  <p class="">Luxury hospitality and contemporary art came together once again as <strong>The Hari Hong Kong</strong> announced the winners of the <strong>third annual The Hari Art Prize 2026</strong>, celebrating some of Hong Kong's most exciting emerging artistic voices.</p><p class="">With nearly <strong>700 applications</strong>—the highest number in the competition's history—the 2026 edition demonstrates the growing importance of The Hari Art Prize as a platform supporting young artists, recent graduates and self-taught creatives across Hong Kong.</p><p class="">At the heart of this year's celebration was sculptor <strong>Man Mei To</strong>, whose powerful work <strong>Curly Breathing I</strong> earned the top honour and the <strong>HK$100,000 cash prize</strong>, donated by Dr. Aron Harilela, CEO and Chairman of Harilela Hotels Limited and founder of The Hari Hong Kong.</p><p class=""><strong>A Sculpture About Healing, Breath and Human Resilience</strong></p><p class="">Crafted from <strong>African padauk wood, oil and stainless steel</strong>, <em>Curly Breathing I</em> captivated judges with its organic forms and emotional depth.</p><p class="">According to Dr. Aron Harilela, the sculpture reflects "fragility and resilience amid forces beyond our control," tracing cycles of transformation, survival and healing while encouraging viewers to reconnect with the body's unseen rhythms.</p><p class="">But behind the sculpture lies an intensely personal story.</p><p class="">Speaking to Hospemag, Man Mei To explained that the artwork was inspired by breathing exercises and years of research into body movement.</p><p class=""><em>"The fragmented, curling forms capture the hidden currents of chi and the tangled emotions inside the body,"</em> she says. <em>"They represent releasing accumulated pressure, relearning the rhythm of breathing, and letting go of sadness and anxiety."</em></p><p class="">The sculpture evolved from collaborations with dancers, body casting, and later 3D scanning techniques that allowed her to capture movement and transform it into sculptural forms.</p><p class=""><em>"I kept folding and reshaping these movements until they eventually became the sculptures people see today."</em></p><p class="">Winning the prize came as a complete surprise.</p><p class="">After completing her MFA at London's Slade School of Fine Art, Man says she faced countless rejections while applying for grants and exhibitions.</p><p class=""><em>"I had almost zero expectations,"</em> she admits. <em>"Receiving this recognition felt like a gesture of warmth during a very challenging time."</em></p><p class="">Her advice to aspiring artists is refreshingly honest:</p><p class=""><em>"Calling yourself an artist is easy. Using your voice to speak about the world's issues is much harder. If you choose this path, you must be prepared to dedicate your passion to art for a lifetime."</em></p><p class=""><strong>Runner-Up: Katrina Leigh Mendoza Raimann Finds Beauty in Everyday Nature</strong></p><p class="">One of this year's runners-up, <strong>Katrina Leigh Mendoza Raimann</strong>, was recognised for her textile artwork <strong>Small Stepping (2022)</strong>, created from burlap, wool and cotton yarn.</p><p class="">Inspired by moss and algae growing along a quiet riverside walk, the artwork transforms overlooked moments in nature into expressive abstract forms.</p><p class=""><em>"The piece is rooted in the emotional terrain of everyday life,"</em> she explains. <em>"Like moss held still within flowing water, my work captures memories and emotions that continue changing even while frozen in time."</em></p><p class="">Entirely handmade, the work combines embroidery, knotting, crochet, tufting and sculpting techniques to create its rich carpet-like surface.</p><p class="">Interestingly, this was Katrina's <strong>first international competition</strong>.</p><p class=""><em>"Being shortlisted and becoming runner-up was an amazing experience. It's an honour to exhibit alongside such talented artists in Hong Kong."</em></p><p class="">Her advice is beautifully simple:</p><p class=""><em>"Keep making work, regardless of exhibitions or shows. Your work reflects your life, your emotions and your thoughts."