Hi there!

It's a gray morning here in Durham, ON and I'm still in bed snuggling with my 9 month old, it's a PA day today which means the 3 yr old is home and mentally I am saying get up and make waffles for breakfast and a green smoothie but my body has plans to stay in bed all day! Ha! Wish I could do that but alas I'll get to those waffles!

So lately with the 9 month on the move, I haven't had much time to paint, and hopefully I'll be able to soon, I'malso currently trying to get my devotional blog running on a daily basis and thinking about the fact that my time at home with the kids will soon be up and then back to the 9-5.

I've spent a lot more time at home since fall started and have been able to hang a few art around the home which always brings motivation and smiles.

I'm also currently dreaming up a new color palette for my winter batch..

There's no secret that I love a good Parisian themed home. Throw in some unique and amazing art, the ever popular gilded mirror some amazing millwork and for a twist, some artistically designed furniture and voila you've got some major eye candy!

I'm dreaming up a scheme for my dining/living room and these photos from Elle Decor are giving me major inspiration right now!

AGO Favorites

Last week I decided to take a trip with my girls to the Art Gallery of Ontario, it was way overdue and I figured my eldest should be old enough to appreciate art in various forms right? Well sort of; she found it exciting running in the open spaces like she was in a gymnasium.

and although that was not the plan I had in mind, she did absolutely give me joy when she chose a lovely Warhol Print from the shop to take home.

As for me, I thoroughly enjoyed every bit - the Picasso pieces and photography capturing the aftermath of nuclear explosion were simply breathtaking and were some of my favorites.

I will most likely be taking a single trip again soon, you'll probably find me - pastry & coffee in hand (a la Holly Golightlyin Breakfast at Tiffany's) staring at Antigonous in the storm by Joseph Wright of Derby, this moody piece is absolutely a fav!

Good evening! It's been a while since I've posted, I've been busy with my health blog Fig & Pear ,running around with my two girls and preparing for my up and coming Art Open House next weekend which is super exciting! So this evening as I sit here trying to put my 2 month old to sleep, I decided to create a mood board of my current passions, these colors will eventually make it's way onto a canvas for sure... I'm also currently digging the modern "clean lines" look, black & blush, grays and creams and plush plump florals.

I love posting on Instagram and also viewing the lovely artistic photos that float around my feed, such amazing colors to see, such fantastic and talented people behind the photos.

If you don't know by now, I adore the color blue! (Hence the "Indigo" in my blog name). Within the past few weeks my feed has also become a little happy place for me filled with pretty inspirational blues.. I just thought I had to share, hope you enjoy!

@NectarandStone Has become a fav Instagram of mine, she creates the most magical desserts anyone has every seen, a combination of all sorts of chic colors, not to mention her signature gold leafing.

This marble combo of grays, teals, whites are so sophisticated!

@ZincDoor's Post of this lovely royal blue door is just everything! Such an amazing pop of color against the white walls..chic chic!

@badgalriri is working that deep blue dress made by the one and only Zac Posen...go on girl rock that dress!

I've been following @Lukeshadbolt and @Garypeppergirl because they continue to amaze me with deliciously vivid photos that just pop out of the screen. This teal water makes me want to dive right in.

@JossandMain just had to serve up this lovely Indigo velvety sofa on their site...so lux!

Slow Cooker Recipe: Lentil Soup

Because I will soon become a mother of 2 and because I already cook 3 different types of meals (that includes one for myself) for my family, I've decided that I need to find an easier, faster way to make healthy foods that I can divulge in without putting in the hard work.

Earlier this week, I decided I needed something healthy in my body after giving in to unhealthy pregnancy cravings all week. Lentils were in the cupboard along with some handy ingredients to make this soup come to life.

As of right now, I am eternally grateful to whomever invented the "slow cooker". This handy device saved me lots of time and effort and even made me look at peas in a different light.

Here's what I threw in the slow cooker:

p.s. I did not measure any of the ingredients, so use your discretion when adding these ingredients

Lentils

Water

1/2 teaspoon of Sea Salt

2 Sprigs of Rosemary
1/2 of Chopped Garlic
1 Cup of Chopped Mushrooms
1/2 Cup of Chopped Onions

A Sprinkle of Seasoning Salts or vegetable bouillion cube

You can also add: white or sweet potatoes for more of a hearty soup.

Forever and will always be a fan of black trim windows especially in a naturally lit kitchen, throw in the marble countertops and it's a kitchen dream come true!

Vegan Mushroom Soup with a twist

On Christmas day I decided that I must have portabello mushroom soup for lunch. I had no clue how I wanted to make it but I knew it had to be creamy and very flavourful.

I must say it turned out even better than I expected, and my special ingredient that put it all together? Ginger!

Add to the pot:

8 chopped Portobello Mushrooms

3 cups of Almond milk

2 tablespoons of vegan butter

1 teaspoon of Pink Himalayan sea salt

1 sprig of rosemary

1/2 teaspoon of thyme

1 teaspoon of garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon of cayene pepper

Freshly diced ginger

(For thickness you can add coconut or any other flour.)

Boil, Blend, Garnish and serve

Voila

Bon Appetit!

Vegan Buckwheat pancakes with strawberry sauce

These are absolutely delicious when topped with mouthwatering strawberry sauce! I created this from scratch with little to no measurements so I'll try my best to give you some sort of measurement guideline.

