Family Reunion Preparation

It was our turn to be in charge of the Millett Family Reunion. We decided on a Mustache theme. ("We Mustache you to join us...")

We had some fun with it and sent out enough fuzzy mustaches to all our family members and asked them to take pictures of each of them wearing them. We asked them to be silly, serious and do whatever they wanted. Here are ours! It was a fun way to spend a little time together on a Sunday afternoon!

Rodeo

John was asked to sing the National Anthem at the Rodeo on June 12th, 2015. We were all given courtesy tickets so we could go watch him perform. The kids loved it!

John and I went down earlier in the day to do a sound check. It was super loud! Man, I love that John can sing. It makes me happy to hear him share his talent!

The armed forces brought out a huge flag and held it in the arena while John sang. It was beautiful!

The clowns were really funny this year. The kids just laughed and laughed at their crazy antics.

John was also given 4 "backstage" passes which put the boys right above the action! They were in heaven!

This man was really brave! They called him out of the audience to go for a ride on their bucking airplane. He sure didn't last long before being bucked off! LOL

So glad John had the opportunity to sing at the rodeo. It was such a fun night!

Girl's Softball

Morgan was asked to play girls softball this year. After a few games, she decided it really wasn't her thing. We made her stick out the season, and she ended up having a good time. Still doesn't want to play again. lol I sure enjoy watching my kids play!

Trek Family Pictures

We had to take pictures of our Pioneer Trek Family so the Stake could put them in the front of our journals. It took us a few tries to get a good one (Notice the bunny ears from Kyson--the stinker), but Morgan did a pretty good job for us.

6th Grade Movie/Awards

The long awaited day of the 6th grade movie premiere was finally here. But, first, Mr. Cox and Mr. Hughes handed out the end of year awards.

Morgan and Brayden Howard received the highest girl and boy in Science.

Morgan was voted most likely to be a Principal. (Couldn't be for the fact that her Dad is the acting principal for the rest of the year! LOL)

All of the 6th graders with their class votes awards.

They each also received a Promotion certificate saying they survived the year and are now moving on from 6th grade to 7th. Wahoo!

Morgan and MaKenna put together a little something for their teachers from a few of the kids in their class.

Then it was movie time. The class loved it! Always so fun to do with them.

Before everyone left, we took a few class pictures.

Field Day

Field Day was on May 19, 2015. I was able to go volunteer as a member of the PTA.

One of the best moments of the day was when Gage wanted to give up and so many of the students ran with him and cheered him on, helping him to complete the race. It was awesome!

Morgan was there too. the 4th, 5th, and 6th graders went to the high school, and the lower grades did their own field day at the city park.

Zander competed in the high jump and made it pretty far. I think he was one of the last 5 kids in the competition. Looks hard to me! Lol

Morgan and McKenna Bennett were great cheerleaders all day. (I think the fact the team with the most sportsmanship won a prize basket for their class had a little to do with it.) They were almost at the point of driving everyone crazy. We had to tell them a few times to come up with a new cheer! Lol

The height some of these kids could get was pretty amazing! Made for some fun pictures anyways.

The girls even got Lindey involved in the cheerleading schemes.

2nd grade program "Hats"

Micah had Mrs. Atwood this year for 2nd grade. She kind of had a special bond with him because they were both the newbies in class. It was her first year teaching, and we just moved into the area.

Their program this year was entitled "Hats!" They did an excellent job showing us the different hats they could or do wear. I loved it!

Micah got to wear the beanie and be a burgler in the program. He was so cute sneaking across the stage and then running from the police officer!

Micah drew a picture of our family. I think they drew pictures of things they love. It turned out great!

Great job Micah-bug! We sure love you!

Kindergarten Program

Eli's Kindergarten program was on May 11th. Mrs. Barton did a fantastic job with our little cuties. I took this picture of Skye with Mrs. Barton for her mom. I babysat Skye after Kindergarten until school was over at 3 every day. She was fun to have around!

Mrs. Barton knelt down to get on Eli's Level and Eli figured he had to do the same thing. It was cute! We laughed. :) Thanks for being a wonderful teacher! Eli loved being in your class!

4th Grade Program

Zander's 4th grade program was held on May 7th, 2015. The kids got to run out as they were introduced. It was kind of fun!

They danced for us as part of the program.

And each had a speaking part. They also sang a few songs that helped them learn things like types of rocks, multiplication, etc.

After the progam they were able to show off their artwork. They drew pictures of their Moms to thank them for all their help in school this year. I loved it!