</em></p><p class=""><strong>Runner-Up: Ailsa Wong Explores Digital Painting Beyond Traditional Boundaries</strong></p><p class="">Joining Katrina as runner-up was <strong>Ailsa Wong</strong>, whose archival inkjet print <strong>Lightning</strong> impressed judges with its atmospheric composition and experimental digital language.</p><p class="">Created entirely on an iPad, the work explores textures, glitches and fragmented digital layers that cannot exist in traditional painting.</p><p class=""><em>"Rather than delivering a fixed meaning, I want viewers to discover their own interpretations,"</em> Wong says. <em>"The work reflects contemporary life shaped by digital environments while remaining emotionally open."</em></p><p class="">She believes digital art deserves equal recognition alongside more traditional mediums.</p><p class=""><em>"I'm especially happy that a digital painting was selected. The award encourages me to continue taking creative risks."</em></p><p class="">For Wong, art has the power to transform hospitality spaces.</p><p class=""><em>"A hotel is often a place of movement and transition. Art can interrupt that flow, creating moments of reflection that guests remember long after they leave."</em></p><p class=""><strong>More Than an Art Prize</strong></p><p class="">Alongside the winners, sixteen additional finalists were selected, representing painting, sculpture, photography, installation, textiles and mixed media.</p><p class="">The judging panel brought together leaders from the worlds of hospitality, galleries, luxury brands and publishing, including representatives from White Cube, CHANEL, TASCHEN, Ben Brown Fine Arts and A Space for Art.</p><p class=""><strong>The Hari Hong Kong: Where Hospitality Meets Contemporary Art</strong></p><p class="">The Hari Hong Kong has steadily established itself as one of Asia's most distinctive art hotels.</p><p class="">Rather than simply displaying artwork, the hotel integrates contemporary art into the guest experience.   <p class="">Malaysia Airlines has expanded its China network with the launch of new direct services from Kuala Lumpur to Shenzhen (SZX) and Changsha (CSX), strengthening its presence in what is now its second-largest international market by number of destinations. The strategic expansion reflects the growing demand for travel between Malaysia and China, driven by stronger economic partnerships and increasing interest in both leisure and business travel, enabling the national carrier to tap into a broader and more diversified segment of the Chinese market.</p><p class="">The expansion commenced with the inaugural flight MH522 to Shenzhen, which departed from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL) Terminal 1 on 1 July 2026 at 9:05 pm local time. The return service, flight MH523, departed Shenzhen for Kuala Lumpur at 2:45 am local time on 2 July 2026.</p><p class="">This was followed by the launch of services to Changsha on 8 July 2026, with the inaugural flight MH520 departing Kuala Lumpur at 8:00 pm local time. The return flight, MH521, departed Changsha at 2:05 am local time on 9 July 2026.</p><p class="">Both routes operate with a frequency of up to seven weekly flights using the Boeing 737-8 aircraft, providing travellers with greater connectivity and flexibility between Malaysia and China.</p><p class="">Bryan Foong, Chief Executive Officer of Airline Business at Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG), said, “The launch of our services to Shenzhen and Changsha marks a proud milestone in our continuous efforts to expand our network across China. By connecting Kuala Lumpur to these high-growth regional hubs, we are offering travellers greater convenience and flexibility while supporting stronger business, tourism and people-to-people ties between our two countries.   <p class="">Mumbai, July : A grand memorial dedicated to Veer Jivaji Mahale will be constructed at the foothills of Pratapgad Fort following the decision of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. An initial allocation of ₹1 crore has been made for the first phase of the project. Tourism Minister Shambhuraj Desai made this announcement while presenting a statement in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly today.