Chapter 22 - The Road to Acheron.

At long last the closing chapter of The Hour of the Dragon, Robert E. Howard's only novel featuring his best known character Conan. Get it while it lasts! I'm planning on redoing the first three chapters for continuity and when I do, I'll be packaging the whole thing together and selling it (for a very modest price) on Itunes (or something similar). Thanks for listening while I got it done. Hey Folks,

Well, here we go with Chapter VIII. It's been a rough couple of weeks. Our landlord decided to move back into our house, so we got two months notice on the marching orders. After a few false starts, we found a new place, really nice, in a neighborhood I like- a friendly local pub, a decent cafe, and a short walk to the action of Sydney Rd.

On top of that, the house is on a quarter acre block, of which very few still exist in this part of Melbourne. All that to say that I've been delayed in my duties. On top of it, I've buried my good microphone somewhere and won't be able to correct a few of the little recording mistakes I found...I'll try to get them next week. Nothing too major...

Sorry about the delay - my trip home to see friends and family took up the last 4 weeks and while I actually edited the show while back home in San Francisco, a computer crash left several blank segments in my recording and I had to wait to get back here to re-record those bits. The good bit is that you will get chapter 7 in a day or two....

Will our hero escape the loathsome prison and the dark clutches of Xaltotun? Hang in there and be sure to keep listening!

I've been reading Neil Stephenson's Anathema , and have been really enjoying it, but it's certainly very erudite and tough going. Conan is a well worthwhile break from the stresses of life. Well, here it is , Chapter III - The Cliffs Reel!

I had a lot of fun reading this one. I'm settling into the voices and reading style I want. Everyone gets their own voice in this episode and I'll strive for that with the rest - or at least for all the major characters. I think I've finally got the technical bugs worked out as well; I've got a decent mic set-up and USB pre-amp which seems to work pretty well and is consistent.

There is still a tiny bit more noise than I would like, but overall I think it's quite good and I'm much happier with this one than the last two, though I was pleased with those too. I may go back and re-read the first chapter and insert character voices, but we'll see.
