Earlier today, I was finishing up a webinar teaching people how to get an extra 1,200+ RSS feed subscribers in only 17 days.  Bill was on the sofa, sound asleep, snoring loudly.  It was getting to be dinner time and little Fritz was getting hungry.

Fritz knew better than to bother me when I was teaching, but he couldn’t figure out how to get Bill’s attention. So he jumped onto the sofa and gingerly crawled up Bill’s tummy.  Bill just kept snoring away. When he reached Bill’s face, he leaned forward and sniffed his mouth.  I guess he was checking to see if he was breathing?  Bill didn’t respond, so Fritz sat up and thought for a moment.

What came next made me laugh so hard I almost wet myself!

Not getting a response, Fritz took his little paw and started tapping Bill on his nose!  Tap! Tap! Tap!

His little eyes were screaming, “Dad, I’m starving! Wake up!”  But it was no use.  Bill just kept on snoring.  After composing myself, I went back to teaching.  But that’s when Fritz taught me a lesson …

Fritz decided that if Mom and Dad weren’t going to feed him, it was time to take matters into his own hands! So he climbed onto Bill”s shoulder and used it as a perch to climb onto the counter, where his food is kept. As I hung up from the webinar, I heard plastic rustling and turned to see Fritz trying to get into a bag of treats!  I wish I had a video camera!  It was just too cute!

Do you see the lesson here from Fritz?

Most people trying to grow their business online put up a website and then sit back and wait for visitors to come to them.  That’s what most dogs do, too… They might show some small sign that they’re hungry, but then they let their humans bring food to them. But little Fritz did what business owners online should do… He didn’t wait for anything!  H

e got dinner himself!

Think of your sales as dinner.  Don’t just sit there and wait, go get some food!

That’s what makes blogs work so well…

Blogs have a little of both mixed in.  Blogs become the vehicle that attracts the food and, it can even be the food itself.  As my mentor, Kevin Nations says/.. “Winners take imperfect action while losers are still perfecting the plan.”

One of the fastest way to get the food (sales) to come to you instead of waiting for someone else to deliver it is to get links coming back to your blog placed all over the ‘net.  There are plenty of places to do that:

*  RSS directories
*  Article directories
*  Social bookmarking sites
*  Classified sites
*  and many more

But getting links all over the place can be time consuming.  You need your own version of Bill’s tummy to use to help you get from where you are to the top of the counter (i.e. the top of the search engines).

Back in May, I declared it to be “Joint Venture” month.  For the next 4 weeks, I taught you about joint ventures, how they worked, how you could use them to grow your business, etc.  I started hearing stories from people who had applied what I shared with great results.  I hope you got as much out of that “theme month” as they did!  I really enjoyed it as well!

As we get things underway with the shift to Directions University, I thought it might be equally fun (and profitable) to have another THEME month!  So

I thought long and hard about what the theme should be …

For the last week or so, I’ve really put a lot of thought into what “one thing” I could teach you that would have the greatest impact on your business.  Now let me tell you, that is not the easiest thing in the world to identify.  As you probably have already found out for yourself, there is SO MUCH to know in order to really find success in a business!

You’ve got to understand …

*  What niche to go into (you’d better at least be able to talk like an expert about the topic AND there had better be plenty of people with money already interested in it!)

*  What products to sell (you’d better be picking something that people are already buying or you’re
really going to have to work hard!)

*  How to grow a list and build a relationship with the subscribers (as everyone says “the money’s in the list!” so this one is crucial!)

*  How to drive traffic to your website (and it can’t be just ANY traffic, either — it’s got to be the RIGHT
traffic, and you’ve got to have the RIGHT message on the site too!)

*  How to put up a website that actually converts (The technical issues are bad enough — but you’ve also got to make sure that it actually gets people to CLICK the ORDER button or it’s not going to make you a dime!)

*  And SO MUCH more!

The thing of it is, if you really think about it, every one of these is tied together …   It really boils down to 2 basic things:

1)  You need PEOPLE to talk to
2)  You need PRODUCTS to sell them

That’s it!

All of the rest of the things you need to know, all stem from one of these — PEOPLE or PRODUCTS. That made my decision MUCH easier! The ONE THING that I can teach you that will have THE BIGGEST impact on actually making YOU money is …

BLOGGING!