</p><p class="">Minister Desai said that during Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde's recent visit to Mahabaleshwar, several organisations devoted to the legacy of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj had demanded the construction of a memorial to Veer Jivaji Mahale. Following discussions with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, it has been decided to construct a grand memorial at the foothills of Pratapgad through the Tourism Department.</p><p class="">Minister Desai stated that the Hindavi Swarajya established by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj symbolises valour, self-respect and sacrifice. During the historic Battle of Pratapgad, Veer Jivaji Mahale displayed exceptional courage, presence of mind and bravery, saving the life of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The immortal saying, “Hota Jiva Mhanun Vachla Shiva” (Had Jiva not been there, Shiva would not have survived), stands as a timeless testament to his unparalleled heroism.</p><p class="">Every year on November 10, Shiv Pratap Din is celebrated with great enthusiasm at Pratapgad Fort. Lakhs of devotees of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, historians, students and tourists from India and abroad visit the fort to participate in the celebrations. Minister Desai noted that this has consistently enhanced Pratapgad's historical and tourism significance.</p><p class="">For several years, social organisations, historians, Shivaji devotees and public representatives have been demanding a memorial for Veer Jivaji Mahale. Taking note of these long-standing demands, the State Government has decided to construct a grand and aesthetically designed memorial on land belonging to the Tourism Department. An amount of ₹1 crore has been approved for the first phase of the project, the Minister informed the House.</p><p class="">Minister Desai expressed confidence that the memorial would provide a major boost to Shivkalin heritage tourism at Pratapgad.   <p class="">Air India has been ranked the <strong>4th most on-time airline in the world</strong> in <strong>June 2026</strong> by aviation analytics firm Cirium, underscoring the airline's continued focus on operational reliability and schedule integrity.</p><p class="">According to Cirium's June 2026 On-Time Performance report, Air India recorded an <strong>on-time arrival rate of 86.85%</strong> across <strong>15,135 flights tracked</strong> during the month. The airline also posted an <strong>on-time departure rate of 86.23%</strong> and a <strong>completion factor of 99.7%</strong>, meaning virtually all scheduled flights operated as planned.&nbsp;</p><p class="">The ranking reflects Air India’s sustained investments in operational resilience, improved network planning, and enhanced execution across its domestic and international operations.</p><p class="">As a hub-and-spoke network carrier operating a large number of domestic and international connections through India's two largest airports, Delhi and Mumbai, Air India manages significant operational complexity. The airline's operations can be impacted by congestion and air traffic control restrictions at these busy airports, which often have a cascading effect across the network.</p><p class="">Over time, Air India has introduced a range of measures to strengthen schedule reliability and deliver a more consistent travel experience for its customers. These include improving departure punctuality, streamlining aircraft turnaround processes, enhancing real-time network monitoring, and enabling faster operational decision-making across the airline.</p><p class="">The airline has also focused on building greater operational resilience through robust contingency planning, enhanced cross-functional coordination, and maintaining the operational flexibility needed to respond effectively to unforeseen disruptions such as weather events, airspace restrictions, airport congestion, or technical issues. These efforts help minimise the impact of disruptions, support network stability, and ensure customers reach their destinations with greater reliability.