They also showed off their County report posters. They were able to tell us what they learned about the counties in our state! I even learned a few things! :)

Band Competition

Morgan was able to attend a band competition that was held at Emery High School. They joined up with the other 6th graders in the district. It was a good experience for them! Glad I was able to go and watch them perform!

At the end of their performance, they were able to have a Master Class from one of the other conductors. I always enjoyed doing those when I was in band. Fun to see what a different conductor will do with a song!

Lindey's Birthday

We celebrated Lindey's birthday with a quiet family party. Each year we have usually invited those who helped us when I was so sick after Lindey was born. This year marks the beginning of a new era. We no longer live by any of our angels, so we will party by ourselves!

Lindey loves Hello Kitty, so she got a lot of it!

We made Lindey a Hello Kitty cake. It turned out perfect!

Spring Band Concert

Morgan's spring band concert was on April 22, 2015.

She gets so nervous, but doesn't need to be. She is loving the clarinet!

Mr. Carroll is the 6th grade, and high school band teacher. John and him were roommates in college, so that has been a lot of fun being near him and his family again.

Great job, and another concert well played!

We were able to watch Zander play Little League. He is loving it! He is pitching this year, and has a good arm!

Scrapbook USA

I attended the Scrapbook Expo with my girls again this year. We love our girl's weekend--it's becoming something of a tradition. :) My mom usually joins us, and we meet up with these lovely ladies! This is one of my best friends, Kelly Perry. I just love her to pieces. I love that we can pick up where we left off like we just talked that morning.

Her family is so great. This is her sister Cicely.

We had to get a picture of Morgan with us. We were in the same ward as Kelly when we lived in Pleasant Grove when Morgan was teeny tiny. Kelly used to watch her for me and would teach her sign language to get jelly beans. ("More Candy Please!") Kelly has a deaf sister, so she is proficient!

My mom, Me, and my girls. We have so much fun! Love spending this time with Mom every year. It doesn't happen often enough. Glad we enjoy the same hobbies!

Lindey refused to stand by Elsa and Sleeping Beauty for a picture, even though she was excited to see them. She wouldn't even stand with Morgan for a picture! We made Morgan stand by herself instead. She was thrilled. Lol

Hiking on the Desert

We went hiking with the Olsen's over Easter Weekend. We hadn't ever been exploring out on the desert, so they were excited to show us some of their favorite spots.

The kids loved playing in this foundation.

Zander found me this heart shaped rock and brought it over to me. We opted to leave it there and take this picture to remember it. :) Love that my kids do that!

The kids also loved playing in this old cabin.

Eli had to have his picture taken on the roof.

This is an old Uranium mine. Pretty cool--even if it was mostly filled in.

6th Grade Dance Festival

The 6th grade Dance Festival was held on March 31, 2015. It was a couple of months later than in previous years, which made it nice. As a 6th grader, Morgan danced in it this year. John and Jodi's class were Zombies. Mrs. Lindley choreographed their dances. They performed to Thriller and the Electric Slide. So fun to see them excited and nervous to perform!

The kids all had fun turning their t-shirts into Zombie-wear. Who wouldn't want to cut up a t-shirt and put glow in the dark neon tape everywhere?

Morgan was also excited to get to see her Green River classmates. They participated in the Dance Festival as well.

They had black lights set up so they could turn the lights out. All the colorful neon tape on their clothes glowed in the black lights. Pretty cool!

After all the schools performed their dances, they let all the 6th graders out on the floor to dance together.

Morgan reunited with her Green River peeps. They were glad to see each other!

Wizard of Oz

The Community Theater put on The Wizard of Oz this year. John and the kids decided to try out for it. The kids got parts as munchkins, and John was cast as the Tin Man.

Ian was cast as a farm boy, and a Munchkin father. He had a few lines, which made him nervous. Lol He did great! Carol Stilson (John's secretary at school) played Aunt Em.

Zander got to play one of the Lollipop Guild. He loved it!

John amazed many in the audience as he had to hold still like this through almost an entire scene. He had so much fun playing the Tin Man!

Morgan got to be a tree and move the bridge in this scene with the scarecrow and Dorothy. In addition, she was an Ozian when the main characters made it to the Emerald City.

Morgan's tree costume was so fun to make! I saw this fairy sprite Halloween costume on Pinterest. I knew it would work great, and it did--I die cut the leaves out of felt and cut the shirt into strips. We may have to keep it for future use!

