Im back from Amsterdam, and of course, being me, I didnt get aaany outfit shots hahaha. I did get some nice photos, which I might post later, but here's an outfit post from this Friday, for school.

Random assortment of pictures from last week (and a little bit of this one too), 2 outfits, nails, and a dinner!

Simple outfit for class on Friday, I normally wouldnt post something so bland but I just got this top from H&M and Im in looove, so I wanted to show it.

Forgive the chipped bits, I tried taking pictures when it was 'fresh' but couldnt get clear ones in the bad light. I tried making a cloud mani ala this, but the glittery polishes made it look washed out and the cloud part doesnt show well:(

Another lazy outfit, but this one shows my Girl With Dragon Tattoo cardigan! I sat up waiting for the release to order this and some leggings and earrings. Its very warm and its got fancy holes for your thumbs too, I love it. It is, however, very 'casual', which a lot of the time isnt my style, so I opted for an acid wash tee and jeans to play with the casual look of it. I need to try out some more looks including this cardigan so it doesnt become indoor-wear only!

And this is the dinner, from yesterday! I made greek gyros (probably not very authentic haha), using seasoned in store meat, cucumbers, tomatoes, salad and pitas, and lots of tzatziki yum!
Sometimes I feel like we eat a bit bland, lots of broccoli and potatoes or rice, so its nice to try something new with new flavors and spices!

School outfit! I had my first math class today, how Ive dreaded this! Its too soon to tell how it will go, but at least today went okay, no big issues.
Im getting sick, and I can feel it in my body.. Im tired and stiff and sore, and when I woke up today, all I wanted was warmth warmth warmth. So I put on this sweater again, I know Ive worn it too much lately but it is very warm and comfy.
And I finally got pictures of these pants, they're so good! High waist, skinny and kind of cropped, will be perfect with my leopard flats in warmer months, and works just as well in boots now in winter.
And also, my new boots, Im in love. I want to wear them all the time!

What I had for dinner on Saturday, lamb with scalloped potatoes and broccoli. Nothing real fancy, the potatoes were ready made, just heat up, and the lamb was already marinated when we bought it. Cook it and eat it. Nom nom

New stuff

I bought some new stuff yesterday! I bought a pair of boots, something that is always a struggle to find because anything higher than ankle boots always have big gaps on my skinny ankles. These were cheap and they're lined with fake sheepskin, so they'll be nice and warm in the winter months!

The picture isnt the best but you get the idea. Low rubber heels, a buckle, great height.

Some cute spike bracelets (the spikes are rubber!) and a bone and thread bracelet.

New watch! Ive been looking for a watch for months, trying to find one with a small face and thin straps that werent too pricey, and this fits the bill! And, the strap can be replaced, as the face and strap was sold separately, and they had straps in about 10 different colors and finishes. Im probably going to go back and get a pink leather strap. I can also make my own!

These were cute! Ive been on the lookout for some tiny skull earrings too, the only ones I find are so big they cover the entire earlobe, which wasnt my ideal. These are perfect and at 25NOK (about 3$) they're a bargain, real silver too!

Shorts, in winter?

I wore my leather shorts yesterday, it felt weird^^ January isnt really prime shorts time in Norway. But I liked the outfit, the sweater is kind of too short to double as a dress, so I needed something under. I wore my lined, heeled booties with this, which I didnt get a shot of but Ive worn them so many times anyway.

I even braved the cold in my leather jacket! But actually I was only outside for 10 minutes tops, I just figured it was gonna be warm enough inside.

Rings. Liked the left hand getup, having second thoughts about the right hand ones. Too much?
Given how much jewelry I have, you'd think Id be a bit better at pairing them, but sometimes I just pick what fits on a finger and go, only to realize later it would have been better with one less, or two less, or even one more. Something to work on I guess!

What I wore to school on Friday.
This skirt is perfect with all black because its really hard to match with other colors! I wore this with my boots since I was in a hurry and it had snowed.

The skirt is Gina Tricot I think, sweater H&M.

I also wore black feather earrings but you cant even see them in pictures..

The scarf is from Gina Tricot too and its simply perfect. And super warm! Most of the time I come home and I dont even want to take it off, some days I dont;)

Brennsnut, or 'burn your nose soup', is an old Norwegian traditional meal. We usually make it after Christmas by using our fenalår (salted lamb legs, a salty cold meat that is really common during Christmas,k its similar to Italian prosciutto, but is, obviously, made of lamb instead of pork). Since lamb legs are not exactly the easiest to carve out, we usually end up with one or two with a good amount of meat left on them after Christmas. We soak them in water for a day or two, then boil them in water to create a salty broth. Then you pull the meat off the bones and make a soup with the meat, veggies and broth. You could alternatively make this with salted lamb meat if you dont have access to a fenalår or similar.

The process is easy, but takes time, if you're using salted, dried meats.
We started soaking the meat early Saturday, and made the broth Sunday evening, before I made the soup itself Monday afternoon.
The soup itself is easy, cut veggies (I used cauliflower, rutabaga, potatoes, carrots and leeks) into small cubes (about half an inch by half an inch is what I usually go for, that way you can have several veggies in one spoonful;)).
Remove the meat from the bones and discard the bones, tear and cut the meat up into smaller pieces. It will most likely just fall apart as you remove it from the bones, but certain bits are very long so I cut them in two or three.
Then combine everything in the broth and let it heat up, and simmer until every vegetable is tender, usually the rutabaga and potatoes take the longest.
Serve! This is good with a bit of good buttered bread!
Its a very hearty and warming soup, and its perfect for cold winter days.

