Jamie Oliver 20 Minute Meal App

Have any of you tried the new Jamie Oliver 20 Minute Meal App?! If you haven't and you like cooking or want to improve your cooking skills, I would totally recommend it! Its awesome. The app itself is free and comes with several recipes and a few videos to get started. Then you can purchase additional recipes and videos if you want to. The packets of recipes and videos start at $1.99 each so they are reasonably priced. The app also has this cool feature where you can compile shopping lists of items in the recipes and add your own grocery items as well. Then you can email them to yourself and print it off or just use the list in the app when you are at the store. I'm a big Jamie Oliver fan anyways but this app is seriously cool and I love trying new recipes. In my opinion it's pretty kick ass.

Whisker Wars and the 2012 West Coast Beard and Mustache Championships

Last weekend the mister, his buddy Robert, my son and I packed into my car and drove down to Portland Oregon to witness the 2012 West Coast Beard and Mustache Championships. As a couple, the mister and I have enjoyed watching this awesome show on IFC called Whisker Wars. Its through watching this show that we have discovered the whole facial hair competition thing. Its been entertaining to watch the show on TV so when we had the chance to see it in person we jumped on the opportunity. Below is a trailer of what the show is all about, in case you've missed it. Anyways, I snapped a few pictures on my iPhone, bought some beer cozies from the guys at the Austin Facial Hair Club, sported my own mustache (and my 8 year old did too) and of coarse scoped out all the kick ass facial hair. It was a great time, capped off by hitting up Voodoo Doughnuts...thanks Oregon!

The Bird

When I was growing up there was this magical/funky/cool/unique place called Yard Birds. My uncle worked there in the advertising department and sometimes my parents would take me up the elevator to visit him. Yard Birds sold EVERYTHING. In the time before Walmarts, Yard Birds was the local go-to place for ALL shopping. They sold clothes, housewares, camping equipment, food, had a pharmacy and a pet selection that would've kept up with any specialty pet shop. They had parking lot sales, floats in local parades, a Santa that would land on the roof in a helicopter at Christmas and a huge bird out front that housed one of the original owners helicopters. It really was a spectacle of a place. The Yard Birds I remember has been gone for quite awhile now, but there's still a grocery store and several small businesses housed there. After years of flooding the big bird out front is in need of some serious TLC and there's a local movement here to raise money to repair it. There's a fun documentary about the place, along with shirts and some other fund raising merchandise. Take a look if you are interested..here's the Facebook page that follows the fund raising and has a lot of cool pictures and other info. Below are some pictures of my own. Hope they bring a smile to you face like the memories do for me.

So you would think that since it is July that the weather would be nice enough for me to take some pictures outside of my Etsy shop stuff. But oooohhhhhh no. Its been raining and cloudy for days now, so I haven't been able to take pictures like I had wanted. So instead, here are several of my post favorite finds on Etsy from other sellers. I promise I will get the new stuff up and going next week as long as the darn weather cooperates!

Woohoo! The mister and I took a trip to Idaho this week. It was a great get away up until I started peeing blood and had to go to the ER. Ha! If you know me very well you will know things like that have a way of working themselves into many trips and plans I have. Oh well! We had a great time anyways and I am feeling A-OK now. Here some pics!!
