I am not sure if my decision not to allow my sons to learn driving at an early age was wise. Back when they were teens, my brother wanted to teach them how to drive, but I said no. They had to wait to be 18. That was a long time ago. Fortunes have changed. Only one of my three can drive; and he too learned it late.

Today I think it is important to know driving. Much like swimming, one needs to be responsible to be a good driver. After all, the lives of your passengerd are in your hands.

Driving is not about being behind the wheel alone; it is more than stepping on the gas pedal and say go. It needs skill, concentration, focus, and discipline. I myself made a start but fear got the better of me.

However, I think it is a must that I start learning now. Formal driving lessons would be a big deal. Nothing better than a professional driver-teacher relationship with instructionals or the how to's; because there are rules, including discipline to follow; and to the letter. And let's not forget to practice with a professional; that should add to the comfort level. And as they say practice makes perfect.

So are we done with all the necessary nitty gritty? Time to get a driver's license. There are sample driver license tests that could help a qualified person pass the written and practical tests conducted by the licensing agencies. Maybe it's time that me and my sons get on with learning to drive. Yey!

Who wants a smart phone? Whether it's an android or an IOS driven phone, people these days can't seem to live without these ubiquitous gadgets. They have become a part of everyone's life. They say gadgets keep you connected when ever, wherever. I say I love the convenience and the accessibility.

So we have gadgets and goes without saying that these things need accoutrements as well; iphone cases and tablet cases too, screen protectors or skins, cables and connectors, battery packs and for my very own specific need; iphone 4 accessories , better start saving up for we all need to get updated from time to time.

Geewhiz, the web is full of sites where you can readily refurbish or accessorize your gadgets. But I would want a company that's foremost reliable, second a site filled with integrity, and delivers on their promises. Of course, customer testimonials would help. Also, great customer driven policies like no hassle exchange, order status feature, etc.

It is good to have a smart gadgets. And it is definitely better to get the accessories from Wireless Emporium. Thank you relatives for the gifts of accessories :-)

Pencil sketch yesterday

Just playing around down memory lane. Back when my kids were kids, aged 5, 7, 9 and 11. I was a very young mother of four.. working will all the joys and aches a mother normally goes through.

I found this picture editor on the web and has been trying to convert practically all my pics to pencil sketch mode. I wish I could print all of them. Well, mostly those I want to print are my photos.. what a narcissist :-)

Motherhood taught me that there's always light at the end of the tunnel. The real bonus is i now have grandchildren.

And looking back it was all worth it. Yey!

Mama in her 80's

We went to see my mother to greet her a happy birthday! She was really surprised to see us but seemed excited and I was soo happy watching her enjoy our presence.

Old age can at most times make one lonely. I should know. I am not too old but I have had the experience of making sense of life when it seems non sensical.

I look at my Mama and can see that see seemed to have lost some weight. Her glaucoma has her eyes are failing her little by little. Not having her usual eyesight prevents her going anywhere.

Whereas, she used to go to church a lot some years back, it now gives her the shivers to leave her comfort zone. I have time and again suggested that she take up to some kind of a tool to help her move around. But she won't hear it :-(

I look at her and I know she lived a life that's full. I am positive there's still time to bring her to places as soon as she gets that eye procedure we have been wanting her to have!

My grand daughter is going to be a flower girl

Weddings can really, truly be stressful. As soon as planning commence the headaches arise as well. There's a ton full of things to look after, to watch out for, to make the best of and to decide about. Thanks a lot there are wedding planners. Wedding planners have their staff continuously scouring the internet for suppliers they usually recommend to their clients.

Be it wedding ensembles like gowns, tuxedos, wedding bands, watters bridesmaids dresses, flowers, including the reception venue and weeding ceremonies venue, information is abundantly available online.The planners take on the evaluating. Someone mentioned about weddingtonway . Good timing there would be a need to buy a flower girl outfit soon.

June, this year will be the first major social event for my grand daughter as an actual participant. She was invited to become a flower girl in a relative's wedding nuptial. Her Mom is excited. So is everyone in the family. We want her to look stunning but not stealing the thunder from the bride. But hey, there are no rules against outshining the bridesmaids or the ring bearer and the rest of the entourage. She can be her pretty little self walking down the aisle throwing flower petals from her basket and we are ogling at her. That would be awesome.