I didnt include measures because the amount we make varies, but I had a full bowl of cooked meat, I'd say probably at least a pound, maybe even one and a half, and I used 6 carrots, 6 potatoes, 1 smallish rutabaga, 1 cauliflower head, and 2 leeks. As for the stock, Im actually not sure, but if you dont make it from soaked bones, you would just need enough to cover all the vegetables and meat. This made a LOT of food, we have 5 portions leftover that we froze, in addition to the 3 we sent to my grandmother, and the ones we ate. One very big pot of soup^^

This is a recipe recommendation, this recipe for a soup that tastes like lasagna is great!

Its rich and gooey and warming. And very filling! And the recipe makes a lot, so its great for freezing a portion or two.

Today we packed down Christmas. It is, quite frankly, my least favorite part about Christmas, so many ornaments.. I also went to pick up a key for my new job! Its the same chain, but a different store. And I will be wearing a uniform t shirt so Im not getting my hopes up for more outfits.

Yes indeed, I wore my leather jacket in January. Quite a difference from last winter haha!

Reindeer

On Friday I made a reindeer roast, they were on sale and if there's any reason to go all out, Christmas is it. Especially since I wasnt gonna spend NYE at home, a good dinner the day before seemed fitting. I had work so I got up way too early considering how late I went to sleep, and somehow managed to not only survive my shift, but also make a bomb roast!

Making roasts is one of my favorite things to do, apart from the stress that comes with having to make so many sides, roasts always have lots of sides!
I sprinkled the entire roast with sea salt and ground pepper, and in the oven it went for a little over 2 hours I think. Reindeer is incredibly tender and very gamey, I like it a lot!
For the sides I made some mushrooms, butter steamed broccoli, potatoes and a red wine sauce that I bought pre-made. Good food!
This year Im going to attempt to eat more and more varied vegetables, so hopefully I will be trying some new recipes and posting more food here. I make dinner almost every day for my mom and I, but we're kind of set in our ways and there's a lot of repetition, so not much ends up here. I'll try to fix that!!

Its 2012! Time flies by, its almost scary. Here's what I wore to party it up all night.

Velvet dress and fleecelined tights. I was way too hot for my friends house, they had a fire going all night and we were all basically sweating bullets.

Ive given up on trying to get good pictures. If you have something against mirror pictures, you're welcome to unfollow now because I suspect there might be a good few of them in the coming weeks, as the weather doesnt seem to let up, and there's only about a good 5-6 hours tops of actual daylight right now. So, mirror pics it is! :p

A better picture of my new haircut too! The top and belt is H&M, skirt Cubus and the necklace is from Indiska.

I wore it with booties and my new coat from the Girl with the dragon tattoo collection from H&M! I got it from my aunt for Christmas, and its the perfect coat! mostly wool and very nice, sleek cut. Ive been looking for a 'clean' coat like this for ages to have an alternative to my cutesy coat with puffy sleeves and flared bottom and this fits the bill 100%!

Oh how the mighty have fallen. I mean, bathroom mirror pictures? But, to my defense it was 6pm and there's no natural light outside by then! I wore this today for dinner at my grandma's house, as she turned 89 (!!!) today. Fish balls in white sauce and a smorgasbord filled with yummy food! And, as per tradition, Dinner for One at 9pm^-^

What I wore yesterday for school and then work.

Apparently my black jeans are fading real bad.. should probably try to dye them or something.

Exam attire

I had my first of 3 exams before Christmas on Monday. I did okay! We met up early to do a last minute study effort, then headed to the school we were taking the exam at and basically just waited. They took forever, what should have been 30 minutes prep + 30 minutes exam turned into 45-50 minutes prep + 40 minutes exam for each of us (7 of us, but the first girl was out of there quickly), the last ones werent finished until 9pm or around there. I decided to wear something kind of nice to give a good impression but eventually wished Id worn something simpler to wait around in a hallway in..

And I did wear makeup and brushed my hair, but since I got home fairly late I took this picture the next morning instead. Looking worn and tired hah.

Did some nail art too, before I had to cut all my nails down due to several breaks earlier this week. Im not used to working with short stubby nails so I dont know if I'll be doing any fancy stuff right away haha

Black to dark pink gradient. In reality this was much more muted, but this picture shows how I wanted it to turn out!

This manicure was very not-me, but I loved it! Took forever to do (placing each tiny pearl individually takes time haha) but it lasted a long time and anything sticking out like this is so much fun to wear haha XD and I got some use out of my crazy nail art stash!

There's a reason Im on a permanent nail polish or anything polish related shopping ban;) And Im not even a nail polish blogger!

Wow, how embarrassing, my last post was over 2 weeks ago.. But the worst part is that Ive actually taken and edited and uploaded pictures for three posts in those two weeks and simply forgotten to post them. Whoops! I got a new leather jacket, finally! My old one is actually peeling apart, its faux (so is this new one) leather and actually lasted me a good 3 or 4 years so I guess thats a good thing. The new one is H&M as well, I got it on 50% off sale in addition to it already being very very cheap, score!
So here's what I wore to get soaked yesterday. It was all nice and sunny before I left and then the skies opened by the time I was going home, as usual.

Boots from SkoPunkten, jacket and tank top H&M and jeans from BikBok. I wore my animal skull necklace and most of my favorite rings, I forgot a picture but they've been posted so many times by now, its nothing new haha!

And I must have done something to the camera again, its all blurry. I need to learn to check the pictures better before I finish up and go inside.

Long time no post! Its been raining almost non-stop for a few weeks, which usually means Im not wearing anything fancy. Jeans and a sweater and a big ol' rain coat. And it also means its hard to get pictures of the actual outfits since I usually take them outside and well.. Its raining. Ive taken a few snaps on my cell phone, and I even used the timer on it on Tuesday. So here's an assortment of terrible phone pictures, including bathroom mirror shots! Hopefully I'll be back to business soon.