You see, when you have a blog, you don’t have the technical issues at all.  If you can use Microsoft Word, you can be a blogger.  When you have a blog, you instantly have a way to drive tons of traffic — AND, the visitors you get are the RIGHT visitors, so long as you are using the RIGHT keywords.  (Since my blogging system already takes that into account, your blog posts automatically attract the right visitors!)

When you have a blog, you also have a way to grow a list!  All you have to do is put an opt in box in your sidebar, add a plugin one of my students specifically

created around my blogging system, and your list grows itself.  And recently — I even found a site that takes your blog posts and turns them into a book!

You’d think something like that would cost a fortune, right?

WRONG!

For a measly $14.95 you can have your own book – one with YOUR name on it. It becomes your “Something To Sell” so you can make money from your blog.  Add a few affiliate products, and you can make TONS of money just by having a blog!

So there you have it - the ONE THING that will have the BIGGEST impact on your business …

So this month is officially the “Directions University Blogging Month”.

I’m talking about a blog that really gives great quality content that attracts the right people like bees to honey! You don’t need to be a great writer to do this. In fact, you can even TALK your posts instead of writing them!

rest of the week was so busy!

See, about a month ago, right around my birthday, I was thinking about you and my other subscribers, students, and customers.  I kept

wondering if there was something else I should or could be doing that would allow you to start seeing the success you want.

More specifically, I was trying to overcome my frustration over hearing so much whining and complaining.

What is all the whining about?

Two things primarily…

Either not finding a “magic bullet” that brings in millions in a few days, or whining because more money seems to be deserved, even if nothing is being done to merit it.

Let me tell you, it can be SO frustrating seeing SO many people who somehow seem to think that doing the same thing over and over again can somehow bring different results.  And, it can be equally frustrating when everyone seems to want everything f.r.e.e., especially when I give so much away to start with!

Do you even realize how much is available to you 100% f.r.e.e.?

Do you know that I actually give away enough information that if you really APPLIED IT, you would be making well over 4 figures per month?

Well, if you’re like so many of the people I talked to last month, maybe you didn’t know any of this.

So for that, let me take part of the blame and apologize.

What I realized was that our name, “The IM University” probably didn’t show you how we could help you.

No, we’re not just about internet marketing.

No, we don’t have anything to do with instant messaging either.

Our materials help you in 4 primary ways:

1)  They help you find direction for your life
2)  They help you find direction for your business
3)  They help you give direction to your prospects and customers, and
4)  They help you change the direction of the world!

When I realized that our name is actually misleading you, I knew I had to do something to fix it.

That’s why this week, as we launch the 8th 30-Day IM Challenge, we’ll be changing our name to:

Directions University

This means our new domain name will be www.DirectionsU.com .

Along with the new name, we’ve created a new system that will really help you to take advantage of all of the f.r.e.e. training we provide.

Every university has 2 elements - an educational side and a socialization side.  We are no different, but until now, you couldn’t necessarily see that.

With the new platform, you can participate in the Directions University social network and you won’t even need to sign up again if you have a Facebook account!  All you have to do is click a button that says “connect”, sign in to your Facebook account, and you’re in!

Here’s the cool part …

While you’re inside, interacting with like minded entrepreneurs who are also building businesses, you can also access ALL of our more than 14 different courses, starting with the F.R.E.E. Challenge!

With this new system, there are no more excuses for not getting results!

The ONLY way that you will not succeed is if you take no action!

Over the coming week, we’ll be rolling the new system out one piece at a time so we can make sure that there are no bugs in it.  By this time next week, everything should be up and running if all goes according to plan.

Expect to receive an email for every one of our courses you are enrolled in and for every one of our info products you own.  That email will contain instructions for how to access the materials on the new platform.  The email will be sent from either Gina Gaudio-Graves at gina@theimuniversitty.com or from The IM University, so watch for it!

What you want to do right now to make sure that you get to be a part of everything this week is:

1)  Go to http://www.30DayIMChallenge.com and register.  If you want to be on the live webinar this Wednesday to get a demo of the whole thing, make sure you upgrade to Gold Member also!

2)  Go and set up your profile at: http://www.directionsu.com .  you can get into the system by either hitting the Enroll link at the upper left or just clicking on the “f connect” button and signing into your Facebook account.
