Despite taking extreme care of our skin conditions, we fall prey to such skin complications that completely affect our looks and consequently shatter our self-confidence. Acne is one such eruptive skin condition giving rise owing to a disorder in the sebaceous gland. This gland encircling the hair follicles secretes an oily substance named sebum that forms a moisturizing layer in order to protect the skin. Owing to the gland’s hyperactivity, excessive sebum is released that gets blended with the dead skin and dust thereby blocking the pores. Acne is mostly observed in times of adolescence just when the hormonal changes kick off.

Now, the skin conditions and characteristics vary from one person to another. Therefore, the treatments are also different for different people. In such cases, skin experts opine to go for natural skin treatments that can be best for curing acne. In fact, natural skin treatment products keep you away from side effects. It’s true that there are ample products in the market for curing acne. However, skin complications like irritation and dryness are some of the common symptoms that are observed in case of using chemical products.

One of the biggest reasons of acne is stress and anxiety. Therefore, meditation is one such option that can help you relax and handle every stressful circumstance with ease. There are several meditation techniques that have been specially designed to make people overcome stress and anxiety and therefore wipe off all negative thoughts from mind.

The first thing prior to meditation is to choose a quiet place. Remember, you need to concentrate and focus on a single object. For this, the place where you will be sitting and meditating will be absolutely calm and silent. You aim is to unwind your mind and wipe off all uneasy feelings that can help you become fit and fine. As a result, your skin conditions will improve and you will start regaining your looks with the progress in time.

Breathing is another brilliant option for curing acne. You simply need to close your eyes and take deep breaths. Inhale and exhale in such a way that you feel relaxed and rather not pant. Breathe at least 20 to 30 minutes on a daily basis and you’re your mind with positive thoughts always. If you wish, you can always get in touch with your skin specialist and know the specific meditation techniques that can respond to your skin conditions.

Planning a family involves a lot of groundwork—and for women that means staying healthy both during and after a pregnancy. But women should strive to be as healthy as they can before becoming pregnant as well: The Centers for Disease Control suggest that preconception health care can help a woman become healthier, but can also help avoid certain birth defects. And because a woman’s body goes through a wide array of changes throughout her pregnancy, it’s also critical that she does as much as she can to ensure the health of herself and her child.

Before pregnancy

Diet and exercise are essential for a healthy body, but it’s even more important for women planning a family to stay in shape. Women preparing for pregnancy may not believe that their health before pregnancy makes a difference, but being pregnant requires a great amount of energy and changes the body substantially—and starting with a healthy body can help women stay healthy during pregnancy as well as after the baby is born.

In addition to exercising and eating right to maintain a healthy weight, women are encouraged to take supplements like folic acid to help a baby’s brain and spinal cord. In addition to quitting drinking and smoking, women preparing to become pregnant should also avoid stress and, if they can, explore the genetic history of both her and the potential father’s families.

During pregnancy

Each woman’s pregnancies are different—in fact, many women who have more than one child may experience wildly different pregnancies. Weight gain is normal, but too much weight gain can endanger the health of the mother; according to WomensHealth.gov, women of normal weight should gain between 25 and 30 pounds during pregnancy.

Because complications like anemia, high blood pressure and gestational diabetes can occur in even the healthiest women, it’s important to visit a doctor throughout the pregnancy. If a woman experiences extreme discomfort, fatigue, nausea or pain during her pregnancy, it may be necessary to consult specialists to evaluate the problem.

After giving birth

A woman’s body changes significantly after childbirth: symptoms from continued weight gain to depression are common after a pregnancy. Women who breastfeed need extra nutrition, and should eat foods that are rich in protein, iron and calcium. Staying hydrated is also important, and women should drink lots of water and eat foods high in fiber to avoid constipation. Finally, refraining from drinking or smoking is a must, whether women are breastfeeding or not.

Having a child is an important decision, and one that brings both joy and stress to parents. Mothers owe it to themselves and their children to be as healthy as they can, during pregnancy and beyond.

The ugliest fat that ensnares our body without us noticing is on our thighs. Losing this fat fast requires spending a lot of sweaty hours working out in the gym and a basic change in lifestyle. With a desk job of 7 hours and bad eating habits, many of us find it very hard to shape up our thighs, which, we can easily hide under loose pants and layers and layers of clothes. But when it comes to dressing up in revealing costumes and skin-tight pants, there is no substitute for shaped, skinny legs resting on chic stilettos.

If you can donate 30 minutes of your day to carving those legs, that would be an investment of a lifetime. In the following post, I am discussing some simple exercises and machines which can help you get envious thighs.

