<p>The organization aims to fill a variety of seasonal job openings, with work beginning as early as next week for some positions. Applications for these jobs are due immediately.</p>
<p>There are nearly 40 openings available through the Summer Youth Employment Program, according to Director of Talent Development James Avery.</p>

<p>As small business owners grapple with finances and strategic approaches focused on survival during the pandemic, many are balancing personal and business resources to stay afloat, particularly minority-owned businesses.</p>

<p>Of those, 96 businesses are in Genesee County, according to the Flint &amp; Genesee Chamber of Commerce. The grants helped businesses to retain 1,138 jobs in the county.</p>
<p>Each business received up to $15,000 in much-needed financial relief from the Michigan Economic Development Corp.’s (MEDC) Small Business Survival Grant Program.</p>

<p>Pastors and churches say enough is enough and will march today (December 29) to speak out and pray for change.</p>
<p>Homicides in the city were up 23.7 percent and violent crimes were up 19.24 percent, according to Flint Police Department statistics. Over the Christmas weekend three shootings left four people dead &#8212; including an infant &#8212; all within a matter of hours.</p>
