Last night, for no good reason, Darryl Strawberry insisted to Donald Trump that he be fired from the Celebrity Apprentice.  He basically resigned.

Strawberry walked away without raising one solitary penny for his charity and probably lost the respect of every single New Yorker and anybody else who still remembers who he is.

I’m disappointed in you, man!

Ok, so maybe the show is rigged. Maybe Brett, Rod and the rest of the Rock Solid gang are complete douches. Maybe it is just another stupid reality show.

This wasn’t about that. This was about charity and you blew it!

You know the Donald isn’t going to forget about this. Neither is the rest of New York.

You quite while you were still ahead. Way ahead. That is unacceptable.

It looks like a portrait of Illinois’ disgraced ex-governor Rod Blagojevich will not be hanging in the capital with rest of the state’s former governors.

Unless Rod wants to pay for it himself.

According to this article from the Herald Review, the Illinois House “voted 85-23 to prohibit a portrait of a governor who is impeached and removed from office to be funded by the state.”

This has got to be a low blow for Blagojevich,  especially since former governor George Ryan, who is currently serving six years in federal prison for corruption convictions, has his portrait hanging proudly in the State capital building.

Ryan, however, took the prudent course of action and resigned before he could be impeached so his portrait will most likely stay right where it is.

If Rod wants to circumvent the new law and pay for a portrait himself, he’ll have to shell out some pretty serious cash.

Governor Ryan’s portrait cost over $18,000 of taxpayer money while former Illinois governor James Thompson’s cost around 15K.

Then again, Blagojevich did manage to make the cut again on Celebrity Apprentice this week.

That’s got to be worth a portrait or two, doesn’t it?

There is something very ‘unbikinish’ about the World Bikini Mud Wrestling final which was held in the Chinese province of Hainan over the weekend.

I suppose that by traditional Chinese standards, the girls are wearing very little. But can we really call those bikinis?

I guess we shouldn’t be too surprised. After all, people like this man, are still being fined in China for downloading porn to their computers.

Oh well. It was a nice try anyway.

When Representative Randy Neugabauer apoligized recently to Bart Stupak for shouting out ‘Baby Killer!,” he became just the latest example of a Republican apologizing for something that absolutely needed to be said.

Where do we get these gutless wonders?

Neugabauer should not be the one apologizing. Maybe his outburst was not ‘respectful’ or appropriate for the chambers but desperate times call for desperate measures. He was just expressing sentiments that are felt by the vast majority of the American people.

If anyone should be apologizing, it is Bart Stupak – the hypocrite, liar – and yes – baby killer – from Northern Michigan.

He doesn’t need to apologize to his constituents. This video from November shows a defiant Stupak telling constituents that he would vote for the bill whether it funded abortion or not.

Who he should be apologizing to is the entire Congress and the American people for unabashedly wasting our time on Sunday by leading us to believe that he actually cared about the lives of unborn children.

It was all one big show. All he cared about was the attention. There were no principles involved in his decision. The decision had been made months ago.

So why are you apologizing, Mr. Neugabauer? You spoke the truth about Bart Stupak and the rest of the baby killers who voted for the bill. You meant what you said and I’m glad you said it.

For his part, I think that Bart Stupak will get what is coming to him come November. After his big selfish show on Sunday, I cannot imagine that Democrats are too pleased either. He is an embarassment to the institution of Congress, to his constituents, and to this entire country.

Far be it from me to defend an evil regime but why are there so many idiots out there who think that it is okay to just waltz into North Korea anytime they want?

Like American Aijalon Mahli Gomes, for example, who allegedly entered into North Korea illegally in January. He is currently awaiting ‘trial.’

Or Robert Park, a U.S. missionary “who walked into North Korea on Christmas Day carrying a letter calling on leader Kim Jong-Il to free political prisoners, shut prison camps, improve human rights and step down.”

He was allowed to leave only after he ‘confessed’ that North Korea ensures religious freedom.

And let’s not forget about Euna Lee and Laura Ling – the two braniacs from Current TV who were standing in the river on the border of North Korea and China shooting video when they were captured.

Bill Clinton had to come and rescue them.

The point is, whether we like it or not, North Korea is a sovereign country and it has the right to defend its borders just like any other country in the world.

Having spent a considerable amount of time in that region, I will confess that the temptation to make a covert trip into the little Communist regime was tempting, especially when I had North Korean citizens offering to slip me in for a few hours.

It’s just not worth it.

Not unless you are a suicidal maniac who is willing to face torture, years in a labor camp, or worse.

If you are crazy like that, then go for it. Take a leisurely swim or leap over a narrow part of the river. In China’s deep countryside, getting into NK is as easy as hopping over a fence.

Just don’t expect us care when next we hear of you is on a shortwave broadcast from Pyongyang. Or if you are never heard from again period.