Squat that fat

Professional dancers have great legs, ever wonder why? The answer lies in their balance training. Squat is one of their secret ways to gain and maintain balance. While squatting is an excellent exercise, just make sure that you don’t cross the angle limit of your body and end up hurting your knees. Do not stretch your legs much as it will increase the pressure on your ankles and knees. Focus on your butt muscles and squeeze them in tightly while moving down.

The slower you squat, the faster this exercise will burn your fat. 8–12 squats per session, with one minute break, are good for beginners. Start with 15 min and increase a minute each day. You might need foot and shin massage to deal with the cramps during the first week but the results you get in the end would be worth the effort. After three weeks, you feel your thighs getting firm. Continue the regime to maintain your thighs.

Trampoline does it fast

Cardio exercises work more on the lower body fat. They burn fat, shape up the body, build muscle and strengthen ones stamina. Unfortunately, most cardio exercises are difficult and require proper supervision but that is not always the case. Some of the cardio exercises are not only very simple but also loads of fun. Working out on a trampoline is one such exercise regime which can help you burn fat fast. Exercising your body on a trampoline guarantees flatter stomach, lean waist, stronger shins, shaped thighs and most of all – a firmer butt.

If you are not too sure how to work out on a trampoline and do not want to hire a personal trainer then it is highly recommended to watch some and follow the instructions included and advices offered in these videos. For proper and safer workout on trampoline, a 40 inches trampoline with six inches legs is fine. For higher and bouncier trampoline, make sure to do the safety checks.

Stepper does it the best

Stepper truly is meant to burn fat and wash out cellulite deposited on your legs. No wonder why most of the overweight people can’t find their way around the tough looking steppers. It is best to lose some weight before trying to get on a stair stepper. Healthy and strong lower portion guarantees a fitter you and stepper promises strong and good looking legs. Although stepper’s main focus is on the lower part but the body movements work its way up to the nape of your neck. It certainly is the best way to lose weight, get rid of cellulite and finally get in the desired shape.

Scars and stretch marks are a concern for many, regardless of gender. However, everybody having them does not necessarily stop us from feeling insecure about them. Having scars that you perceive as unsightly can really dent your confidence, while stretch marks can even make partners of many years feel uncomfortable undressing around each other. But what are both of these perfectly natural physical phenomenon? How are they formed and, more importantly, can we do anything about them? Read on to find out.

Scars

Scars can be formed when the skin repairs itself after an injury, often manifesting itself as one of a number of different scar types depending on the nature of the wound. Scars can be caused by anything from acne to burns, and can appear as anything from flat, red marks to raised, white scratches.

Stretch marks

Stretch marks are, in fact, also a kind of scarring. As their name suggests, they are caused by the skin stretching rapidly, often as a result of significant growth or weight gain (for example during puberty or pregnancy). Although they are incredibly common and, like most scars, do fade over time, they often cause a great deal of self consciousness in those that have them.

Treatment

As previously mentioned, both scars and stretch marks get fainter as time passes. Surgical procedures such as skin grafts and laser surgery are sometimes used in more severe cases of scarring, but generally these options are only given to those with seriously disfiguring scar tissue.

The non surgical and far more common way to deal with scarring is to obtain and use special creams or oils that help the skin to heal, and while they are often marketed to specific groups they can generally be used on all kinds of scarring. The Sanctuary stretch mark oil, for example, is primarily aimed at mums to be, but this does not mean it cannot be used to prevent other kinds of stretch marks just as effectively. Another popular brand of scar and stretch mark healing product is Bio Oil, although reviews appear to suggest that it is more effective at dealing with the former than the latter.

As with any skin condition, prevention – if possible – is generally better than cure, although exfoliation has also been shown to help with the lessening of scarring and stretch marks. However, using scar or stretch mark oils or cream certainly does appeal to help, and are definitely worth it for the confidence boost.

Sue Dale swears by stretch mark oil; despite having had two children, she claims hers are hardly visible today.

The holiday season brings many things including time with family, great gifts, and wonderful seasonal food. Unfortunately, it also potentially brings weight gain along with it. It’s terribly common for people to gain quite a bit of weight in just a few weeks thanks to countless meals and family get-togethers. The food is just so delicious that it’s almost impossible to say no. But with a bit of self-restraint and proper planning, there’s no reason why you have to go on a diet during the holiday season. In fact, you can still indulge in scrumptious food while sharing warm memories with your family. If you do it right, you’ll be able to keep your weight down so that your waistline doesn’t burst by the time New Year’s hits.

Don’t Skip Meals – it might seem like skipping breakfast and lunch in order to get bigger dinner is a logical idea. But if you know anything about metabolism and dieting, you should realize this is extremely unhealthy. You might think that doing it for two weeks won’t cause any problems, but this is one tactic that will always backfire. You’ll essentially be creating incredible cravings that you might not be able to control. You’ll actually end up eating more in many cases while slowing down your metabolism at the same time.

