Being a frequent highway traveler with my old and faithful national car (I try to be a proud Malaysian), I try as much as possible to avoid getting any speed summons (if only I knew where they locate their speed cameras).

Having 50% currently, I am trying my luck to verify thatI dont have any summons.

Pathetically, this is what I get from Rilek.

How frustrated can the rakyat (me) be?

We should also penalize them for not setting up the correct bandwidth for us -> Summons waive if the Rilek page is not able to display anything.

Yummi Delite at Kulim CRC (Chinese Recreation Club)

I was taken to go round the kulim area (probably used the longer route) and was brought to this place, Kulim CRC (Chinese Recreation Club). There is a shop which my friends did not know the name, but we conluded that it was Yummi Delite (Coffee House) based on the receipt given.

Price is reasonable. Drinks are less than RM2, and a plate of jawa mee was RM3.30.

And, they are famous for their Jawa mee!

Donate Blood - Saves Lives!

My Hb reading was 12.8g/dL (passing rate is > 12.8g) today.
I was glad that I passed as a Blood Donor!

It's one of the many reasons that I didn't mind to stay chubby, as most small sized people don't really pass the requirements of a blood donor. (it's either they are underweight or with low Hb)

Now, we have McDonald's (Music: pappa - rap - pappa) just beside Kulim Landmark! (Off Jalan Keladi)

It's just the second day since its opening on 1-Dec-10, and there was a huge breakfast crowd at 10am!

I was surprised with the McDonald's signages along the roads as I exited to Lunas from the BKE toll.

No wories of getting lost in Kulim - Just follow the Mcdonald's signage. :)

I enjoy Church visiting.
It was one of the Sundays that I thought I should visit another church.
It was a small church with a congregation of less than 100. I didn't manage to do a count, but I think, it was about 50ish.

I was exactly on time. The usher greeted my friend and I and asked if we were first time visitors. Since It was a small church, I guess, it's easy to spot visitors.

They had all a church should have.
Music, Tambourines, dancers, worship team and even a mother's room. It has been a real long time since I heard loud sound of shofars and the tambourines being struck.
But, I felt as if I was in a church in the yester-years since it was still using the over-head projector (OHP).

The pastor reminded me the importance to proclaim and believe.
These are the words he said,

"Malaysia is the best country in the world, and
Penang is the best state in Malaysia".

So, I should also tell myself,
"I am the most beautiful woman in Penang (also in Malaysia, and the world)."

Both of us have our versions of 'The BEST'.

After all, we are ALL beautiful in God's eyes, as God created man in his own image.
All in all, what we see we are is what we perceive ourselves.
So why worry about having that muffin top while wearing one of our favourite Jeans? Or the extra wrinkle or acne scar or even pigmentation (I had one!)?

God had given us the assurance that we are looking good as God sees our heart and not the outward appearance.

Ching Han Guan Biscuits from Ipoh

Whenever I go Ipoh, it's always Heong Piah, Dimsum, Salted Chicken and Chicken Hor Fun. Someone offered me Ching Han Guan's Meat Floss Lotus Paste yolk biscuit and the combination was just INCREDIBLE!

They had all my favourite ingredients all in the biscuit. Get me one box if you are going to Ipoh!

Set dinners at the Sun (Macalister Road, Penang) is RM38nett. Since it was a birthday celebration, by presenting our ICs on our birthday month, there will 20% off from the set ordered. That would probably cost around RM30.

Portraying as a Difficult customer

Few days ago, I had a funny dream.
I dreamt of myself going back to Malacca, a place where I spent for two years.

I went to a shop, and bought ice cream. Apparently, I was allowed to scoop my own flavours and pay based on the amount I took. I think it was RM4.90. I paid and I ate. Then, I was told that they had the wrong pricing (should be more expensive). I screamed and made a scene at the restaurant demanding for the person in charge to speak to me. Nobody bothered. The waiters hid behind, at the kitchen.

Then I thought again, could it be because I had an expensive homemade gula melaka ice cream at Kopi Cine? I told the waiters that the prices shown are overseas prices. (harga seperti berada kat luar negara). And, there was a chinese lady who had a very stern look.

