The Inspired Occasion designed and managed a 1st Birthday Party luncheon for 25 children and their parents, at a private residence in Melbourne.

The Client’s brief was to create a party theme using the children’s entertainment (a Magician) and a colour pallete of blue, green and white as the inspiration..

The 25 invited children were taken for an hour of hosted magical activities before being spoilt with a table full of savoury party items.

Whilst the children were being amused the adults enjoyed a selection of finger food and beverages which were served under a marquee in the yard.

We designed and custom made a backdrop which complemented the invitations which were designed by the client.

We also provided goodies for the Dessert Station which included

White Chocolate Ganache - Blue Macaron

Candy Selection on clouds, jelly beans, bonbons and choc drops

The children's table was set with coordinated napery, poptops and a centre piece which finished off the overall themeing.

Other event management logistics that we coordinated included, marquee, catering and catering staff, bunches of helium balloons throughout the home and adhoc party hire wares.

All guests took home a loot-bag filled with premium candy from the dessert station with themed thankyou tags attached

Baptism - Elegant and Beautiful in Pink

We recently designed and managed a formal luncheon Baptism for 80 invited guests at Lakeside Banquet and Convention Centre, Taylors Lakes.

The Clients brief was to create a feminine yet girly, sophisticated Candy Station that would incorporate centre pieces which could be duplicated to enhance the 9 guest tables. All concept development including stationary was to be colour coordinated to match the invitations, this included table numbers, menus, decorative dots, biscuit toppers, and the commissioning of a personally designed and printed table cloth. So with this (and budget constraints) in mind we decide to embark on making Pink and White matching topiaries that could be mounted on our beautiful inspired silver candle sticks, smaller versions of these were then made to create complimentary topiaries to be used as centre pieces for the guest tables. Long hours were spent making over 150 tissue flowers but "wow" what a great result. A stunning 3 tier pink baptism cake was showcased on our newly imported silver cake-stand.

To enhance the table further and continue the colour theme we incorporated pink and white bonbons, jelly beans, choc drops, musk's, Hershey's kisses, swizzle sticks and our ever popular inspired baked mini raspberry Macarons along with long cylindrical jars filled with pink organza bags for guests to fill with candy at the end of the function as a thank you gift.

The overall look was set against table mounted backdrops which were designed and built by the Inspired Occasion using grey textured wall paper and a handmade M (representing the name of the baby being baptised) was placed in the centre as a focal point.

All 9 guest tables were set with colour coordinated, table numbers, menus, handmade pompom centre pieces, and as an additional thank you gift guests received individually bagged with matching stationery topper Inspired baked and designed Cross, Sugar Biscuits.

At the entrance of the venue the overall feel of the event was completed by adding a table place seating guide, present table with themed centre piece and framed image of the baby being baptised.

As we say goodbye to 2012, switch off our laptops and iPhones and close down our kitchen to take a long awaited (and needed) break on the beach, we would like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to over 100 clients (many of whom are repeat clients and loyal followers) we have themed, styled, managed and catered for in the past 12 months. Without your continued loyal support The Inspired Occasion would not have had such a successful and busy year.

2012 has been a very exciting year for us, what started off as a home based, part time venture has grown into a fully-fledged thriving business. This is in part due to a change in management, funding, direction, premises and branding all of which have led to exciting new opportunities and clients that have embraced the services we offer with open arms.

During the year we have had the opportunity to work with some amazing companies and venues, it’s been great working with these guys and we look forward to continuing our association throughout 2013.

What joy our children have had over the years helping decorate our Christmas trees, from the real trees we have struggled to get into the car andthrough the door to the first tree we ever bought when I moved out of home and into a home of my own, a small fake green tree which we just can’t bring ourselves to throw away .

Over the years we have had many designer coordinated trees full of expensive baubles, ribbons and bows but these days I prefer a more simple tree, a tree that is full of memories, one that is filled with decorations my children have made and one that makes me reflect on the years past.

So today we thought we would run a competition "Best Dressed Christmas Tree"so that we can be inspired by your creations and get to know our readers a little better.

Submission are open now, submit your own Christmas Tree snap shot (max 2 trees per entrant) to info@theinspiredoccasion.com.au, we will upload them to the blog and to a Facebook album. At the end of the competition the lovely Louisa from Little Big Company will judge all entries and select what she feels are the 4 most creative and special trees from those submitted.

We needed new lights this year as ours stopped working one week before last Christmas, so my daughter chose "rainbow lights" and we used decorations in mostly those same colours!

We have a very tiny house that doesn't really permit room for a traditional tree so I purchased some willow and put these little decorations on it. To my surprise, I've had a number of positive comments. I love Christmas.

Holliday Family Tree
Although it is not perfect it was put together with love. The tinsel is not quite long enough but it symbolises to us that sometimes life is cut short but doesn't mean it is still not beautiful. The butterflies symbolise hope and it has plenty of the kids homemade ornaments too. A tree full of memories that will last a lifetime.

This Tree not only was decorated by my 2 children but also almost each and every decoration is hand crafted, painted or glued my angles. They are so proud off all their decorations. The Patane Family....

