What gets deleted from MeFi, are the darnedest things. Given that the post is quite a bit late, I would still think it would be decent MeFI fodder. If you are going to make the FP, people, you are going to need something with sauce. UNIX don’t have sauce, bitch.

People! Don’t buy from Deal Extreme. They can’t ship their shit reliably. Where are you going to buy your shit, then? Ebay. Yep, the people on Ebay, from the same regions in China, seem to be way more willing to ship via airmail. Deal Extreme is no improvement over Ebay, so screw them.

Why does this come up? I bought LEDs and power supplies from both Ebay and Deal Extreme. Orders placed on Feb 11 with Ebay came in on by the 20th of Feb. Deal Extreme has barely said more than, “Sorry your shit is late.”

STOP USING DEAL EXTREME! They have nothing to offer that is better than an individual in Hubei.

Leap day

NPR spent leap day with the Long Now Foundation. Sadly, I didn’t realize this was such a big holiday, and slept through a third of it. I did realize something. If you can’t be born on Feb. 29, you can at least plan to be married on Feb 29. I also learned that my server time is a hour off.

The whole family just got back from My Neighbor Arrietty. It was far better than expected; having been burned by My Neighbor Ponyo . Even adults can like this one, though the love interest stuff is a little weird. The world the borrowers move through is grand and thrilling. Definitely worth 20$/person.

Its the previews that kind of scare me. Disney is going to do Finding Nemo in 3D. When I saw the preview start I sat up and thought, “OMG, Finding Nemo 2, the sequel. WTF?” But no. Just 3D. Actually finding Nemo 2 is about how Nemo grows up to become head of household, or anemone, as the case may be. Nemo has to care for his ageing father, Marlin, who has dementia. One day the dementia suffering Marlin wanders off so Nemo and his eldest son Carl, leave the family and go to find him. Finding Marlin is easy, but the heart wrenching part of the story is when Nemo and Carl, travel with Marlin to visit all the old characters and neighborhoods. Marlin can see them one last time and perhaps even, remember a little. I’m crying inside all ready, Disney.

Technology has solved the problem of cruelty in factory chicken production. By rendering the chicken unconscious before it ever has a chance to feel. I bet the meat on a bird that has barely ever twitched is extra tender. No word as to when this stops being art and starts being real, though.