Learn before the plunge

My son told me his interest about acquiring mutual funds. It has been his goal since he started working overseas - "just to make sure that his staying away from home will make some financial sense or benefit". The truth is my son has tremendously matured as a result of his living abroad. He now thinks seriously about me and his father, about our future and I feel good seeing him grow emotionally enough to feel he is somehow responsible for his parents well being now that they are starting to grow old.

He's been offered a whole lot of things: stocks, additional life and health insurance. What's good about him is that he studies everything, all the angles, the risks and the benefits before making a major decision. And that is definitely ideal.

I am glad that apart from making research from just about everywhere, he has also taught of getting more information from those who's had the actual experience of owning these financial instruments, who usually are friends and work colleagues.

After consuming the fact and fiction of investment instruments, he says he is now ready to take this much awaited calculated risk of a plunge. Yey!

Go Away Cortisol

Cortisol are hormones that bring about stress. We have it inside our bodies and are triggered by negativity.
So who wants stress? Not you. Definitely not me.

So why stress? A couple of reasons or conditions:

1. Emotional problems, such as unexpressed anger, depression, grief, guilt, or low self-esteem.
2. Relationship issues, feeling a lack of friendships or support in your life.
3. Major life changes, such as dealing with the death of a parent or spouse, losing your job, getting married, or moving to a new city.
4. Stress in the family, such as having a child, teen, or other family member who is also under stress, or being a caregiver to a family member who is elderly or who has health problems.
5. Conflicts with personal beliefs and values. For example, you may value family life, but you may not be able to spend as much time with your family as you want.

Other social and job issues that can cause stress include:

6. Surroundings like a living that's overcrowded, posing danger such as occurences of crime, pollution, or noise
7. Personal social situation such as being poor, feeling lonely, discriminated because of race, gender, age, or sexual orientation.
8. The job. Being unhappy with work or job too demanding.
9. Unemployment. Losing a job or not being able to find work.

My personal take? It reason # 1. Enough said. Stress alleviated somehow by just writing this post.

Anti-aging Activity

What is it about aging that makes one feel that time runs out as if nothing happened the whole day? My day is like clockwork. Morning breakfast preparations, partner off to work and I am left with my household and personal chores. Social networking keeps me occupied as well.

But one thing I discovered, I could still keep brain additionally busy by taking some online courses. And I did start one recently, hoping another course will open come first week of April. I am delighted. These courses will allow my mind to keep on working and that's a big plus to avoid my synapses electrified and energized.

My friend based in Australia basically does the same thing as I have done. Despite having her hands full with family, a job and her orchid gardening chores, she keeps herself busy with personal training courses at opencolleges.edu.au.

She said online courses offered at her school is what she needed exactly; take it at a time set by her, during her most preferred days. She says there's a wide range of courses that would suit anyone; someone just starting in life, in the middle of it, or perhaps someone who would want to move ahead in her job.

In fact, a reason is the last thing one should think of getting educated online or via distance learning, she says.
There's so many choices and lots of information are available at the OpenColleges updates.

I have talked excitedly about online courses to friends and I guess the excitement is getting contagious. So whether you get it free or pay reasonable tuition, is your call. The key is continue getting the minds working, because it is definitely an anti aging activity.

Hygienic and More Enjoyable Trip

To the rest room. True. It is possible to enjoy each and every trip to the toilet with a bidet. The whole elimination process is hygienic, warm if need be or the other way around, whichever fits the situation.

It is one bathroom fixture that I fantasize about adding to our bathroom. Bidets are not only hygienic, but environment friendly as well. Why? Because is saves paper and helps reduce electricity.

My first encounter with bidets are in five star hotels way back in the 90's when I did a lot of work-related travel. But today bidets are commonplace mostly found in newly constructed homes.

How does a bidet work and is there just one type? Bidets clean the anal and genital areas. Comfortably warm water streams shoot straight into the anus and vaginal areas to cleanse. No need to use toilet paper. Crap free.

There are ordinary bidets, bidet toilet seat and there are electronic ones. Bidet toilet seats are attached to the toilet so there's really no need for an extra toilet fixture on top of the usual toilet seat. Some bidets can even wash dry the peri-anal areas. There are others that can be operated with a remote mechanism or something that's hand held.