Keep a Log – sometimes when we have a journal that details exactly what we each, it helps to keep us under control. This is exactly what you should work to create, and it might be something you continue after the holiday season. Keep track of what you consume and how many calories you’re taking in every day. If you find yourself getting out of control, it will definitely be noticeable when you have a spreadsheet in front of you.

No Seconds – try your best to stick to the firm rules of not going back for seconds. Go ahead and eat whatever you like and make sure that you try all the traditional favorites. Just put everything on that first plate and limit yourself from going back for seconds or thirds. You should be able to get full from one serving alone, so avoid the excessive calories associated with loading up your plate another time.

Be careful About Drinks and Deserts – remember that calories are calories whether they come from turkey, ham, or a beer. This is a festive season which means more elements like beverages and desserts with every meal. Be careful about raising your overall caloric intake with these elements because they readily provide any nutritional benefits at the same time. Go ahead and indulge on occasion, just so go overboard with these two elements or you’ll be adding to your waistline exponentially.

Enjoy the meal – rather than scarfing down everything you see right away, make sure that you take the time to enjoy the food. This gives your stomach and brain a chance to sing together and tell you that you’re getting full. Eating too fast is a common mistake and not just during the holidays. Make sure that you savor your food and take the time to enjoy the people around you, and appreciate all the work into preparing your meal.

Time for Exercise – it’s not just about food when it comes to keeping yourself trim. During the holidays it’s more important to stay active than ever. You can boost your metabolism and burn off excess calories, and you don’t have to go overboard with anything crazy by joining a gym. You don’t have to embark on the types of exercise conducive for fast weight loss, you just have to stay as active as possible to give yourself more leeway when it comes time to eating. Even something as going for a daily walk will benefit you tremendously during the holiday season.

These tips come from rabbitsadvice.com, a site to find more info on healthy living ranging from better eating to the best home exercise equipment.

There are lots of reasons to quit smoking as it will have an impact on your wallet as well as your health and fitness levels. Smoking is a difficult habit to give up, so it is important to cut back on the amount of cigarettes you smoke over time as a gradual approach is more likely to result in completely quitting than going cold turkey!

There is a lot of support available to help people quit smoking in the forms of groups and various technologies like inhalers and cigarette replacement devices which will help with behavioural habits associated with smoking.

Reduced Health Insurance Costs –

Quitting smoking can often reduce your health insurance costs as some Insurers provide a discount for leading a healthier lifestyle, this includes no-smoking discounts. Smokers tend to pay more for health insurance as they are at a higher risk of disease and illness than non-smokers. Quitting smoking can mean that your health insurance costs may be reduced. However it is important to find out whether your health insurance provider offers any such discounts.

Health benefits –

There are a number of substantial health benefits for quitting smoking which can include lowering of blood pressure and heart rate. This is due to the fact that heart rates and blood pressure increase if you smoke regularly. Carbon monoxide levels in the blood will decline over time; this is a health benefit as carbon monoxide reduces the ability for blood to carry oxygen, so over time blood will be able to transport more oxygen than previously. Circulation will improve when you quit smoking and your body will produce less phlegm. Also your chest will feel clearer and often coughs and wheezing which may be present can subside.

After several months of not smoking previous smokers can expect to experience improvements in lung capacity and improved breathing abilities.

Finally, recently quit smokers experience an improved sense of smell and more taste when eating food.

Lowers risk of cancer –

If a recently quit smoker remains a non-smoker for a long period of time (a number of years) then the risk of developing and dying from cancer will be reduced.

The risk of developing cancer from smoking is dependent on a number of factors such as:

The age at which they began smoking

The number of cigarettes they smoke each day

How long the smoker has been smoking

Whether or not they were ill at the time of quitting

For smokers who have already developed cancer, quitting smoking reduces the risk of developing a second form of cancer.

Saves money –

Depending on how much you smoke, quitting smoking can mean a sustainable amount of money saved. The price of tobacco and cigarettes has risen sharply during recent years and cigarette prices are often increased due to tax changes and inflation.

Lifestyle improvements –

Quitting smoking can also mean various aspects of lifestyle are improved. Clothes will no longer smell of stale tobacco. Skin and teeth appearance may improve over time. Quitting smoking will also reduce the risk of fire in your home.

There are a great number of positive reasons to quit smoking as it will improve the quality of your life, save you money and improve your health levels. Although quitting smoking can be challenging it is important to see the task through and there is a lot support and resources available to assist smokers who are quitting.

