My overheating alarm has been going off once in awhile when I start to accelerate from idle. I have new thermostats and my water pump is still shooting out a good stream. I am starting my third season without changing it. I was going to change my poppet valve (pressure control valve). I hear it can be hard to unbolt and sometimes the head snaps off. Does anybody have any info or experience changing this? I was going to order one from SIm Yamaha.

Thanks

Well being the owner of 3 boats and not having my indoor storage anymore I just can't justify keeping my Maverick. I don't use her enough as you can see by the low hrs of 262. It has the Carbon/Kevlar VARIS (vacuum assisted resin infusion system) technology hull used on all Maverick HPX-V skiffs. No wood, no rot foam & core w/ premium resin. Aluminum fuel tank.

Ample storage in a large forward compartment under the casting deck and a rear dry locker area below the rear deck seat. Wide gunnels for walk around fishing. Loaded down with gear, ice and 2 people, draft is around 6-7 inches. It rides incredibly well, and can handle chop better than some larger boats. It's a soft ride that can get that skinny. The boat is capable in all the conditions I ever fished it in, ran it out of inlets and along the beach and it always did well. It's easy enough to pole and it spins easily. Super easy to tow with any vehicle and easy to store.

It has some unique options like the 4 lifting eyes in the cockpit from the factory that allow it to be lifted with a single davit. The first owner had it on the bow of his sportfisher always covered and used it as a tender/flats boat. It also has a super high quality stainless steel towing eye for pulling it behind your larger vessel. It has never been fished as a charter boat. Engine has always been flushed with fresh water and only rec90 fuel used. Always use Yamaha ring free in the fuel as well. Boat is super clean and never been abused. We have no children or pets, only my wife and I have been the main passengers.

Boat is super fuel efficient, I ran her 60 miles round trip from Islamorada out to East Cape, fished all day and burned only 10 gallons of fuel!!!

Only 262 hours

Specifications:
Loa: 15′

Im going to have new t top canvas made for my 2006 blue water 2550. Im attempting to remove the original taco outriggers that probably have never been removed and all the mounting hardware is corroded and seized. The allen heads are stripped. Ive tried bolt and screw extractors, Ive broken off two heads and on the rest the metal is so soft they just stop off more mental and chip. Any suggestions?

Anyone Try White Bottom Paint?

First - I didnt see a thread on this and wondering if others had white bottom paint and if they were happy with it.

I bought a new (older) boat to keep in the keys. It will be on a trailer but during my heavy use times Id like to leave it at the dock so I dont have to deal with launching when I go to use for a couple days at a time, probably keep in water 4-6 weeks between pulls.

I dont think a lift is in the plan this year as Id have to extend the dock and permits / wait time will be a long time. Not to mention the cost would be more than the boat.

So, I am thinking bottom paint but dread a dark color but white is the same as the hull. My concern is the scum and tannin staining making it look worse than going with a dark color.

Also, what about underwater lights, you cant paint those and guessing you just have to deal with cleaning.

Boat is a Bluewater 2350.

Garmin sent me the software update after I got this message firing up my Panoptix PS 30. No change. I swapped ethernet connection both on the same 7610xsv plotter and on the 2nd unit. No change. Must be power!
I checked voltage at the bus bar.....12.7v
I then went to the installer's splice from the "as supplied" power to his wiring to the bus bar. There was no voltage. No clue why.
I ran the red and black from a different source; confirmed 12v at the end and again connected to the "as supplied" power wire.
Still "PS30 not found". What??!!
What are the chances 1) no power supply and 2) unit defective in any event?
Or.....what am I missing? The unit was working before haulout and now...nada.