</p><p class="">Air India’s improving operational performance complements its broader transformation efforts underway, encompassing fleet modernisation, customer experience enhancements, digital innovation, and the strengthening of global connectivity through its growing hub-and-spoke network.</p><p class=""><strong>Ongoing fleet modernization efforts</strong></p><p class="">As part of its transformation, Air India is undertaking one of the world's largest fleet renewal programmes, having placed orders for 600 new Airbus and Boeing aircraft, while simultaneously modernising its existing fleet. The airline has inducted three new Boeing 787-9 aircraft over the last six months, with additional Boeing 787-9s and Airbus A350-1000s scheduled to join the fleet later in 2026.</p><p class="">In parallel, Air India is progressing with the retrofit of its legacy widebody fleet. With Roxie (Harlur), Roxie &amp; Barry (Whitefield), and Helen’s Place (Marathahalli) already firmly embedded in the fabric of Bengaluru’s restaurant culture, the group’s next move is its most ambitious yet.</p><p class=""><strong>Helen &amp; Lorena’s Place</strong>, opening on the Sarjapur–Varthur Road, will be <strong>India’s first Porto-Spanish Crafthouse, </strong>a concept two years in the making, rooted equally in lived experience and careful culinary architecture. Helen &amp; Lorena’s Place draws its identity from two distinct worlds. Helen’s roots lie in the culture of Porto—generous and unhurried, where the food is a testament to varied maritime flavours and hearty meats. Lorena’s come from the bakeries and countryside kitchens of San Sebastian, Spain.</p><p class="">The food programme is broad in its cultural references and precise in its execution.<strong> The menu is unlike anything currently on offer in Bengaluru</strong>. Helen's kitchen opens with a Red Wine-Braised Chicken slow-cooked with pearl onions and smoky bacon and a Portuguese Pork Chorizo with herb mash—dishes that carry the weight of coastal European cooking without apology. <strong>Lorena's Spanish signatures push further: Andalusian Garlic Prawns sizzling in golden olive oil,</strong> <strong>Octopus à la Plancha </strong>seared with smoky char and flaky sea salt, <strong>Lamb Merguez Sausage Skewers</strong> built on harissa and cumin, and <strong>Lumpia Cigar Rolls </strong>with Smoked Pepper Dip—a menu that moves between Spain's taverns and its countryside tables with genuine fluency.&nbsp;</p><p class=""><strong>Lorena's Panadería—pies, puffs, and baked goods brought from the traditions of San Sebastian </strong>— deserves a sentence of its own. <strong>The Cutie Pies and Cuddle Puffs, as the menu calls them</strong>, range from a Caramelised Onion &amp; Goat Cheese Puff to a Chicken Ghee Roast Puff and a Cream Cheese &amp; Bacon Puff Burger. The windmill is a deliberate architectural nod to the Spanish landscape. The wall illustrations are hand-drawn.   <p class="">Easy to make recipes with Kathal!</p><p class="">Jackfruit has been one of my favorite fruit and veg combo</p><p class="">ingredient since many years and we would wait for its season</p><p class="">to come and pre-list a whole lot of dishes to make with it and</p><p class="">relish its taste and flavor, it is also known as Jack Tree and is</p><p class="">said to be a species of tree in the fig, mulberry family, it is</p><p class="">one of the most significant evergreen trees in tropical areas</p><p class="">and widely grown in various parts of Asia including India. It is</p><p class="">a large, prickly fruit which grows on a tropical tree reaching a</p><p class="">height of approx. 80 feet, 20 meters and its pulp is starchy &amp;amp;</p><p class="">fibrous in texture very much a native to South India.</p><p class="">Jackfruit is commonly used in south east Asian cuisines in a</p><p class="">number of ways, it often finds its place in curries and stews,</p><p class="">gravies, chips and sides in a number of menus and the</p><p class="">kitchens of Indonesia, Philippines and Vietnam have created</p><p class="">some great recipes too with jackfruit. it is also the national</p><p class="">fruit of Bangladesh and Sri-lanka and the state fruit of Indian</p><p class="">states like Kerala and Tamilnadu.