Being diabetic means having to be exceptionally watchful when it comes to your overall health: food intake and regular diet, exercise, and monitoring your blood sugar should all be part of your daily routine. Scientists have discovered that diabetics may have another complication to consider: a link between diabetes and pancreatic cancer. And while being diabetic doesn’t mean that you’re destined to develop pancreatic cancer, research suggests that diabetics are at greater risk to develop the disease.

About 80 percent of pancreatic cancer patients are also diabetic, or have glucose intolerance problems. Since diabetes reduces or eliminates your body’s ability to create its own insulin, the hormone that regulates your body’s blood sugar levels, the connection between pancreatic cancer and diabetes may be the inability of the pancreas to do its job.

While type 1 diabetes is usually caused by genetic or environmental factors, type 2 diabetes is often caused by lifestyle factors like diet and lack of exercise. And while making lifestyle changes can help you avoid developing diabetes or lessen the symptoms of the disease, it may reduce your risk for developing pancreatic cancer as well.

Treatment for diabetes and pancreatic cancer

The symptoms and complications of diabetes can range from the typical—constant or intense thirst, frequent urination and fatigue—to more serious complications like decreased blood circulation and chronic skin infections. Talk to a doctor with expertise in endocrinology, and tell him or her about any changes in your overall health that could signal the development of pancreatic cancer. Two of the medications used to treat diabetes, exenatide and sitagliptin, are suspected to increase the risk for pancreatic cancer by a factor of six, so patients who take either of those medications should monitor their health for signs of the disease.

Preventing diabetes and pancreatic cancer

Because a healthy diet and a regular exercise regimen can decrease the symptoms of diabetes and lower risk of pancreatic cancer, it’s important that diabetics eat diets a large amount of fruits and vegetables, whole grains, lean meats, and non-fat dairy products. Smoking also increases risk for both diabetes and pancreatic cancer, so quitting smoking is also important. If you’re unsure of how to begin changing your diet and exercise schedule, talk to your doctor to craft a wellness plan that you can stick to long-term.

Living with diabetes doesn’t have to mean that you’re unhealthy—but it does require that you maintain a healthy lifestyle and do what you can to keep your blood sugar levels stable. As more research is conducted to prove the links between diabetes and pancreatic cancer, diabetics may have to do more to reduce their risk for complications from either disease. But with support from medical professionals and a commitment to keeping your condition at bay, you can be healthier and happier.

Acne is not only a problem for teenagers. Many people think that teens outgrow their acne. However, the reality of the situation is that adults get acne, too. In fact, many adults suffer from acne and need to find solutions for their skin.

Issues

Acne causes several issues. First, acne makes the face look bad. It can also cause inflammation, redness, and facial pain around the affected areas. Acne takes a toll on a person’s emotional wellbeing. Acne sufferers sometimes lose their self confidence and feel badly about themselves because of the way their faces look. Acne sufferers sometimes want to hide their faces from the world and are not as active and outgoing as they really want to be in life.

Causes

There are some possible causes of acne, but every person is different. This means that every person’s skin reacts differently, too. One common cause of adult acne has to do with hormones in the body, which affects oil glands in the skin. In fact, fluctuations in hormone levels in women can cause adult acne specifically during menstruation, pregnancy, and menopause. A vitamin deficiency or even a person’s diet can cause acne, too. Bacteria on the face is another cause of acne. It is even possible that genetic factors can come into play and cause acne. Perhaps another common cause of adult acne is simply stress. Many adults have so much stress on their bodies that their skin begins to break out in reaction to the stress and the stress related hormones the body begins to produce.

Solutions

Adult acne sufferers want good solutions that will get rid of the acne, soothe the redness and irritations, and calm the inflammation. They want solutions that will get results, so they can be proud to show their faces again. Fortunately, there are some great solutions that help.

1. One solution is to wash the face daily. The key is to wash the face only once or twice a day to keep the skin from drying out and causing more irritation to occur. The best product to use to clean the face is a mild soap to avoid anything too strong that may cause further irritation or breakouts.

2. Another solution is to try an over-the-counter acne medication. These products are designed to help existing acne heal as well as prevent new bumps from forming.

3. One great tip to help the acne go away is to never touch the affected areas. Leaving them alone can actually help them heal faster and will not cause unsightly scarring that picking at the acne tends to cause.

4. Drinking plenty of water can help, too. Keeping the body hydrated means that the body doesn’t have to steal water from the skin. The skin needs to be hydrated to look good and stay healthy.

5. Another solution may be for acne sufferers to keep a food journal for a few weeks to see if they can pinpoint certain foods that may be causing acne flare-ups. Once these foods are identified, they can be avoided.

6. A final solution is for adult acne sufferers to see a dermatologist who can help. Dermatologists can proscribe prescription medication when nothing else seems to work.

Adult acne sufferers shouldn’t have to suffer through acne and should seek solutions.