I take no credit in the decorating of this tree, my two beautiful cheeky little girls loved decorating this tree with their dad!!! Rebecca

Attached is our labour of love! The kids and I spend hours every year setting up the tree with an arrangement of orimental glass baubles to hand made items from the kids. The both know who colour coordinated I am and the decorations are always either red or silver - so sweet!

The single working gals christmas tree

My christmas tree is not great because of it's boughs heavily laden with ornaments, family heirlooms, tinsel or lights, it is not stacked heavily with gifts, nor is it likely to make the neighbours jealous. It is however printed on a high grade matt paper, able to be sent in the post and dismantled in 25 secs the day after Christmas.

It would make Martha Stewart cry, but for me, I'm light on time and light on family, but heavy on the sense of humor and have places to be darrrrrrrlllling.

It's also a perfect example of why I need a desert table for my next birthday, clearly I couldn't bake if the fate of the world depended on it.

Christmas Luncheon affair - Pink, White, Silver and blue

This white, pink, blue and silver Christmas was for an end of year Christmas luncheon affair here in Melbourne, Australia. A few special ladies came together to celebrate with their children.

A fun filled luncheon affair!!

The Inspired Occasion collaborated with Little Big Company, LOVE JK, Memories of Mine

Photography and The Eleventh Flower to make this beautiful luncheon a pastel and white Christmas affair with hints of silver.

We love collaborating with Louisa from Little Big Company. Weeks of collaboration set her a challenge to show others that with a few styling tips and tricks you can really do a "budget" table setting that looks wonderful. She sourced christmas chocolate boxes for $2, Silver Charger Plates $2 and Sparkling reindeers from Kmart all $2. The white dinner plates were from IKEA Australia for $2. The glass vintage looking dessert plates were 70c each from a local $2 dollar store and we bought from Safeway christmas puddings which we decorated with vintage brooches from our local opportunity shop aswell as vintage cutlery which were $2 for a bunch of mismatching forks and knives. The tablecloth was from a remnants warehouse for $15.

Melbourne Australia is known for it's array of multicultural food so the challenge was set for The Inspired Occasion. We made the Christmas pudding covered in pink fondant, pink and silver cupcakes, pink and silver christmas cookies in the shape of Christmas Trees and snowflakes, melting moments covered in edible toppers designed by LOVE JK , macarons, sparkling glitter cake pops, Christmas ruffle cake, stollen cake, pink meringues and Panettone alla Milanese (traditional Italian Christmas Cake), Chocolate cupcakes from Belgium and toffee from UK were also features on the table.

Rose from the Eleventh Flower designed all the floral centrepieces with peonies and

David Austin roses on the day and decorated the pudding and cakes with fleurs.

Melissa from Memories of Mine photography came with her daughter too to enjoy the day and captured all the beautiful touches on the day.

Jen from Love JK made all the Christmas party paperie, Christmas cracker labels and her designs were printed on edible paper that we placed on fondant to decorate the melting moments.

The children came along and enjoyed making and decorating the gingerbread

houses on the table. The gingerbread making kits were from Aldi Australia.

The lace tablecloth was from a vintage store for $5.

This was a fun filled affair enjoyed by all.

We recently created and styled an Elegant Elephant Baby-shower for a client who was hosting her sisters 2nd baby-shower. ‘Hanging Pretty’ first began in 2010 when Michelle Parker started searching for a unique though silent hanging mobile, for her new arrivals room.

Being unable to find what she had envisioned, for a reasonable price, she created one herself, based on a few different ideas that she had liked, though the end product was very much a bespoke creation of her own, being a combination of fabric, ribbon and beads hanging from a dream catcher...better still, it didn't make a noise & her daughter, still to this day, loves watching it gently move during changing times.

Michelle's creative background comes from spending her childhood surrounded by pretty things, in a home that encouraged her to create & dream, be it baking (then selling her creative delights back to her little brother & his friends), making clothes from tissues/paper for her dolls or watching her mum sew, she was never far from a "creative mess".

After working in a variety of roles including Functions/Weddings Supervisor, Business Developer & Manager for Allied Health Clinics & running her own Nail Salon for over 2 years Michelle found that she wanted to combine her creativity and spend more time at home with her two children.

In January 2012, after encouragement from her Mum, she created a few mobiles and within a few weeks friends and family were wanting to buy them as gifts and for parties.

As Hanging Pretty's décor range expands & the creative process evolves Michelle continues to focus on creating high quality home-made products at a reasonable price that is as unique as the person it is created for.

The Carnival of Fun for the Ronald McDonald House is going to be a day filled with lots of exciting activities and entertainment. Today we take the opportunity to thank Kylie from Jitterbugs for contributing entertainment for the children who will be attending. Jitterbugs is the preferred children's entertainment company of The Inspired Occasion and we are looking forward to working together on such worthwhile cause.

Jitterbugs Dance Parties evolved through the pure love of dance and the joy and fun it can bring to all children. Kylie Cubbon, the original Jitterbug, has over 20 years dance experience and is a qualified dance teacher. Kylie has taught dance at various levels within a number of dance schools, as well as school holiday programs, childcare centres, and co-ordinated movement and dance in a Camp America program. Along with Jitterbugs Dance Parties and Music & Movement, Kylie is also teaching jazz and tap dancing at the Michelle Rae School of Dance.