Both linked pretty well. Ice cream + Melaka + expensive + mad lady (I turned into a mad lady).

And, it still bothers me, I was about to leave Melaka, and I have yet to visit Mahkota Parade. Have I been thinking to much of visiting 1st avenue and Straits Quay? Both malls/places opening on 26th Nov 2010.

Kopi Cine 珈啡电影 + Bon Ton The Shop

It took me a while to figure out what "Cine" is.

Should it be "Cine" as in "shine" or should it be "cine" as in "sini".

I was wondering, why are there chinese characters? And what does the chinese character says? It says "Jia Fei Dian Ying", which means, Coffee + Cinema.

So, I concluded that it was a coffee place for movies (or perhaps, for this case, slight reading). The place should be pronounced as, Kopi Cine (as in cine-ma).

This cafe is situated right behind the Kuan Yin temple, the junction of stewart lane, Penang. Never would I expect such a gem behind the alleys of old prewar shop houses.

There were many buncho crayons on the shot glasses for us to scribble on the piece of mahjong paper laid on the table.

Since Straits Quay or either Blue Reef was not opened, we decided to try on the food at Kopi Cine (Why did Bon Ton The Shop appeared?).

It says, "Today's special Chicken Pie".
We walked in and asked what was the current promotion. They said the Pie!

But, they dont' have Chicken pies. Instead, it was beef pie. So, why didn't they rubbed it off and just write "Beef Pie"?

I was reading another blog that the Pie costs RM20. Now it's RM25. Price Hike.

Parmesan Chicken Schnitzel - RM34. Very small piece of chicken.

I'm not being a pervert. But it made me think, if farmers those days wear clothes.

Gula Melaka Ice Cream with Banana, Banana Bread & Honey Sauce

Ice cream really tasted GOOD!! creamy, soft and sweet..

Affogato (vanilla ice cream, espresso shot + Frangelico shot) - The taste was indescribable GREAT.
I've never tasted such great affogato before. It had a bitter-feel, sweet and flaming taste, and I call it 3in1 taste!

Simple meal and it already costs > RM100.
We had an enjoyable evening looking at the period chinese lady and two entertaining waiters.

I just got to know that Straits Collection is almost like a boutique hotel, with numerous rooms all over the heritage area of Penang.

Former Penang Chief Ministry - Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu - RIP

Just a month ago, I asked my mom, if our former Penang CM, Dr Lim Chong Eu was alive, since he has not been in the limelight for a very long time. The very next day, I saw that the newspaper reported that he was unwell and was admitted.

And, today, I read the news, that he has passed away on 11/24/2010 due to stroke.

Should Penang declare a state holiday?

Boston Cafe (又一城) in KULIM!

Since its opening last week at Kulim Avenue, Boston (又一城) restaurant has been overwhelmed by the lunch crowd of Kulim Hi Tech office workers. Currently, there is a free drink promotion (only tea, coffee or mix (Yin Yong)) until end of this month. Hurry UP!

I wanna have my second cup of free drink... Just order anything and every customer would be entitled for a free drink.

Food is almost the same as the one in Penang, just that the service was exceptionally slow after 12pm.
(Things usually works perfectly fine on a slow day)

Baked Rice with a different spelling serviette (Bosston) RM9.95

I Liked the sambal.

Chicken Ham and Egg Burger with Fries- RM7.95

The burger bun was bad. I prefer McD's muffin bun.

The bun's texture showed there it was bought cheaply from some hypermarts (very bad dough).

Could see the layer of oil from the fries = fattening.

French Toast RM4.95

I like french toast. I never would have enough of it. But, i think the bread and the toast was not done too well today.

Compared to Old town Kopitiam, IMHO, I prefer Boston for its food.

Compared to Master Choo (at Giant), I prefer Boston for its distance.

Since there is much not options left, I think people would still go for Boston, despite the fact that menu isn't cheap for Kulim's standard.

Review: Langkawi Nature Tour

I just got to know recently that Penang.cc (Penang Community Centre) has a Blogger’s Appreciation Programme, "Travel With A Green Heart Campaign", sponsored by Langkawi Saga Travel & Tours, which basically, to create awareness on our environment.