</p><p class="">The greenish unripe fruit is cooked as a vegetable and the</p><p class="">brown ripen fruit is often eaten fresh or added to desserts</p><p class="">like ice-cream. Jackfruit is not the easiest fruit to prepare</p><p class="">when cut open we find large pale yellow pods containing</p><p class="">seeds and are connected to the fruits core. Prepare the jackfruit and sprinkle little salt on it and</p><p class="">with a little water and oil pressure cook it until soft,</p><p class="">mash or grate and keep aside.</p><p class="">2. In a mixing bowl combine together all the ingredients</p><p class="">for the cutlet mixture and add bindings as desired and</p><p class="">shape it into a nice dough like texture.</p><p class="">3. Apply oil on the hands, and divide the cutlet mixture</p><p class="">into lemon sized balls, shape them into tikkis, I like</p><p class="">stuffing them with grated cheese and chopped green</p><p class="">chilies and nuts too.</p><p class="">4. Coat them on top with maida, corn flour/ batter and</p><p class="">bread crumbs and shallow fry/deep fry until nice and</p><p class="">crispy on the outside.</p><p class="">5. Serve with choice of dips, sauces, chutneys etc.</p><p class="">Recipe- 2] Jackfruit Coconut Burfi</p><p class="">Ingredients</p><p class="">Jackfruit paste- 1 cup, edible parts to be removed and</p><p class="">processed.</p><p class="">Fresh or dried coconut- 1 cup</p><p class="">Sugar-2 cups as per taste</p><p class="">Ghee- 2-3 tbsp.</p><p class="">Green elaichi- 5 -6 no.</p><p class="">Assorted nuts- 2 tbsp. chop</p><p class="">Method:</p><p class="">1. Prepare the Jackfruit paste and keep aside.</p><p class="">2. Dry roast the coconut until dry, roughly grind without</p><p class="">adding water to convert it into fine pieces.</p><p class="">3. In a pan add jackfruit paste, sugar to taste and cook it well</p><p class="">on a medium flame for a few mins, add in the ghee, coconut</p><p class="">and also the elaichi to flavor.</p><p class="">4. Continue stirring it for 4-5 mins, until the mixture starts to</p><p class="">leave the sides of the pan.</p><p class="">5. Remove the mixture onto a greased tray and evenly spread</p><p class="">it, sprinkle chopped nuts over and allow to set in the fridge or</p><p class="">in a cool place for couple of hours, cut into burfi shapes and</p><p class="">serve the sweet.</p><p class="">Recipe- 3] Asian Jackfruit &amp;amp; Veg Curry</p><p class="">Ingredients</p><p class="">Oil/ghee/coconut oil - 2 tbsp.</p><p class="">Hing-1/4 tsp</p><p class="">Dry red chilies- 2 nos.</p><p class="">Curry leaves- 8-10</p><p class="">Onion- 1 medium size chop or 8-10 shallots peeled</p><p class="">Capsicums- ½ cup diced</p><p class="">Ginger -1 tbsp. chopped</p><p class="">Garlic- 1 tbsp. chopped</p><p class="">Curry powder/curry paste- 2 tbsp.</p><p class="">Ground jeera powder- 1 tsp</p><p class="">Kasuri methi-1/2 tsp</p><p class="">Cashew paste-1 tbsp.</p><p class="">Fresh cream- 2 tbsp.</p><p class="">Turmeric powder-1/2 tsp</p><p class="">Salt to taste</p><p class="">Tomato puree- ½ cup</p><p class="">Coconut milk- 500 ml</p><p class="">Assorted veggies to add to the curry- carrots, potatoes, peas.</p><p class="">Jackfruit- 500 gms, cubes par boiled.</p><p class="">Coriander leaves for garnish- 1 tbsp.</p><p class="">Roasted peanuts- 2 tbsp.</p><p class="">Method:</p><p class="">1. Prepare all the ingredients for the curry.</p><p class="">2. Heat oil/ghee add in the hing, curry leaves, chilies, ginger,</p><p class="">garlic and allow to crackle and splutter.</p><p class="">3. Add in onions or shallots and saute until pink add in the</p><p class="">tomato puree, salt and all powdered spices/curry powder</p><p class="">and mix well.</p><p class="">4. Simmer the gravy for 4-5 mins, add a little cashew paste</p><p class="">and fresh cream as well for more flavor, add in kasoori methi,</p><p class="">and allow to cook.</p><p class="">5.Now put in the jackfruit pieces, and other additional</p><p class="">veggies or non-veg of your choice and mix and cover and</p><p class="">cook for 15-20 mins or until soft and tender.</p><p class="">6.
