Islands magazine's readers voted the Greek islands in the top four of their favourite romantic islands; the other ones being Hawaii, Jamaica, and Tahiti. The ghosts of ancient Greece are in the  air and the seas. There is a temple of Apollo and Artemis near where my  boat is hauled out, a Venetian castle close to my favourite taverna, a  creek that Cleopatra sailed down when she escaped

These guys were fond of action, and sailing soon became very popular, and every year there were more people interested. Now, 10 year later, fifteen of us started on Sunday 18th. September 2011 from Lefkas, on two boats, Stilvi and Elvira. We were all men, and we enjoy sailing and fishing.

We called it a hurricane squall because the winds recorded by, among others, Lies van ’t Net and her husband Ad as they rode out the storm on board their 52 ft steel ketch Jonas were certainly hurricane force. They recorded

Mother Nature and Culture

Boat and property owners  were today counting the huge cost of a violent squall, with winds estimated  at up to hurricane force, which brought death and serious damage to  Vliho Bay on Lefkada Island.
