Viral marketing is a hot topic circulating around Internet marketers worldwide. Usually it is talked about with product owners and sellers that already use these viral marketing methods. You won’t see many people talking about or giving suggestions on viral affiliate marketing so let me give you some guidance.

Viral marketing is the same as normal marketing but it has picked up from people who discuss a particular product or service. It can be through customers or just people that are talking about it on discussion boards, forums, or blogs. It also can be through people that don’t like the products. It is important that you use caution when beginning this kind of campaign.

The second way to get your viral marketing campaign up and going is to make something useful. It might take a little longer to get it to viral status but it’ll take a longer to go away as well. If you make a tutorial or a how to document that is well researched and informative you can get a lot of traffic.

If it is really informative you may get some links from other websites and you’ll start to see other people recommend your stuff in forums and emails. Make sure you include your affiliate links so the visitors will start to come to your site and your affiliate products and start buying them from you.

The final thing you can do is to review the product your selling. If you review it very good, you will get a lot of traffic and links from websites all over where people are commenting on the products like yours. People will come to your review and if they like it, they’ll move forward and purchase the item from your affiliate link.

Like it or not, it’s getting harder to make it in the world of affiliate marketing. There are quite a few reasons why this is true. In this article, I’m going to go over a few of them. I assure you that failure to acknowledge these things can mean a quick death sentence as an affiliate marketer. So ignore these warnings at your own risk.

At the top of the list is the competition. The cost of entry into this business is practically zero. I can promote an affiliate product with nothing more than a review on a blog and a link to a sales page. A few well written articles, also free, submitted to a quality article directory like Ezine Articles, and I can make a decent income without spending a dime. This makes it so that anybody with a computer can get into affiliate marketing. And let me tell you, the number of people with computers is increasing everyday.

But competition is only a part of the problem. Because of all the people promoting products online, the Internet, once the wild west of marketing, is now becoming more regulated. Sites like Google are now putting strict regulations and what you can and can’t promote using their service as well as what you can and can’t say. On top of that, Congress is in the process of putting through new regulations that will force sales pages to disclose atypical results in ways that you can’t even imagine. Thus, product creators will have to begin to move away from the hyped up sales pages that make it so easy to close a sale. This will also affect affiliate marketers as well.

Finally, there is the actual skill of the marketer. This is, ultimately, where the strong surviving really comes into play. The affiliate marketers who write the best ads, the best reviews, put in the most time and essentially take their business the most seriously, are going to be the ones who will succeed. The others, between the competition and the regulations, will ultimately fall. If you think I’m kidding, please check your grip on reality at the door.

I finish at or near the top of just about every affiliate contest I enter. Why? Because I take time to get the product, review it, offer bonuses that enhance the product, and run my business like a business…not like a hobby.

Those who desire to earn a significant affiliate income oftentimes don’t realize that there are actually two critical components. First, and most obvious, is a solid business system, but I’ll talk more about that in future articles. What I want to focus on here is the psychology behind raking in a sizable and consistent affiliate income.

If you have found a solid business model, but still find yourself struggling with things like procrastination, lack of motivation and a measly little affiliate check, you’re going to have to do one thing before your situation will change: You will have to work on yourself as hard, and with the same intensity that you’ve been desiring a successful affiliate income business.

I wish I could give you one thing you could do that would “fix” it all in one fell swoop-but I can’t. I will however, through this article, and a number of others in this series, give you what my I know to be the most effective strategies for making a breakthrough.

I’m about to reveal a method for getting to the next level of personal growth that is more useful than having a modern day Freud monkey with your mind for three years. I must warn you though; it’s not for the faint of heart. Many people simply aren’t willing to be this direct.

Here it is. It’s called the “I Hate Him/Her” exercise. Write down the name of someone you detest; someone you cannot stand. Don’t hold back, let loose with “both barrels” and write down everything about them that makes you livid. Take some time with this, and, because of the anger you may feel after just a few moments, you might want to do this in chunks. Do some now, and then come back and do some more later on.

Now, the second half of this is the “I Like Him/Her” exercise. Write down the name of someone you really like and admire; write down everything you find attractive or like about them. Again, be thorough- take some time and be as complete as possible.

When you are finished with both lists, when it comes to becoming the master of YOU, you’re holding the equivalent of gold in your hands.

Like it or not, the things you have written down that you don’t like about someone else, are the very things you resent about yourself. If you find yourself disagreeing with me, please know that you are right on track. See, if you didn’t push back against that thought, then you most likely wouldn’t despise these behaviors in others. The reason we condemn these actions in others is because it allows us to keep ourselves distracted from having to face these truths in our own life.

Likewise, the things you like the most in others, are likely the very behaviors, actions and traits that you take the most pride of in your own life.

Clearly, the list that allows you the biggest opportunity for clearing what you have perceived as obstacle in your life is the list about the people and behaviors you don’t like. However, a massive amount of growth can also come from recognizing your strengths, and then amplifying the power of your already effective traits and behaviors.

When you begin working through this exercise- provided you are working with a good business model for earning affiliate income- you’ll watch your affiliate checks get larger each month.