My usual visits to Langkawi is mainly for relaxation and food, but this time, I was able to admire the nature that God has created, moreover, it is sponsored by Penang.cc. Moreover, since I'm a local, I hardly engage with the local tours to visit places.

My friend, Pei and I had a chance to travel together with five other bloggers.
(Now, all my pictures has her face all over in this blog post)

Getting there
Since it is a local tour departing from Swettenhan Pier, we drove and parked our cars there.
For non-locals, there do have hotel pick up arrangements.

It was almost a 3 hour ride getting to Langkawi Island, but the 8.15am boat would stop at Payar Island first. As soon as you reach Payar Island, you would be able to see a bunch of shirtless beach boys waiting at the platforms. It took another 30 mins to reach Langkawi.

Eating there

We reached at the Jetty point and we were greeted by our van driver. Very quickly, we headed to the The Royal Langkawi Yacht Club for lunch at Charlie's Place.

Needless to say much, it was great ambience, overlooking the yacht parked at the club. The club has a variety of western and chinese cuisine. The focus was not really on the food, but more of the view, and we were seated at the platform on the sea.

First Destination: Oriental Village - Langkawi Cable Car
Dessert missed to hurry for the Langkawi Cable Car / Suspension bridge at the Oriental Village.

We walked and marched and arrived at the ticket counter. Sadly, we were told that there was some technical problem that they had to halt the cable car service for at least for an hour or two.

It always happen.

Sometimes, due to the weather condition, it just wouldn't want to move!

It happened to me during my last visit to the suspsension bridge, that the weather was bad, and all I see was just mist and mist all over the area.

Else, there will be some fun hiking and walks up at the Gunung Mat Cincang.

Plan A failed.

Don't worry, there was a PLAN B.

Second Destination: Langkawi Underwater World

We went to the Langkawi Underwater world!

A couple of years ago, the sea creatures in the waterworld were poisoned and all died. Am glad that its back again!

I have always fancied penguins (lots) and have always wished to see them in action.

Problem with this place was everything was behind the glasses.!! (except few animals like the parrot).

I wished I could touch and feel and communicate with them in the sea world...

It was a short 1 hour tour since it was a small place (the fee was quite expensive though - RM38 for walk-ins). I sort of left earlier for some chocolate shoppings at the Zon, though the tour guide did not encourage us to shop (afraid that we might end up spend hours choosing and browsing other products).

I was really running late, and forgot to snap more pictures, and I tried hard to shoot from the back of the van, but failed totally.

Third Destination: Kilim Karst Geoforest Park
Then, we went to Kilim Karst Geoforest Park for caving and eagle feeding.
During the boat ride to the cave, the tour guide explained how Langkawi was able to survive tsunami due to the mangroves grown (and also the water barriers build). Not only that, we were able to appreciate the river alongside, which got widen due to erosion.

We went to Gua Kelawar (Bat Cave), which was a limestone cave. It was dark and were shocked looking at the expressions of the bats at the ceiling of the cave. At the same time, I was pretty much afraid of some naughty bats droppings!

Sad that there were not much conservation and preservation as seen in other countries. We are so rich with land resources and we are taking things for granted. I hope our government would look into this matter.

Boat ride got a little more exciting when the driver started to speed with waves of river water splashing on my camera lens. We headed to another place for eagle feeding (with KFC)! That day, the eagles were quite full that they refuse to eat their baits.

We went to a fish farm. There were friendly sting rays and other fishes.

It was my first time seeing SPITTING FISHES (archer fish).

The other way to feed the fish was using covering the bread with our fingers.

After all the spitting and feeding and drinking (oops), we headed back to the Eagle Square, which is situated next to the Jetty Point.

Langkawi was named after the Eagle (Burung Helang).

Shopping There
Oriental Village is one of the best place to shop for souvenirs, while the Zon/ Coco Valley is the best place for chocolates and duty free products like alcohol and tobacco.

And, it was time to say bye-bye to Langkawi. Dining KFC at the freezing cold boat back to Penang. We didn't had any jackets, we improvised our hand towels as our shawls :)
The best part of the boat ride was the amazing sunset and moon view, while escaping ourselves from the cold air con in the boat.

I was home, tired and salty (due to the seawater)