Yes, it would be nice if North Korea came out from its Stalinist shell. Maybe it will happen someday.

Until then, stay out unless you have a visa or you are willing to face the consequences.

It’s official! Bart Stupak played us like a fiddle yesterday by pretending to actually care about the lives of unborn babies when actually he was going to vote for the controversial bill all along. Here he is from November, 2009 caught red handed admitting that he would support the bill no matter what.

Despicable. Let’s just hope that his fellow ‘yoopers’ up there in Northern Michigan give him the boot this fall.

Let's Give Tiger Woods a Break

Everybody is after Tiger Woods this week.  Everyone’s a genius. Everyone thinks they know what happened. All of the racket being made on the blogs this week is embarassing and annoying. So let me add to the ruckus with my two cents worth.

I don’t care.

It’s not as if Tiger was a contender for the White House in 2012. It’s not as if Tiger was the pastor of a megachurch frequently railing against infidelity. Heck. It’s not as if Tiger was ever even much of a role model for anyone.

Tiger Woods is an athlete, nothing more and nothing less. Just like Kobe Bryant, Alex Rodriguez, Roger Clemens, David Beckham and other well known sports stars who have been accused of infidelity.

Whether the allegations about Tiger are true or false, should we really be surprised? Are we so naive to assume that just because he has usually managed to keep his private life out of the public eye that he is somehow the world’s best husband?

Give me a break. Give Tiger a break. This is just business as usual in the celebrity world.

Memo to all you bloggers out there writing ‘open letters’ to Tiger this week: Get a life! No one – least of all  Tiger himself – could care less about you or your puny little tirades.

Authorities say a dispute over a $40 video game started a tragic chain of events.

They just keep coming, don’t they? I’m not sure which story is more sickening – the one about the girl getting gang raped in Richmond or the more recent one about a boy being set on fire in Broward County, Florida. Each story is heartbraking; each story involves yet another young life being destroyed.

Today, standing in front of TV cameras, Sherry Jarvis, the mother of two boys who among others are accused of having doused 15-year-old Michael Brewer with alchohol and setting him on fire, apologized on behalf of her family. She was accompanied by her husband and two daughters.

“We’d just like to express how sorry we are,” Jarvis said, according to this article from CNN. The authorities in Broward County “believe that Brewer was attacked in a chain of events that began when he did not pay one of the five boys $40 for a video game.” A bike belonging to Brewer’s father was stolen, an arrest was made, and revenge was carried out on Brewer.

“This is a horrible incident never should have occurred,” said Jarvis. Michael Brewer is fighting for his life at University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital Burn Center in Miami.

I can sympathize with the shock that the Jarvis family must be going through right now but this wasn’t the right time to go in front of the TV cameras; especially not while this poor kid is hanging in the balance. The focus right now should be on doing everything possible to make sure that Brewer survives his horrific injuries.

A statement delivered via the print media would have been more sensitive and appropriate.

And why would the Jarvis parents have their teenage daughters standing with them for a statement like that? Were there daughters involved in what happened? Did they need to have their faces inexorably linked to this horrible event for the rest of their lives?

Please, just stay out of the limelight. At least until Michael’s condition has been upgraded.

In the meantime, my thoughts and prayers are with Michael, his family, and the family of the accused. It’s a mad world out there.

For a while, former Miss California USA Carrie Prejean seemed to be a rising star in the conservative arena. Her bold opposition to same-sex marriage excited many on the right – hearing our position on gay marriage from her  pretty lips was like a breath of fresh air.

And Perez Hilton’s childish temper tantrum about it later was just icing on the cake.

Today, CNN is reporting that the abrubt end to the legal battle between Prejean and the Miss USA pageant was “prompted by the revelation of a sex tape’, according to a source familiar with the lawsuits’ settlement.”

This latest revelation, of course, was not the first. Topless images of Prejean as well as other racy photos had already begun to emerge in May.

So – my fellow conservatives – Was defending Carrie Prejean worth it or did we prop her up on a pedestal a little too soon? Was it really a good idea to see her as our poster girl just because we salivated over a few sentences that she uttered at a beauty pageant?

We should have known better using a beauty queen to try to get our message across. What were we thinking?

And yes, I am sure that we can thank our good friends on the left for digging up these uncomplimentary images and video about Prejean.

That’s what they do best.

But if the allegations are true, then Prejean is a hypocrite and we all look like idiots.

The point is,  we can’t just go embracing every Tom, Dick, and Harry out there that says they are opposed to gay marriage. Maybe we should do a little of our own digging next time? Geez…

Memo to Carrie Prejean: Thanks for nothing. Oh, and about that new ‘tell-all’ book you’re touting? I hope it fails miserably even though I know it won’t because there are millions of guys out there just waiting to buy it so they can tear your photos out and do who knows what with them.