The stage crew manager and John would play jokes on each other. Okay, just Angela did to John. She is a huge BYU fan, and John graduated for U of U, so this little rivalry was born. Angela did all sorts of things! From wrapping his ax handle in BYU duct tape to putting a "Y" on the log so John would have to stare at it through this whole scene. It was quite funny to see what she would do next.

Ian was also a Jitterbug. I had to make his costume as well. Bug arms and make cheesecloth look old. Pretty easy to do!

Man, Ian was all over in this play. He also played a part in the Ozian Army. It was fun to see him in so many roles!

We had to laugh every time the Wizard costume came out. It started as a sheet over an umbrella and ended with a Mine-craft head and a cowboy hat. It was big and did the job, but wasn't very scary. More funny than anything.

John, Jake (Lion) and Sterling (Scarecrow) had so much fun together. They laughed so much the director worried they weren't going to have the play ready in time. The Theater Board did a great job in casting everyone where they did. It was perfect!

I was asked to help out with music and became part of the "Forkestra". There were four of us--two pianists, a violin and a flute. The music was crazy hard--and I only played the treble cleff! We had so much fun! I don't think I've laughed so much in all my life.

Aspen Bloomer was Dorothy. She was fantastic! John really enjoyed working with her.

John's brother-in-law, Wayne was cast as the Wizard.

The Rocket Car (instead of a hot air balloon like in the movie).

Natalie came up with the term "Forkestra"--because we aren't a quartet (only 3 instruments), there are Four of us, and we make up the orchestra. She even made us a fun Fork and Music banner for the pit.

Our friends, Greg and Heather came all the way from Green River to watch the play. So good to see them!

It was so many hours, and a lot of work learning music and memorizing lines, but it was also so, so fun!

Jason's Jr. Prom

We went to Jr. Prom Promenade to watch John's nephew, Jason. We went and sat by Suzette and Wayne. Jason was sporting the pink to match his date's dress.

His promenade partner was not his date. I'm not sure how they were paired up--I think we got to pick our partners when I was in school. I guess we'll find out in a couple of years when Ian gets to this point!

Love that he was able to find where we were sitting!

They did their dance twice which was fun. We were able to watch it again and catch things we missed, or get a few more pictures!

Scouts

We attended a Court of Honor for Ian on February 22, 2015. He received 5 badges! Way to go, bud!

These badges were started in Green River, and then finished here, after we moved.

Cooking, Emergency Preparedness, Camping and Personal Fitness.

He also earned his Geo cashing badge.

Proud of you, Ian! Keep it up and you'll have your Eagle in no time!

Zander's 10th Birthday

Zander turned 10 this year. He loves to play My Singing Monsters on his Kindle and wanted this little guy--a furcorn--for his birthday cake. Zander was ecstatic, so I guess I did alright! Ha ha.

For gifts, Zander got a magic hovering spaceship.

His own bag of what he calls "his special chips". Can you tell they are his favorite kind??

A grabber. He had one from the dollar store a while ago, and when it broke we weren't able to find him another one. This one is much nicer, and he is a happy camper, or grabber...or something.

He also received a flying UFO. He has wanted one for a while, so he was pretty excited to get one.

Valentine's Day

I love filling the little mailboxes for our kids each year. The kids don't need a lot, so these are the perfect size for a little something from mom and dad.

This year their mailboxes had a pad of paper with a pen, Valentine tic tac toe--complete with M&Ms, Mustache's (I mustache you to be mine!),and of course, candy hearts.

They also got a couple of bigger items to share--like this sidewalk chalk Spirograph. I loved those as a kid!

The mustache's were a big hit. Lol

Birthday Gifts From Grandma and Grandpa Hughes

Zander got to celebrate his birthday a couple of days early since Grandma and Grandpa Hughes came to visit before his birthday. They brought his gifts and got him...

socks! Yea!

Grandma got him an official BYU jersey. This kid is after her own heart. Go BYU!

It's a little big...lol.

First, Second, and Third Grade Spell-Off!

This year the lower grade teachers (1st-3rd) decided to have their own spelling bee since they don't participate in the district spelling bee.

Each teacher had their own classroom spelling bee and then the top 3 from each class went on to the lower grade Spell-off. Micah was one of the top 3 for 2nd grade.

As Principal, John was one of the judges for the spell-off.

Micah was nervous, but he did so well!

These 3 girls were the last 3 left--two first graders and a third grader. Lauren Mills (in the center) won the spell off.

All the kids did so well! Congratulations for making it!