Here we go:

1 1/2 Cup of Buckwheat Flour

1 Cup of Water

3 tbsp. of Ground Flax Seed

1tsp of ground cinnamon

3 tbsp. of natural sweetener (you can use agave, honey, cane sugar etc. I used honey)

1/2 Cup of mixed dates and or raisins or bananas

-Mix until consistency is smooth

-Add Coconut oil to frying pan and heat on medium

Berry Sauce

Slice or finely chop a handful of strawberries or various berries

Place in table spoon of water in a small pot on the stove add honey

Cover and let simmer for a few minutes

I assure you my measurements and instructions will get better with time. IF you try this recipe let me know how it goes!

One Room Challenge: Project Little Blue Room -Wk 6

Linda from Calling It Home created a magnificent platform for designers, decorators and design bloggers to challenge themselves by transforming one room in 6 weeks. and now we have come to the end of what I must say was a very amazing experience!

I enjoyed every bit of my journey and being a part of the One Room Challenge has taught me patience & has given me more confidence in making the absolute best design decisions.

Perusing through countless blogs and seeing the amazing progress each and every one of the participants made was an absolute delight. Can I just say that there are so many awesomely talented decorators/designers out there?!

Decorating with budget restrictions was definitely a challenge! In fact, I had a ZERO budget and ZERO decorating rules, I made this room work by using items around my house and creating art. I hope that I will be on a much grander budget next time so that I can be free to play!

Well, here is my Little Blue Room now turned into an office/guest room.

( I must warn you I am no photographer and couldn't even get the whole room in one shot!)

Happy Sunday: Last week in review

What a lovely day it is today! The sun is shininnig bright and I am just very fortunate to see such a magnificent day.

Here's what I was up to last week:

Monday I was back on a plane to Toronto from a little 4 day vacation in Miami, I took a few lovely photos that I will be adding to our online studio...

and speaking of Studio we are now live and currently selling a few prints from our first limited collection. The Miami line will be out within the next month or so...

This is week six of the one room challenge and I was looking at all the other amazing talented entries and I must say I am really, really impressed, especially all these textures and patterns.

One Room Challenge: Project Little Blue Room Week 5

Week 5?!!!

Officially in Panic mode!

For those who are just joining my journey, I've entered a little project called The One Room Challenge you can view last weeks post here! We have 6 weeks to design, decorate and transform one room. I had a delightful idea to finally redo my guest room and now at week 5 I am sort of veering away from my original plan.

It all started with this lovely plan.

I decided I would make cute little art pieces and frame them in black frames.

Until I took a little 4 day trip to Miami.

Now I have a few lovely photos that I am dying to frame...

and this post from The Decorista solidified that I must do black and white photos!!

Sigh...This must all be completed by this weekend and I am SO ready for the challenge! Check back next week for the final reveal

One Room Challenge: Project Little Blue Room Week 4

Well here we are once again at the home stretch of the One Room Challenge. and I am still feeling pretty optimistic about my plans. If your just joining me read all about the past few weeks on this project here.

So this week I had a few challenges. I didn't like any of the art ideas I previously mentioned and was feeling a bit frustrated because I didn't know what direction I wanted to go. I decided to do something a little different. I created simple art out of cold pressed watercolor paper, I must say it turned out pretty well.

I thought I would have been able to finish the pillows this week but it doesn't look like that's happening anytime soon..For a visual, I wrapped the material over some old pillows so you can see what it will look like.

I still desperately want to use this paper somewhere in the room, where, I don't know yet.

Thinking of decorating the desk with art and this lovely elephant or maybe I might just keep it simple... decisions, decisions!

Happy Easter Sunday beautiful people! Hope your enjoying this wonderful day in celebration of Christ's resurrection!

Here's a little peek of what I've been up to last week!

A week ago we celebrated our daughters second birthday, I kept the dessert table very simple by decorating with with tulips and 3 tiered trays filled with a few Easter cookies for dessert. and of course Moscato for the Adults :)

As you of course know, I've been busy with the One Room Challenge and this week I'll reveal the art I have chosen for the main wall and the progress on my DIY Pillows!

I am currently loving round mirrors at the moment they just give a really amazing statement in any space

My online Art & Photography Studio will launch prior to the launch of my site so be on the look out for a few of my fav art pieces for sale.

Currently packing & getting ready to spend a few days in the sunshine can't wait

ORC Week 3: Project Little Blue Room

Hello hello. We are at the halfway mark of the One Room Challenge and once again I am going to show you the progress of "project little blue room" If you haven't been following along, click here to see what it looked like last week.

So I've finally added the vintage desk to the other side of the room and I am L-O-V-I-N-G it! I think the best use of this space would be double this desk as a vanity for guests. I've added a gold mirror and may or may not add more art surrounding the mirror.

I was able to place one light hanging from the ceiling and I must say mi likey!!

Ok folks I need your help, which art should I choose canvas art or framed print art?

And if framed then which one? Gold or black?

And here's something I'm DIY-ing.... a few throw pillows! these will be the lovely colors (that color you think is pink or magenta isn't..it's purple folks!! Promise It'll look more purple in the final reveal!

We're almost there..the excitement is oh so real and very much alive!
