As always with Windows and Internet Explorer things can get hard and complicated.

That’s why Angie and I slaved away to make it easy. (and the $64,000 development team helps…)

1. Click this link: HerculesFX you’ll see something that looks like the image below: (if the picture is hard to see, click on it to make it bigger)

2. Click on “Run” you’ll see something like this:

3. Hercules FX will be ready to use in minutes!

If you use Fire Fox (or Safari, Chrome, Oprah, etc.) You still Click this link:  HerculesFX you’ll see something that looks like the image below:

2. You click on the “save file” button then…

3. Then, look at your keyboard.  There is a key at the bottom with Ctrl on it  (that’s the Control key, by the way.)

You want to press that key (the Ctrl key), hold it down and then press the “j” key.  Its in the middle, next to the “h” and “k”.

You will see something like this:

“double click” (that means click twice, really fast) on the word setup.exe (that’s where the big red circle and arrow are in the picture above)

You’ll see something like this:

Then (finally!) you will see this:

If you are registered, please click the “Already have a Username” button.(not the one above, the other one)

If you are a New User, please click the “New Users Click here” button. (not the one above, the other one)

Maybe it was getting back to my trading this month after my Dad’s passing in April…

Perhaps it was my recent study of the man.

Either way I was surprised about how impacted I felt by Steve Jobs’ death.

I didn’t even know the man – well, I knew him how hundreds of millions of people knew him; by his products.

Perhaps it is my admiration for his work, how he built the company, and what he thought about the impact both have on the world…

One quote, among the tens of thousands flooding the web:

“Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do,”
“If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it. And, like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on.”

I thought it fitting, as I’m stepping back into my work, what I love to do.

So, where have I been and what happened to the emails, videos, and support sessions?

To make a long story short, I took a hiatus after my Dad’s death — at first as an act of discipline. I found as the months passed a certain ‘relaxing into it.’ So much so a friend had to practically beg me to get back to trading. I just didn’t feel the NEED.

What was remarkable to me was it’s absence, the attachment.

The market isn’t a HAVE TO.

Like, I HAVE TO get to the market.

The market is open I HAVE TO get to my desk.

One of the things I loved most about my Dad was the way he was just so happy and positive about life. I remember sharing a particularly difficult situation I was experiencing. After my story was finished, he just said “I guess sometimes you have to take the good with the bad.”

This while he was emaciated, dying of a similar cancer that took Steve Jobs’ life.

Amos Hostetter (of the world renowned Commodity Corporation) made the 6-month hiatus mandatory for all traders. Now I see the wisdom of it. (thanks Amos, I owe you another one)

Now that I’m back, you can expect some things to stay the same – and much that needs to change. There will be plenty who would rather things stay like “they always were” – these are the types Jobs took out of his mind when leading his company to greatness. After all, which of us just knew we could use an iPhone, or iPad?

So, to some, the changes will be too much to bear. I expect even long-time Members to be in this group.

Not in a deliberate sort of way, rather like the horse-and-buggy crowd or the “nobody will pay extra for FedEx” some will just rather have it “the way it was”. To them, thank you for your Membership – I wish you well.

For the rest I’m eager, relaxed, and excited to be back at what I love at what I sincerely desire you to consider great work.

This is one of those “forgotten” stories from that day, now 10 years ago.

Why the warning?  Because we should all remember our parent’s suggestions at getting along with each other (I’m reminded each morning at about 6:45am when my two boys start sharing their opinions with each other…)

Hi Ian,

You’re making a common mistake. To equate capitalism to “a system that puts profits before people” is to make a connection that is simply not there.

Capitalism does NOT equal “morality.”

There is no other system in the history of our planet that has generated as much freedom, wealth, or met peoples’ “needs.”

This is NOT to say Christianity.

This is NOT to say “the American way.”

The “mindless drive for profits” is NOT capitalism – it is a moral issue between men.

Do we need more regulation?  There are, at current estimates 600,000 laws, regulations, and statutes on the federal, state, county, and city levels.

How can we POSSIBLY regulate MORE?

If we had 600,001 would the crisis have passed?  Would we have missed it?

Sadly, no.

A microcosm of the “bubble” can be summed up in a man I know named Jeff, who happens to be a real estate broker.  He purchased a home by falsifying his mortgage application – at the prodding of his loan officer.

He wasn’t thinking of his single purchase’s impact on “the needs of others”, the loan officer wasn’t necessarily “putting profits before people” – on a global scale.  But, to add millions of these decisions together IS to impact the “needs of others.”

Morally, should Jeff done something different?  YES!  Should the loan officer made a different choice? YES!

They both did this with EXISTING law saying it was wrong.

What I see missing is NOT laws, regulation, or other government meddling in these individual’s lives.

What I see missing is COURAGE.

COURAGE to live in a smaller home.

COURAGE to live within one’s means.

COURAGE to say no to ‘easy money.’

COURAGE to do what is right and good.

For THAT we only need freedom. The freedom to choose to do the right – and the freedom to choose to do wrong.

And for THAT we need capitalism, a free market, and a free people.
