a good spot outside for your direct-to-sunlight exposure.

The exposure time? Just 1... 2... 3... 4... and that's it!

Now the exposure is done, remove the glass, the pattern, the foams and the hard board, then rinse the screen.

Spray the screen using the Pump up Hand Held Pressure Sprayer. As you spray, you’ll see clear areas developing where your images blocked the exposure light; concentrate your spraying on those areas. Hold the screen up to the light; the mesh of the screen fabric should be entirely clear and open in your image areas. If it’s not, keep on spraying.

Once done spraying, let it dry completely.

Apply Photo Hardener on your fully-dried screen. This will add hardness to the photo-emulsion applied on screen.

Now, your screen is ready to be use.

Simple Steps on How to Apply Photo-emulsion on Silk Screen

START HERE!

Step 2: Apply it to the Screen

First – Be sure to clean the area to avoid your project getting filthy because this step needs extra careful and should be relatively clean.

You can use a piece of old sim card body to substitute squeegee, as long as it is wide, straight, smooth edge for spreading.

Cover the edge part of the frame using a masking tape to secure the photo-emulsion and to avoid it from spilling.

Pour out a thick line of emulsion across one end of the screen (over the masking tape).

Using the old sim card spread it evenly over the whole screen, making a thin layer. Always check for pin holes and cover it by spreading the photo-emulsion repeatedly. Repeat this process until you have a thin, even layer of emulsion covering the entire screen.

Now, your frame is ready and all you need is to make it clean by wiping the excess emulsion.

Once you’re done, set your screen in a shaded room, (putting it in a dark place is not necessary)

and blow it dry using hair dryer.

It's done. Put your frame in the shaded area and cover it with dark cloth.

Easiest Way to Learn Photo-Emulsion Silk Screen Printing

To answer your question on, how do I print a heap of t-shirts and school uniform patches fast? Here’s how I did it.

Like other online screen printing tutorials, the process is almost the same; like in ways on the preparation and on how to screen print except for the strategies and components used. Anyway, I will try to share with you my knowledge on this in the simplest way. I will share with you my ideas from stretching fine-mesh cloth over a wooden frame, preparing your image using image editor and how to use grayscale which is remarkable for printing more than 2 or a complicated-color-text or image design, how to properly set inks and many more.

The overall hint:

Once stretching fine-mesh cloth over a wooden frame is done, just spread a thin layer of photosensitive emulsion on the screen and let it dry using a hair dryer (optional).

Prepare your pattern (a black image on transparent or translucent surface), lay it on the screen, and then expose the screen to light. The light will make the emulsion harden and tie up to the fabric. When the light hit the screen, the emulsion will bind, makes it a solid layer but when the light is blocked the emulsion thaw. When the screen exposed, just spray it with water, the clear area of the screen is where ink will be pressed through the screen during print. Let the screen dry. Once the screen dried up, apply photo hardener. Lastly, just put the screen on your t shirt; by using a squeegee, spread ink on the inside part of the screen, and press the ink through it. Once dried, heat-set the ink and it will be long lasting and washable.

How to Apply Photo-Emulsion on a Fine Mess Silk Screen

Step 1: Gather your materials!

What you need:

1. A Screen

This is the way how to make the frame and to attach the silkscreen.

2. Photo emulsion and sensitizer. I used glue as substitute for expensive emulsion, and a liquid sensitizer.

Don’t worry about this either, I also have a tutorial about how to mix office glue and solid sensitizer for you.

3. Screen printing inks for fabric or textile paint.

Encapsulated PostScript (EPS) is a DSC-conforming PostScript document with additional restrictions which is intended to be usable as a graphics file format. In other words, EPS files are more or less self-contained, reasonably predictable PostScript documents that describe an image or drawing and can be placed within another PostScript document.

At minimum, an EPS file contains a BoundingBox DSC comment, describing the rectangle containing the image described by the EPS file. Applications can use this information to lay out the page, even if they are unable to directly render the PostScript inside.

EPS, together with DSC's Open Structuring Conventions, form the basis of early versions of the Adobe Illustrator Artwork file format.
